From what I now the texans haven't picked up stellar players in the free agency (Maybe that's why we can't make it to the playoffs?) who have we picked up and who do you want the Texans to get in the FA?

Houston Dynamo, Champions of soccer that for some reason most Houstonians don't care about, great job Dynamo!!!

I would like to see us go after one solid offensive lineman that could start right away, and then grab another that can help with depth...I know you guys dont think its a good idea to get Michael Lewis, but with the experience that he has and the playmaking ability to turn part of this defense around. Along with with maybe a Deon Grant at free saftey so we can draft Adrian Peterson...then we can try and find defensive line...

I want you to tell me the name of the starter you think we should target? All you guys keep saying we should sign a FA OL, but the real question is who is that guy? Backups yes, true starters are not available. If you want to get another guy whose legs are just about done, then maybe you might find a Weigert type, but in 5 years have you not learned that real good starting offensive lineman do not ever get to be FA.

And please do not say Davis, he is a bad lineman from a worse OL than ours.

One front line cover corner Or... picking some second teired young guys who our scouts think might make a breakout. @ 13.7 ( generous guestimate) cap,
gotta sign two high draft picks, 1.8 and 2.39, and a few of you own FA's.
I don't believe with our cap they can make up a shoping list and go shopping
like I've seen some on the board post. Don't think they can afford to move DC. But I believe Kubiack and Smith would like too if they could find a willing Partner to eat some of the four million cap hit. Think that the two ones for Matt Schaub and Turner the burner will be way too high for them to do that.
I think the cap Hit on DC will prevent 1. another QB from coming here with less money and 2. No one is going to want to come here behind the current line...especailly with Spencer's satuts up in the air.
No coach wants to bite the bullet on a season in Febuary. I think this off season they will be frugile out of nessecity rather than choice. We're going to see in spades whether the character thingy with the VY/RB choice last year was a rouse or...they indeed will buck up again.

FA...what else do you want to know ?

Since we don't have much cap room I hope they try to get 1 or 2 mid level FA's in a couple of areas on Defense. A name I've heard alot at FS is Ken Hamlin from Seattle. I don't know how good he is, but he would probably be an upgrade over what we have and maybe we can afford him. I'd like to see them pick up a SLB in FA, but I don't know if the 2nd tier guys are any good. Whoever they get in FA will determine the course they take in the draft. JMHO!

I'm down for Cory Redding from the Lions also. I like the Michael Lewis guy, just the mentality of a guy from an Eagles defense would help out so much. We got N.D. Kalu from that team and his leadership was huge this year.

Yeah! I like N.D.Kalu, he came to play!

the key to this upcoming season will be in free agency not the draft...and here's why:

one we have so many needs we have to pick up players to limit the positions of need in the draft.

we need to come out of free agency with one starting corner...i don't like the corners with a 1st round grade this year but i also don't want to go into next season with faggins as the starter and some 3rd or 4th round pick challenging him either so if we can get asante samuels or nate clements and they be our one homerun in FA i think it'll be a great start to the season

keeping in mind that clements or samuels is gonna cost a whole lot to get here in houston the next players listed are role guys...these are the guys who you build your team with

sean mehan of tampa bay...last year there was some talk about picking him up but he was a RFA...this year he's a UFA and he's a solid C/G type player who moves well

other o-lineman to watch: kris dielman G, eric steinbach G, mike gandy OT, and derrick dockery G

cory redding would be a great pick up if the price is right...however i am not fully sold on him as a starting DT in this league...but his production this year cannot be ignored

other d-lineman to watch: terdell sands DT (this guy is just freakin huge), and sadly that's about it for DT's...not really a good year for DE's

other players in general that i think would fit...daniel graham TE, donte stallworth WR, chris brown RB, ahman green RB, adrian peterson RB, tim rattay QB, and ken hamlin FS

How can AP be a good fit as a FA when he hasn't been drafted yet? :shades:
