Texans First Round History

It's fun to look at the list of the Jags players.

But scary to see how well the Colts have drafted.

Also didnt remember the Jets had 4 first round picks in 2000...wow

They were generous with TJ, but Mario and D Rob should have a blinking arrow...ESPECIALLY since they called Mario a bust! How has he NOT exceeded expectations.

Maybe they just mean the expectations of where they were drafted. In that case it's pretty impressive, and rare, to live up to the expectations placed on the first overall pick in a draft.

Two things I found interesting:
- The shine has worn off of Reggie Bush (he's got a down arrow)
- You would not expect the Giants to be the defending Super Bowl champions based on this analysis of their picks (two down arrows, 5 sideways, none up)

No love for Houston in this one. Dunta Robinson is ranked as just an all right draft selection? Granted, this was a very strong first round were talking about here. None the less, Dunta has proved to be an elite player and it's almost a little offending to see that he is ranked as no better a draft choice than Vince Young or Fabian Washington.

As far as Mario is concerned, same deal. 14 sacks last season (t-3rd in NFL)...meh, he was an all right pick.

I hope they don't do a 2nd round history for the Texans

2002 expansion Ryan Young
2002 Pitts/Gaffney
2003 Joppru
2004 gave it up on trade to move up on Babin
2005 P-buc /Hollings
2006 Demeco
2007 -2008 Schaub

bolded on who is with team
:thud:

In addition to Pitts, there's the second rounder we threw away for Philip Buchanon. :brickwall:

Compared to the rest of the league, the Texans have done reasonably well in the first round. It's the two rounds after that--where champions are normally built--that were the nightmare. Until 2006: now we're on a streak of successful picks in rounds 2/3. If Schaub plays like he's capable, then we can add two more second-round picks to the "successful" side of the ledger.
