Texans GM Interviews...

You’re out of your mind if you think Reverend Jack Osteen is going anywhere if Nick Caserio becomes the Texans’ GM. You’re forgetting that Caserio was O’Brien and Easterby’s handpicked guy. The “Patriot way” has not and will not work without the GOAT TB12.
Caserio is smart enough to be aware of a snake when in his midst...............Easterby was also supposedly O'Brien's close friend. With friends like that, one needs no enemies.

the fact Caserio is still willing to come here and be interviewed for the position knowing Easterby isn’t going anywhere, tells me that he doesn’t think of Easterby in the same way you and everyone else apparently does.

if I’m him and I did think that about Easterby, I ain’t coming here for an interview under any circumstances. Also if somehow I set that aside and was willing to listen and actually accept the gig, my acceptance would be contingent on Cal jettisoning Easterby immediately.

Caserio knows what he has in Easterby. I am sure...should he be offered and he accept the GM position with the Houston Texans, it will be because Cal has given him authority to keep or drop Easterby at his discretion.

That doesn’t make sense really. Simply put even if you know there’s a supposed snake in the grass, you don’t go towards it if you can help it, you go away from it. I’m sure Houston isn’t the only team courting his services so why even entertain the overture if there’s a guy there that you know you don’t like?

I think they all are willing to back stab each other. Smith/Kubiak. Gaine/OB. Preacher/OB.

Chaos is a ladder.

meh, to endorse that belief you have to believe all these guys have the mindset of climbing the corporate “ladder” & I don’t believe that to be the case. Most of these guys are football lifers; IOW’s they’ve been indoctrinated in the same team mindset and culture since grade school & they really only care about ball.

aside from that, the NFL is a small, tight knit group of individuals. If all these guys were the same, reps would be in flux.

You don’t fully understand.

It’s not the “corporate ladder.”

These guys are competitors in everything they do. They want to be number one. Win on the biggest stage in whatever they do whether it’s HC or GM. To say they care more about being working together singing merry melodies is a fantasy. It’s just like in other work places when two divisions may rival one another.

It’s about job security too. Why wouldn’t Rick Smith throw Kubiak under the bus if that gets him more job stability? Why wouldn’t the preacher throw OB under the bus for more control?

But there are different ways to go about getting up that ladder than throwing your rival under the bus bro..and it’s far easier to play the game and move up said ladder than engage in GoT style politics and move up like you’re suggesting; especially on that level.

I’ve only really seen what your talking about in 1 organization recently with Freddie Kitchen and the Browns...& that dude didn’t last 1 year on top before being removed. Owners don’t want that type of turnover & nonsense, they want stability.

I witness this type of stuff all the times in the oilfield. Lol

That's just what it looks like from our seats. I think it's time to realize the truth.

Our HC/GM is not & may have never been our biggest problem.
I have been saying that since Bob McNair fired Gary Kubiak because he pulled Case Keenum in the 4th quarter in Jax and put in Matt Schaub. Asked why, Kubiak said Matt knew 100% of the playbook and Case only knew about 50% so Matt gave us a better chance to win. Bob had a hissy fit and temper tantrum on flight home and decided to fire Kubiak.

Just because I brought up GoT doesn’t mean someone will get there head chopped off. Don’t twist words.

Do owners want stability? They want it when they are winning, but after that a coach or GM only last a 4 years on average. Stability doesn’t equate success. This is a what have you done for me lately league. Not For Long.

We had back stabbing here in Houston, Todd Haley thought people were tapping his phones in KC, Reid and Dorsey had a falling out in KC, San Fran had Harbaugh and their GM, Schottenheimer in San Diego, The list goes on.

Because Kubiak kept his lips zipped.
He didn't throw anybody under any buses. He threw Matt Schaub to the wolves, but that's different.
Kubiak’s relationship with Denver and Elway you mean.

Jon Gruden vs Rich McKay both have jobs after their break up.

OB could be the next OC for Saban.

Haley got a job after the drama in KC and Pittsburgh.

Either way it’s not something rare.

2024 / Rebuilding Block 4 After Playoffs / Texans
I’ve absolutely wanted Dorsey as the next GM, mostly based on the 2 year, at minimum, rebuild facing the Texans.

That said, the McNair’s have had Caserio on their radar for the last few years and they’ve finally cleared the final hurdle in obtaining his services.....and without the fear of tampering.

I went back and looked up several articles regarding Caserio’s impact with the Patriots and they come up really strong. He wore plenty of hats with the organization successfully and the Patriots know that replacing him will not be done with a single executive.

As for the Texans challenge, it’ll be interesting to see how he game plans this mini rebuild since it isn’t something NE faced until this season and he’ll be doing it with no Belichick input or final decisions. It will be interesting to see who he has in mind for HC.

Report: Texans were poised to hire Omar Khan as G.M.

Posted by Mike Florio on January 10, 2021, 1:44 PM EST

A year after the Texans were making headlines during the first week of the playoffs because they were, you know, playing, they’re making even more headlines this year by, you know, not playing.
The hiring of Nick Caserio to be the team’s new General Manager lit the fuse on a cherry bomb of dysfunction for the Texans, reinforcing the perception/reality that executive V.P. of football operations Jack Easterby is Littlefinger (if you’re a GOT fan) or Gríma Wormtongue (if LOTR is your bag).

The Texans paid Korn Ferry somewhere between $100,000 and $1 million (word is that it was $600,000) to line up finalists for the job. Mike Garafolo of NFL Media reported that the five selected by Korn Ferry were Texans director of player personnel Matt Bazirgan, Seahawks V.P. of player personnel Trent Kirchner, Steelers V.P. of football and business administration Omar Khan, Louis Riddick, and Ravens director of football research Scott Cohen.

Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that Khan would have gotten the job, if the Texans hadn’t unexpectedly gone off the board to hire Caserio. (Schefter also mentions that his ESPN colleague Louis Riddick was the next choice after Khan, possibly for internal peacekeeping purposes.)

Schefter adds that “multiple people” within the organization, including quarterback Deshaun Watson, were upset by the decision to ignore Korn Ferry’s work and to hire Caserio. Team president Jamey Rootes, though not mentioned by name in Schefter’s story, also is believed to be extremely upset that the work done by Korn Ferry, with Rootes’ involvement, was thrown overboard. Some believe that it’s just a matter of time before Rootes leaves the Texans; at least one person believes that Rootes already has tried to resign, but that Rootes was persuaded to wait in order to avoid further reinforcement of the perception/reality of disarray within the franchise.

Easterby went to owner Cal McNair’s house and talked him into hiring Caserio.

I doubt that it's Easterby's influence that made the decision to hire Caserio.

Look , Caserio has been on their radar for 3 years. It's not a leap to think he was the man to beat from the get go.

So Cal had Porn Fairy line up a list of potential candidates , obviously Cal didn't like them over his choice.

Lets be honest , NONE of those from the Porn Fairy list have resume's that compare favorably to Caserio's.

Caserio wasn't my first choice .... but I get why they like him and would have chosen him above those on the porn fairy list.

If Rootes has already tried to leave or wants to, why would he give a rats ass about the perception of disarray within the Texans? If anything that makes him look good for wanting to leave a dysfunctional organization.

Further if we are to believe this article by Florio, this seems like Rootes and the others are upset that they’ve lost Cal’s ear. Which is a problem for me personally b/c all this about Easterby seems to be shaking out as just being about office politics more than about hiring the best candidate for the job. Rootes commissioned Korn Ferry to come up with a list of guys, they were interviewed, but upon Caserio throwing his hat in the ring....a guy more qualified than all the candidates Korn Ferry came up with combined, Cal went with him. All he did was take the advice Dungy gave to him.

Further, wouldn’t Palcic fall under Rootes’ umbrella? Rootes is the leak.

Makes sense to me.

I think it's one of the undelings. Rootes is on record saying he's the guy that fired Palcic.

Probably at Cal’s direction based on something Easterby told Cal about her...& he was also probably reluctant to do so, but he himself would then be in danger of losing his job then...or Palcic told him not to fall on the sword....hence her tweet after she was fired “good will prevail”.

I think Palcic was running around telling all of her media buddies that is was Easterby who fired her and the reasons why and that's why the media went Bat poop crazy on Easterby.
