Texans 2024 division champs!

I'd say ideally you want an established system that you could plug a S2roud or Lawrence into, like what Mahomes & Purdy walked into. Trying to build with a young QB you're going to hit speed bumps.
Slowic attempted to move from a 49ers-style Shanny look (FB/2TE) to more of the McVay 3 wide variation (Diggs signing) this off-season. He has not put a clear stamp on the Shanny system to make his own like McVay, McDonald, and O'Connell have.

I would love to see somebody take the Ravens out before getting to us.
Nevermore!!

I know a guy.... he goes by his first, middle and last name so you know he owns a riffle.

Also, he will do anything for money cause he's Poe

He does "have a look" to him... don't he?

Should have stayed away from the booze and not married his 13 year old cousin for starters. Tremendous writer and Imagination but did not live a very good life. His death certificate cannot be found so maybe he is still alive? Hanging out with Elvis Presley, William Bonnie and the Sundance Kid.

Agreed. Then the way they were using Diggs was like an extension of the running game instead of as a true playmaker. Dell still working his way back from injury/GETTING FREAKING SHOT didn’t help matters.

Had I known they were planning to use Diggs the way they did I wouldn’t have supported the trade. That role can be found for relatively cheap cost in today’s NFL. Dime a dozen role.

The fear that I have is that Deebo Samuel will be signed after the 49ers cut him. Samuel is better suited for that specific role that you described but he won't be cheap, is often injured, and looks washed up this year.

Tank Dell coming back from injury and a bullet mattered. This last game was the first where I saw the full explosion and quickness from last year. Also, there seemed to be more times where Dell's size/strength disadvantage played into a completion not being made or interference not being called.

To me, the thing that made S2roud dangerous last season was the anticipation he played with, trusting his receivers to be where he was going to put the ball.

He doesn't seem to trust them anymore. The ball is coming out late if he even decides to let it fly.

That's what made him look like a 12 year vet last season & that's why the makeshift OL wasn't allowing near the pressure they've allowed this season. The ball was gone. He was playing much faster.

There's a lot of bad on the football team. A lot of bad that was there last season & should have been fixed. All that still needs to be fixed.

And, I'm grading Slowick on that same learning curve. He's not a seasoned offensive mind much less an OC. The Texans knew that going in & based on DeMeco's word they gave him a shot to grow into the position. & that's harder to do this year than it was last year if Cj is not playing like he did last year, which he isn't. That's not to blame Cj. It is what it is & it's something Slowick has to deal with.

CJ is a symptom of the underlying issue. Which is the O-line, we have zero run game to lean on and pass protection has been horrible all season. CJ has lost confidence in himself and in his protection. He doesn't trust what's happening in front of him and after getting pressured and hit way more than last year at this point, he has developed some bad habits and I agree he has been playing like crap. Happy feet, running into sacks, not planting his feet on some throws, etc. He did not have is top target/big play guy for a few games and the OC failed to adjust to that for at least 2 games. Add all that up together and you have a very impotent offense.

First thing first, fix the O-line, somehow manufacture a run game, and then hopefully CJ can recover his confidence and play up to his ability. They need some complimentary football on offense. This defense is Championship caliber, the offense needs to get something figured out. We will find out against the Chiefs. I'd love to see Mixon go off for 150 yards and 2 TD's en route to a win.

I was at the game and it was the first time seeing Dell play in person. And he is lightning quick, I knew he was fast but you should see it live. That jump cut he put on that gunner during the return was Barry Sanders-Esq, he's healthy now based on what I saw.

Right, he was never the OC in San Francisco, so while he was involved, he wasn't as invested in the system as McVay or the others. He's probably learing a lot of the why's in real time as he goes. He's probably realizing there's a lot he didn't know.

Doesn't mean he can't be a good/great OC. Just that he's a work in progress.

Chicken & egg.

The OL is not better than last season. I don't think they're worse either. Cj made them look better last season. I think it was because of the way he played with anticipation. He wasn't waiting for guys to "look" open, he trusted them to be open & the ball came out on time.

Go & watch Jt O'sullivan's QB school last season with S2roud. He was throwing the ball way before guys were out of their break, or before they cleared a defender into an open zone.

The OL needs to get fixed. & they're not helping anything, but I don't think Cj's play is a symptom of the OL.

I agree with a lot of your takes on this team, but I can’t get with this.

Hurts is not what the media make him out to be. Watch his games. His Oline is ELITE and so is his running game! Of course he’s gonna look good.

Herbert hasn’t done anything. Almost the same amount of TDs as CJ. And his running game is much better.

Purdy? Come on @steelbtexan thats laughable he’s garbage without his playmakers .

Wilson or Stroud? You’re gonna take Wilson over Stroud? Nobody would

Love is overrated.

Get with me next year on Daniels. See CJs second year.

And you are seriously putting 13 through 19 above CJ?? Kyler is garbage. If he sucks in the first quarter he sucks the whole game! Geno? Really? Tua? Look what he did Sunday… 3 picks! All he is good at is throwing bubble screens and behind the LOS. Rodgers is garbage.
You’re my guy but this is a bit far fetched
Tell me which of these guys he's playing better than this yr?

He's been an avg QB at best this yr and the next to worst against pressure, which was a knock against him coming out of college. He's really regressed. Can he turn things around this yr? I think he can, but he's gotta slow down his internal clock and take care of the ball much better.
