Texans eye on 2 guys?

Who else needs a CB that is picking before us?
What are the chances Kyle will still be there at 20?

7. Cleveland - unlikely but could go Haden causing a team like SF to take Wilson.
13. San Francisco - Where you could see Haden go
16. Tennessee - could but I dont think so. DE for them imo
17. San Francisco - 2nd pick to use if they don't take one at 13 which I think they will(Haden at 13).
18. Pittsburgh - could very well take Wilson
19. Atlanta - unlikely but could
20. Houston

Charles Robinson(Yahoo Sports)Don't be shocked if Boise State's Kyle Wilson is the 1st cornerback drafted. His stock is up, & many teams like him over Florida's Joe Haden

Yep. RT @MrMichael_Smith: He could go No. 7 RT @YahooSportsNFL: Don't be shocked if Boise State's Kyle Wilson is the 1st cornerback drafted.

IMO biggest threat is going to be Pitt at 18. However, I think it's possible they will be looking for OL help and Iupati is a guy that fits what they like to do. With Holmes gone they could also makes things interesting by taking Bryant.

I think Haden playing in SEC makes him the first CB taken.

i'd certainly they have their eye on more than 2 guys when picking 20th. both could easily be gone, and a bunch more they weren't anticipating to be there just might. this is why i don't buy such rumors.

If this came from "The General" he has changed his prediction and thinks that the Texans would draft McCourty over wilson per his chat & mock today.

Tough to predict how the board falls before the Texans make their pick (unless they trade up to increase their chances of getting a bonafide stud). I for one cannot to see how this year's draft unfolds!!! My favorite weekend of the offseason by far :)

anybody want to wager that the "source close to the Texans" is John McCain?
Yes, I would like that wager. Not completely certain, but I think this is the draftnik who predicted the Texans would trade down in '07 with Denver and take Anthony Gonzalez.

Right. This guy's "source" has Wilson as the Texans target. McClain has Mathews, then McCourty. Then Zierlein's source has the Texans liking Spiller. The closer to the draft, the less you know and the more disinformation you hear.

yeah, Its tough to predict and there are a lot of options that I'd be happy with and some not so much .... Its just nice not picking in the top 10 for once.

Hopefully Haden sinks or we can pull the trigger if he falls to 14 or something. I would not be sad about taking Mathews bc he has a really strong working mentality and is being tossed in with the best team that the Texans have had thus far. Im looking forward to Thursday. Best case scenario, Earl Thomas sinks to us bc then everyone would be happy. But if he is gone some people will be very dissapointed. Kyle Wilson is a great player and I had us taking him along time ago before Dunta was even gone. But Idk I think Joe Haden will be the better pro but I would not be dissapointed. I think there are quality cornerbacks to work with in the 2nd and 3rd if we take a running back.

Joe Haden
Kyle Wilson
C.J Spiller
Ryan Mathews (I would not be surprised to see him taken before Spiller)
Earl Thomas

Surely one of these guys will be there when we pick, hopefully atleast two.

I'm pulling for Haden but Im not getting my hopes up. I would be content with Ryan Mathews or C.J Spiller, but not over joyed. I would do a back flip into a pool if we snagged Earl Thomas.

This is exactly my line of thinking too. I'm hoping we use our 1st pick on the secondary, but if they are gone and we go RB I will still be happy.

All the info coming out about RB and CB most likely is a smokescreen, the Texans want to trade down and Chargers want Mathews, to get him they will need to trade up, hello Rick you want our 1st and 2nd rounder to trade up? Sure....

In the years since Kubiak and Smith have been here, we have not ever had a good feel for the pick, no one had us taking Okoye, no one thought Brown, most had us taking Clay Matthews last season . IMO our pick will be someone off the radar.

I am looking at Pouncey, Williams, Mays, Iupati, or McCourtey.

It was a little easier in 2008 because everybody knew the Texans were going to draft a lt for Gibbs no matter what. It is a dangerous way to draft.

My out of left field pick is Duane Brown, the tackle from Virgina Tech. He has all the attributes to be a top flight LT in the system Gibbs will be drilling them on. It is probably a reach at #18, but if all the other tackles are gone, and they are intent on getting one early, he's my "shock" pick. I won't be shocked, but I know others will be if that is the name on the card. I don't see him lasting until rd 3, and they don't have a #2, so.....??

Duane Brown OT. Porky beat me to it but I agree with him. It would be a reach at 18 and out of nowhere pick. I don't see it happening unless we trade down.

I keep hearing people saying this, but just about everybody on this site had Okoye as a highly possible pick.

As I remember both locally and nationally, few thought Okoye would be there at numer 10. at the time, picking him was not considered a reach.

I remember there was a lot of talk about his former college coach taking him for Atlanta. Did a little research on the boards thoughts at the time.

Intersting stuff to re-read.

Yeah - I remember thinking at the time how lucky we were that Atlanta didn't take Amobi, and how we were equally lucky that Miami did take Ginn Jr.

I have no idea if there was any truth at all to the rumors that we would have taken Ginn at 10 if he were there, but even with Amobi's somewhat disappointing NFL career thus far, I'm still glad we never found out.

Why Jackson? What makes him worthy of the #20 pick?

Because he's safe. And they like him. The reason we all missed him is because everyone on the board viewed him with eager apathy. He has nothing in his game which suggests they will ever have to pay the guy ten or twelve million down the road. I just wanna hear them say he is a lock to be the starter on the right side opening day.....er successful starter opening day. Manning is going to eat him alive.
