Texans Add Another (FB Jameel Cook )

Obviously, our brilliant GM still has his fingers in the Pie. With the Texans in dire straights, desperately in need of quality personnel on both sides of the ball, we sign a Fullback. A position most NFL teams are eliminating (and for good reason).

every team carries a FB, and the best RB's in the business need a good blocking FB to follow. Look at Mack Strong at the Seahawks. Alexander has a given a lot of credit for his success to Mack (and the Oline).

For now it sounds like they plan on keeping Norris, he is a better blocker but isn't as athletic and probably isn't as good of a runner as Cook, but then again we haven't gotten to see Norris get a chance to run the last couple years here. I think Wells is gone, the Texans don't sound like they are overly concerned with resigning him and there isn't much reason to pay him very much money at all, we could find a 5th-6th round RB in Riggs or Humes that actually run with power and are cheaper than Wells. If we do draft Bush, I think Morency or Davis (likely Morency) will be gone, and I've heard Morency somewhat implied he'd ask for a trade if they got Bush rather than sitting as our #3 RB and not seeing the field. From purely a talent standpoint I'd probably rather keep Morency, I think he's the same type of RB as Davis but a little bigger and faster, but we have Davis locked in with a pretty big contract so it would be harder to move him and we'd take a decent cap hit for trading him and he's proven to be productive, so I think we'd keep Davis, look to trade Morency, then have Bush and Davis as our feature RBs and Cook and maybe Norris as FBs.

I'd be happy with Bush and Davis at RB and Cook and Norris at FB. Though I'd like to seeus keep Wells.

I have just firgured out that you guys that want Carr to go and be a pro bowler and be a playoff guy are the same guys that complain(ed) about the coaching and how bad our WRs are and that we dont have a TE and we need more weapons and the oline play is horrible and the fact that our QB RARELY has time to set his feet and be comfortable and the fact we dont have a Defense for the most part and with all this stuff going on you still want this guy to show you a pro bowl and playoff game, game in and game out.
"Take the team on his shoulders", some of you say, well the team has been on his shoulders for 4 years now, he needs a little help.

Nice generalization. If you wouldn't be consumed with defending each and every criticism of #8, warranted or not, you would recognze that most of the fans who see the big picture can see the weaknesses of the former coaching staff and weaknesses across multiple areas of the team including the QB. Recognizing that #8 isn't perfect is the first step in the program.

Yes, it's ridiculous to expect your QB to perform at "Pro Bowl and playoff game" level, game in and game out, but after 60 NFL starts I'm still waiting to use my second hand to continue counting the number of times I've seen that caliber of performance from Carr.

I happen to think Vince will be a better QB than Carr in a couple of years. So shoot me. I am also intrigued by what Carr might be able to do in Kubiak's system. I wrote that on January 5, I'm writing it on March 12, and I will continue to believe that until proven otherwise. In the meantime, I hope the Texans go 11-5 and make the playoffs every year.

How can you say this team has been on Carr's shoulders for 4 years, when the next minute you complain about him being a victim of unimaginative coaching and play calling (among everything else). Stick to the "he was being held back" and "had no protection" arguments. They are more defendable.

Hey Front Office! Here is your shopping list (in order of need) from a fan that has attended every home game the Texans have played (if you can call it that…): Offensive Left Guard, Middle Linebacker, Offensive Right Tackle, Tight End, Cornerbacks (2), Strong Safety, Running Back.

McKinney is going to be the LG. We can draft a RT in the second round. There is a reasonable chance that we will get Putzier. We can draft a CB (don't need 2). We can draft a SS. And we are most likely getting Reggie Bush.
