time will tell, who knows excatly what the future holds? those above, however have spoken. everyone entitiled to their opinions :spit:

I would be sick to my stomach if the Texans pass on clear bpa to address need unless they trade down to add more depth. Also downbeat if Donald Brown or Shonn Green where avaiable in 2nd & Texans passed or Jeremiah Johnson or Rashad Jennings in 3rd. after that I would be open to anyone mentioned in the 4th or beyond. thanks to y'all for your valued opinions & help with this years RB draft class.
Be happy. We get FS William Moore and a 3rd and 6th (using last draft scenaro)in trade down. In 2nd we select Shonn Green In our 3rd, we are surprised that Matt Shaughnessy DE is available. In 4th, we select Jason Phillps ILB TCU. 5th round Ian Johnson a Slaton type back.

We trade the extra 3rd and 6th for Lito Shepherd CB.

See, I can make everyone happy

I dont see Ian Johnson getting drafted. I like the rest though.

another example is Carolina who drafted DeAngelo Williams #27th in 06 & came back in 08 with Jonathan Stewart #13 overall! how's that running game working for em?

- NFL Draft Scout

Yeah, but until this year, Williams was'nt producing. Slaton is. You dont get a complamentary running back in the 1st. It doesnt make sense when you haave needs everywhere else. Pittsburg could do it because they are really talented. We arent.

Is he gonna play OG or FB?

He weighed in at 295 and his bread & butter (goal line back) failed miserably in the Shrine game.

It's good for a goal line back to be big, but not so big that he can't even get momentum before he gets hit.

still like Jeremiah Johnson in the 3rd rd. similar package of skills to Slaton. second gear ability to run after the catch, playmaker written all over him. hope they can trade down & use extra 3rd on him too, cause the smart money is on a different position like safety/cb/de or dt. we need more picks man.

did notice one name today @ the Senior Bowl I was impressed with in the 6th/7th. Tony Flammetta, Syracuse 6-0 246 played FB but has quck feet, takes good power angels, can block & add reps on special teams.

My boy Ian Johnson better have a hell of a combine cause he embarassed me in East/West. He dropped from my 4th to not even a walk on FA. Come on Boise buddy!

That is what he is, a walk on. This is a deep RB draft IMO, and Johnson just does not have the quickness to get outside like he did in college. Nice college back who had a fairy tale season a few years ago.

impressed with Rashad Jennings, Liberty RB. nice catch Mari-OWNED :) not a weapon with break away speed like Jerimiah Johnson but a complete RB who could be a feature back & easily fit into a rotational role with Slaton. 4th rd. would be a steal :specnatz:

Somebody explain how this guy is going to help at RB .... :bag:

Arian Foster pulled a hammie. He drop out of the game.

Why not both ? Whats the word on Criss Taylor ?

Just to be different, goal line short yardage guy first. Then the double SS clone.

in the fourth-

Bernard Scott 5-11, 215 4.55 Abilene Christian

in the sixth Mike Goodson Texas A & M.

Changed my mind....in the sixth...Pat White.

Like the Mack and Jeremiah Johnson Picks btw.

I think that cats out of the bag now on Jennings. Can a college fullback be a candidate also ? I'm thinking about the LSU full Back.....that guy is cut. And he's a beast at blocking.

A guy I like is

Kory Sheets, Purdue, 6'0" 206 lbs: Basically was a main component of Purdue's offense which didn't have much besides Sheets. He is the all-time TD leader at Purdue who has great hands and can be a return threat as well. If he is there in the 5th or lower and we haven't selected a RB I would take him.

You guys pretty much have named all the other RBs.

After watching the Senior Bowl there were some good RBs that caught my eye:

One was Andre Brown from NC State who seemed to get more work than any other RB. He had a few good hard runs and got a few short yardage runs that resulted in first downs. He caught the ball exceptionally well out of the backfield and ran the screen play very effectively. Also he has good size and doesn't shy away from contact when taking on blockers.

Another one was Jeremiah Johnson from Oregon. He showed good speed out of the backfield and has good foot speed as well, he is a bit on the small side but would be another home run threat out of the backfield.

Kory Sheets had a great return and if his blockers could give him just a tenth of a second before somebody was there to meet him he would have had a few solid runs. There was one play where a LB and the ball were there simultaneously. He would be a great situational back.

Rashad Jennings the transfer to Pitt who came out of Liberty is probably the one back I would love the Texans to get. He has great size and speed and with him and Slaton we could definitely run down the defense and set up the play action bootleg for the Schaub to AJ TD Connection.

Some other backs did alright such as Peerman from Virginia, he had a fumble and that worries me but has some good size. James Davis had a few good runs, but for some reason I wasn't that impressed with him. Those are the ones that come into mind when I think back to Saturday's Senior Bowl. I am sure we can get a great value at RB in the 3rd round.

If Kory Sheets is there in the 5th Round and we haven't taken a RB in the draft or found someone in FA I would love for the Texans to get him.

done. nice job :)

Anybody else watch Texas vs. the Nation Saturday? a couple nice players for late round/undrafted status where Bernard Scott, 5-10 199 Abilene Christian & Frank Summers 5-09 243 UNLV (transfer from Cal). Scott has a burst, moves & cuts similar to Chris Johnson. have no idea what his time will be @ the combine but its much faster than listed, could create a buzz. Summers would be a steal if signed undrafted, I think he could make the Texans roster, at least the practice squad, very powerful lower body build, good hands untapped potential could project to power RB instead of FB in NFL. not sure about his blocking skill set.

I really liked the Summers kid, he can save a roster spot for a team and run the ball near the goalline.

interesting to look back already. my pick JJ has done nothing to distinguish himself while the Texans would be lucky to still have a shot @ Rashad Jennings in 3rd. nice pick Mari-Owned! :)

Yes indeed..I'm sure my guy will get drafted, though I'm a few rounds off the way it looks now..well we still have their Pro-Day for them to settle in (in terms of draft rounds).
