The NFL Network reports the Houston Texans have reached a contract agreement with North Carolina State DE Mario Williams. He is now expected to be the first pick in the NFL Draft.
On KFFL. Sorry Texans fans, hopefully this is just a smokescreen to get Bush to sign faster but i would be outraged. The Texans are passing on a once in a lifetime player. I was lookign forward to playing Reggie Bush in week 1 too.

It's not a smoke screen. The #1 pick can sign anyone they want, but once they do, it's binding and they must honor that contract and draft that player.

Defensive lineman can't chnage the pace of a game like a Reggie Bush could. This stinks im not even a Texans fan and wanted him in Houston

I have no problem with helping the D Line, but NOT AT #!!!!!!!!!!! (where's the head banging agains the wall icon?)

All I can say is that I am happy about this pick. We didn't need Bush, but we did need someone like Mario. It is not every day that you can find a 300 pounder that can run a 4.6 - 4.7 in the 40. With the offense that we are going to be running, we can pick up a RB in the 4th and plug him in. Personally, I would love to see Taurean Henderson from Texas Tech in the 4th. I think he would fit perfectly in the Texans offense. Whatever else happens, I am a happy camper.

We havent even seen these players on the field, How can you criticize a team for taking the best player at a position of need??

This is crazy what are they thinking!!!!!!! We need an offensive weapon. I was ok with them not taking Vince Young, so thinking ok well here comes Reggie Bush, i was ok thats cool with me, but after finding out about this im not very happy. WAKE UP TEXANS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

No but if mario plays like scouts predict he can dictate the pace of the game.

its a lot easier to win a game when your defense gets the ball back for your offense,

Shouldn't they have traded down to get him? I mean, maybe it wasn't possible, but....

My guess it that it came down to who the Texans felt they could sign before the actuall draft. I know that was a big factor with the Texans upper management & guess they felt that Bush would not be able to be signed even before training camp started.
The word I hear is that Bush's agent wanted QB $$$ for Bush & also felt insulted that the Texans were trying to gain leverage by brining Williams into the fold. I don't think he believed the Texans were ever serious about signing Williams. His bad call just cost Bush even more $$$ then he will get with another team. Is this a bad move for the Texans? I guess only time will tell. Just give the team, as well as Mario, a chance. I will still support them.:yahoo:

Man, we lost all of those games last year so we could get Reggie and now we don't even get him. Oh well, we definately need an end more than we need a running back right now. Welcome aboard Super Mario. Let's get this season started!

Oh well, we can make fan signs now?

Congrates Markknolle and all other super Mario fans. I posted earlier that I thought this wasn't a smoke screen. Hope It's not like the Travis Johnson deal and we will get to see/read about the final thought process. CC tried to work a trade down and nobody believed us. Sometimes, you gotta bite the bullet and call. They're gonna lose a lot of fan base because of this. But i think it was a wise choice. He has the numbers to be something special. Wish it was Brick. And I wish Vincent all the luck in the world where ever he ends up.

This was Casserly's parting gift... The least he could have done was gotten us a "Ricky Williams" sorta deal before he leaves!
That's coming tomorrow when we pay to move up into the 26th out of a deep draft with chicago. And the hits keep on coming.
