Texans hire Bill O'Brien as HC

I disagree with Matrix about Bill O'Brien but completely agree with him about infantrycak as moderator. infantrycak is the worst moderator that I have ever come across, even worse than Bob in Houston from the hornfans.com basketball board.

If Matrix was on most boards he would have been gone already. It is actually because of Icak's style of moderating that he is still here. Most mods would have banned a guy like Matrix years ago for all of the outbursts and meltdowns to be fair.

I spar with Infantry Cak in here all of the time on all types of subjects, and he doesn't ever delete or alter my posts in any way. He dishes out his fair share of insults, but pretty rarely are threads shut down or posts removed. When they are it is usually warranted.

Same here. I could understand a bunch of kids (especially today's generation) not appreciating getting a hand slapped when they deserve a boot up the ass... but c'mon, we'ze grown folk. Need to act like it.

Same. We've disagreed on many occasion but he's never given the impression that he would censor what I or others have to say.

Usually what happens in these situations is that posters forget that respect is a two-way street and you typically have to give respect to receive it.

Well I think a lot of folks forget or ignore their contributions in discussions that become chippy and confrontational. I get a lot slung at me in here, but I also do my fair share of dishing it out, so I expect that kind of interaction from time to time personally. It's when you're crossing the line of screaming insults and curse words that get Matrix's posts deleted most likely. Even Dex's posts are allowed to sail around this site, and a lot of posters seem to get really aroused by his presence oddly enough.

LOL. I like Dex. A man who unashamedly speaks his mind. I kind of like it when he get's everyone feathers ruffled.

Exactly. We don't get in between chippiness or some back and forth snark within reason. But gratuitous and direct insults aren't tolerated (we miss some or sometimes see it long after it occurred and leave it).

Just so folks know - we don't edit posts to remove whatever is offensive and leave the remainder. Not going to get into being accused of editing content. It's all or nothing. Plus that way folks can decide if the insult is more important than the point they were trying to make.

Yep, best way to ruin a forum is let personal attacks go.

Plus it's a pain to parse through and remove objectionable content. You want me to edit your posts, pay me. :shades:

People need to remember that this is just a message board at the end of the day. LIttle flares between people would likely not even exist if the conversation was face to face. I don't take any of this stuff personally, nor should anyone else for the most part. I'd gladly buy any one of you a beer or even a meal if we were in person and would probably laugh about all of the BS we argue about on here. Online, the delivery of the communication comes off very differently than if the conversation was face to face. People tend to forget that when they're in disagreement. I've certainly been guilty of that.

I was on a board once where the moderator--a sports scientist from South Africa who shall remain nameless--would just out and out edit my posts. If he agreed with my posts, he'd re-write them and add corroborating evidence from studies or whatnot. Sometimes, he'd just change the wording to make it less "casual" and also to make it line up to whatever Style Manual he was using. It was weird. It was like he thought the forum was an actual scientific journal and he was the editor, cleaning things up for publication.

On another board, one that professed to be "no-holds-barred", if the moderators didn't agree with what you were saying, your posts would just disappear.

I've never had those sorts of problems on this board. I've gotten in arguments and I've gotten in disagreements, I've said some really stupid things that I would like to take back, but the moderators have been cool, only warning me when things get too personal.

From what I saw of what Matrix13 was posting, he was getting way over the line.

I like the atmosphere here and I like the people here. Even most of the people I disagree with. I think the moderators are doing a good job and are keeping this place from getting dumbed down from too much childish finger pointing and name calling.

'cak is not going anywhere but yet you still keep coming back for more... :rake:

This is signature worthy. Goodness

*Bill O'Brien took over a 2 win team just like Kubiak, but turned in a much better bounce back record.
* Did Gary ever make it to top two for Coach of the Year?
*I've been a "mild" quantity poster for years, and I've never had an altercation with 'cak. Should I feel "remissed"?
*I miss the pre-moderator 'cak, alot; because as a moderator, he can't get two words in without being attacked. I always felt like the conversations played out pretty open minded on his part prior to that.
*I can honestly say, the personal attacks here don't benefit the person or the board. We should be able to have conversations and agree/disagree without the drama.

I'd rather dip my nutsack into a bowl of fireants then have them sliced off by al-Baghdadi himself.

But, I can kill those fireants for you.

Back on topic, I've seen you have untold amounts of vitriol towards BOB. I will tell you as he would, he wasn't perfect last yr and wont be next yr or any yr for that matter. But he did an above avg job last yr IMHO and your hatred still knows no bounds. Why such hatred? Hope I'm not being obtuse.

hahaha I see what you did there...

trying to work in all those new words

:kitten:

Yes but the team was not nearly as talent devoid as 2005.

Remember we had a poll last season about who took over a worse team? I think it was the first unanimous poll - Kubiak did.

No question about it...

True cak very true all around

My chicken little ..sky is falling side wonders how we'd look with no jj in the lineup :hides:

Agreed

But you are what your record says you are.

BTW, BOB won 2 games with Keenum out of a hunting blind, which is 2 more than Kubiak won with Keenum on the roster for a full yr and 8 tries.

Slice that up however you want, but Kubiak made it a disaster. Your record is what it says it is. If it wasn't that bad of a disaster like you say, then it looks a lot worse on Kubiak for letting the train wreck so badly. They both took over bad teams.

I got to say team effort. We had better defensive effort in 2014 over 2013
As fast as the offense could score the defense would give it up just as fast

Stop trying to put words in my mouth. I didn't even hint that 2013 wasn't a disaster, it was. I said on talent level OB took over a much better team than Kubiak. He did.

And yes that makes the 2-14 record look even worse for Kubiak.

Main failing for Kubiak there was not having a decent back up for Schaub, imho

On slight difference I see is Kubiak hit his initial draft with Williams,Ryans, Daniels, Winston

Bob...didn't hit the side of a barn door outside of Blue(yet)

yeah but can't predict the rash of injuries the rookie class suffered last year

I can't say that. He had some good years. However after the injury and the what??? 29 QB rating in the pro bowl...he was done mentally and physically

yup, and after the end of 2012 and then the pro bowl more mentally than physically I think

Main failing for Kubiak was he couldn't see Schaub was a back up.

That was the GM not preparing for inevitable. Schaub was a boarder line top 10 QB in 2010, 2011 and 2012, when healthy. Kubiak's main failing was his loyalty to some of his coaching staff that weren't ready or good enough to hold the positions he gave them.

Yup - after that it was like his light bulb was flickering. One drive in control and then lights out the next. And the mechanical change became real obvious.
