Furry Tractors
Houston Texans
Top Priority: QB David Carr must build on the improvement he made in the offseason under new head coach Gary Kubiak. Carr has made strides with his arm strength, accuracy, and footwork. His ability to run an efficient offense will be important for a unit that struggled in 2005 and made a few offseason changes.
Camp Confidential: The strongest competition will be on the defensive line, where four former starters-DTs Robaire Smith and Seth Payne and DEs Jason Babin and Antwaan Peek-are battling for two jobs. LE Mario Williams, the No. 1 overall pick in the draft, and free-agent LT Anthony Weaver are new starters who have given the line depth and an injection of talent. ...RB Domanick Davis' knee problems are forcing the Texans to look for a running back--or develop one quickly or training camp. Only veteran Antowain Smith has been healthy, and he's not the answer. ...Seth Wand is one option to fill the perennial void at left tackle. Wand (6-7, 330) has good size and athleticism, but his confidence is low after his poor 2005 season. Rookie Charles Spencer and veteran Ephraim Salaam will push for playing time throughout camp. --Megan Manfull.

Best Prank:Taking the keys to a guy's car so when he walks out in the morning he's late, usually to a meeting. You can only do that to the guys you are sure are going to make the team. I sleep with my keys in the pocket.
Strangest eating habits: The fat boys. They are always eating salads, and then they fill them up with bacon and cheese thinking they are going to lose weight.
Most disgusting thing you've seen: I've seen a guy wear the same underwear every day.
Hardest worker: I'd have to say Seth Payne. Always in the weight room. And not just doing a light workout.
Worst Hygiene: All those questions are for big guys. They smell like they haven't bathed in a couple of weeks.
This issue of the Sporting News is mostly about Training Camp, so you may want to go pick it up.
