Texans MLK Mock

Jaylon is a makeup call for not selecting Mack & only reason he could be available is this injury. Clowney should be kicked inside replacing Crick DE opposite JJ.

Not high on Hack but could see Texans trading up in 2nd. per O'Brian history & Texan needs.
So your saying Clowney should add aroun 20 pounds to play DE?

He should just focus on improving his core strength & health then let speed & explosiveness take over instinctually. He could be a more disruptive ninja (Antonio Smith) his natural position is DE. If he adds some sand in his pants to anchor that's a bonus but not required given his athletic ability.

If Jaylon is off the board by 22? Texans should address OL in first with BPA. In my first mock I had targeted Taylor Decker, but he is probably a top 20 pick also, so going with Jason Spriggs, Indiana to improve OT or Cody Whitehair to replace Brooks if not resigned. Both will be coveted linemen with NFL longevity to help protect franchise QB. Christian Hackenberg can perform but not without plus protection & ground game.

It coud happen

:pop:

O'Brian, McNair's, coaching staff, players, fans, rest of league & all media know that, TEXANS NEED A QB.

Question is how much in picks will it cost to move up in the draft to secure "their guy"? Unfortunately, Texans meaningless winning ways, that don't account for squat come playoff time put them all but out, of contention to move up high enough to grab Wentz or Goff but let's cross our fingers & hope anyway, lol

To utilize the QB Texans will sleep with, it is a priority to fix the OL and RB position. Elliot is the only guy I'm interested in taking 1st rd for RB need if he's off the board you look at the two linemen I mentioned, Spriggs & Whitehair. Lets don't make this more painful than it has to be because with an improved OL & or RB at least a guy like Hackenberg will have a chance.

And there were exactly 0 draftniks who predicted Rodgers falling that far.

But the point was you have rationalized away ANY QB in the 1st and for the most part 2nd. Now that is:clown:.

It's a fluid process, cream rises to the top especially QB's. My question is, after the top two prospects, will Texans " rationalize" they're guy is still on the board? Lynch is the only possibility that I could see O'Brian covet enough to warrant a first rd pick, even trade up, save face in process & proclaim he was "our guy the whole time". His comp, Ryan Mallet, was proclaimed the starter week two last season so we know what Bill likes is a big, strong armed QB that can move, so there is your round one possibility. I'm going to need to revisit his game film more then see how he performs @ the Combine, especially interview process but we will see I guess :slapfight:

Matt Miller on 610 after break to explain his Hackenberg projection to Texans.

"He's s better QB than his stats show"

"Three 1st rd QB's all gone before
Texans, Goff, Wentz, Lynch"

Hakenberg/Cook both 2nd round picks. Not much after, maybe Brissett or Prescott 3rd/4th.
