The best possible way for Rick Smith & Company to get an A for "First Day Haul" is to be creative & trade out of the 15th pick. It only takes a couple teams to reach on a prospect ahead of the Texans for someone better than expected to drop to #15 & add value to the Texans slot. It's going to be very difficult to come away with an extra 2nd unless the Texans trade out of the 1st but this is where there is real value. So with that in mind if the Texans get lucky, the right prospect falls into their laps & a team with firepower/need want him something big like this could happen- Texans trade out of the 1st rd. with the New England Patriots for the 34th pick (via KC) 58th & 89th.
15th = 1050 point value
34th = 580 + 320 (58th) +145 (89th) Total 1045
New England is desperate to address secondary if Malcolm Jenkins slips by the Saints to #15 the Texans could take him OR listen to trade offers. A team like the Patriots have both extra picks & need in secondary to move up, & secure the sure thing @ CB.
35th - Alphonso Smith, CB Wake Forrest
46th - Louis Delmas, FS Western Michigan
58th - Andy Levitre, OG Oregon State
just a few more hours & we can leave fantasy island for Radio City Music Hall NYC
