Texans cutdown to 53

Here's who the Texans cut to get to 53.

Not sure if the dust has settled. Looking through the other cuts, nothing shocking after looking at half the teams, thus far.

I think I read that there's a rule that if you place somebody on IR before cuts, you can't bring them back. They're lost for the season. You have to wait until after. I think they wait to put Warring on IR so that they can designate him to return. Makes no sense to keep 5 TE.

Not sure it's all done and dusted yet.
Texans will scan the various cuts and practice squads around the league for any potential QB's too.
If Rams cut Woolford, I would love to see us nab him.

I’m surprised they cut Joel heath.
Liked shan’t I seen from LT Leonard and NT Walter Palmore. Hope they make the practice squad.
Also thought Vincent Smith would make it this year.

Bringing in 4, losing 2. So 2 more players will need to be cleared from the roster.
But Clowney, Davenport and Bademosi are still shown on our 53 roster. Guess they couldn’t wait to Remove Rankin unless his earlier waiving before the trade was the reason.

I wasn't counting Bademosi. That means the Texans will only need to cut/IR one guy.

Looks like no one needs to be cut or IRed. Though do they really need Kalil, now?
OB may not give up on Kalil, just like he didn't give up on Blue, Savage and Hoyer. lol

Carrying 3 more offensive players than they have at least the last 2 years, and that's without a 3rd QB. Of course, game day #1 isn't here yet so that could, and is likely to change before then.

I can't imagine carrying 5 TE, or 4 for that matter, as I suspect Warring will hit IR-dtr soon.

And don't know why 10 OL are needed when they are all supposedly so versatile.

But again, lots of tweaks to be made before opening day, I would assume.

I would consider putting Warring on IR and let him fully heal up instead of turning him into Joppru V2.

I think they will, they just wanted to make sure they could designated him to return if need be. Putting him on IR before the cut deadline means they couldn't do that. He would have been lost for the season, which may be what you mean by letting him fully heal. Either way, I think a trip to IR is imminent. They just wanted the possible dtr.

They have 24 hours for Mingo and Martin to pass physicals Two more moves
I don't think I've read any mention of the possibility that Kalil might be IR'ed. So if they need two spots, Warring and Kalil?

Are there any rules on the number who can be on IR at any one time?

Higdon on practice squad. Raiders signing Crockett to practice squad. I liked Crockett. Hyde is Trash should have kept him.

Kalil has been cut.

Texans released OT Matt Kalil.
Between his $3.25 million base salary and another $2 million available in bonuses, Kalil's release could save Houston up to $5.25 million. This was a no-brainer for the Texans after acquiring stud left tackle Laremy Tunsil in Saturday's blockbuster trade with Miami. Kalil does have a Pro Bowl appearance on his resume, but he missed all of last year with a knee injury and did a lousy job protecting Cam Newton's blind side the last he played in 2017 (PFF's No. 74 tackle out of 83 qualifiers). The Texans and more importantly Deshaun Watson, are in much better hands with Tunsil anchoring the O line.

There is some gelling to do and fast....... Cause our GM mortgage the future to win now.

To be honest looks like a patch work 53

Hope i am wrong cause I would like to have some semblance of FUN this season........... its thin, this 53 is very thin.

BOB gambled and if it does not work out we are hurting for next 3-4 years. The next coach will be in a great disadvantage.

If he were good enough to be our starter why cut him now?
I think Rod Johnson outplayed him, but BOB wanted to start a vet next to the rookie Tytus, especially game 1 in NO. So he was a placeholder until the guys had some playing time and then Rod would have worked in. So if he is not starting, let him go.
