Khan was my guy but ok with NC. I think NC will find more talent in UDFA and lower rounds, while Khan looked really good on overall team makeup and cap savvy/negotiations. Let's all agree they are both two huge upgrades and given time I think either would make a good impact
Agreed, both would have had a chance to be the best GM in Texans history.

The bar has been set quite low.

Give me a guy with a personnel background over a bean counter background.

If Caserio was from any other org but the Pats org everybody would be on board with the hire.

I'm loving that Cal doubled down on what he believes and didn't go along with the Porn Fairy recommendation.

It makes this MB much more entertaining and that's what sports is really all about.

Caserio is a is a riddle, wrapped in a mystery, inside an enigma;

To put this in perspective, right now Belichick is doing what he has always done and is not missing Caserio one iota. Belichick is reviewing all of his scouting reports that he designed, written in a manner he requires, using vocabulary he demands. Belichick is the man in charge at the Combine and personally attends many Pro Days. Bill probably reassigned many of Caserio duties and responsibilities to Eliot Wolf sometime back.

Belichick will set HIS draft board his way. Belichick will run the draft and make all of the trades like he always has. History has shown Belichick assistants have made better clerks than they have managers. Belichick's GM tree have shown the thing they all do is lock down their respective HQs like it is MI6, CIA or Pats HQ. Everything is top secret classified. The home office becomes a gestapo/gulag. Front Office personnel become demoralized walking on egg shells out of fear. Cal saying they are going to build a wall around the compound and already firing many in the home office sounds like they are well on their way.

Great post

Only thing is Robinson and Dimitroff have been successful and hopefully Caserio will be too.

There was one thing that Rick Smith was good at. He made some great in-season free agency moves on a pretty regular basis especially with DB's.

Not really in my case. I've liked Nick Caserio as long as he's been connected to our GM job. I just like Khan better.

Yep. This is why Belichick's NE tree looks like the Christmas tree from Peanuts.

And it's what ultimately makes me wonder about Caserio. He looks like he's got the experience, and we don't know until we know. But if history is any sort of guide, then he learned what Belichick needed him to learn and not much else.

If he truly understands the fundamental nature of Belichick, then he figure out a way to both appease the star QB while jettisoning the obvious distraction without a second thought. Those are Belichick lessons that even us lowly fans have learned about him. Belichick obviously had no tolerance for leaks and office politics. His only crusade is crushing opponents and winning championships.

Dimitroff and Robinson have done pretty well. The Pats coaching tree looks barren. Hopefully Caserio has the same mentality as Belichick. But with the Not Texans Worthy theme, I doubt he would be allowed to go for the jugular even if he was a Belichick clone.

Just wondering but what player did BB ever appease? He was well known for trading players away just as they were at their peak so he could get as much value as possible.
