Does anyone have a good indicator of the market value of 2 PSLs in the lower endzone? Not sure of the exact section yet, around 101 or 135.

Alright experts, I need help. I have the opp. to buy 2 PSLs in the lower corner, but I have a question. What if their is a lockout? Am I stuck buying the tickets for nothing? Also, I can't make a lot of games over the year, maybe 3-4 tops. I know they had a bad season, but serious answers please, will I be able to sell the others for face? Thanks
 
I had 4 PSL's in Section 137 Row N. I ended paying $1250 for each and sold them for pretty much the same amount. I too only attended about four games a year. I didn't really have much of a problem selling the games i didn't attend. Either on Stubhub or on the boards. The other board sells better than this one, I might add. Way better.
 
That's what I'm thinking- I know I almost bought a few different games from you during the season and you told me to look out for some good PSL deals. I'm pretty sure I found one.. The only concern to me now is the lockout and transfer process. The dude from the Texans wants me to go through the marketplace, while I want to meet in person at Reliant, do some paperwork, and see my name as the new owner that day. Anyone know if this is possible? I just don't feel comfortable handing cash to someone who may or may not mail in the form, and the marketplace charges a fee to both the buyer and seller rather than a flat $250... Thanks for all the help- if this goes through, I'll certainly remember you guys when it's time to sell tickets.

1. I believe I read that eventually you will get a refund for any games not played due to the lockout.

2. You WILL have to pay for the tickets lockout or not.

3. Before you buy these, you have to be ok with selling the games you cannot go to for a loss. Many people bought tickets as 'investments' over the year and then get angry when they can't even give some games away.

Yes, some will sell high like MNF tickets, but good luck selling, say a Texans 4-8 team v. a 3-9 team from the west coast.

4. Before buying the PSL's, you have to be able to look in the mirror and say "I am buying these because they are awesome seats and I enjoy Texans games, even when the team sucks. I'll probably lose a lot of $ and I am ok with it."

What I advise:

-verify the owner is legit with the Texans
-exchange 1/2 the payment for a fully completed and signed transfer form
-second payment is made when the transfer has been cleared by the Texans

Not 100% safe but worst case you're only out half the $.
 
Screw their marketplace. They couldn't beat them so they bought them. Just another dollar on their pile.

And I'd ***** about the $250 transfer fee. Offer to come up there while their geek is at lunch and enter the new info in their system yourself.
 
Thanks for the advice. It's hard for me to know I'll likely lose money on these, even though the price I'm buying them at is pretty fair. Seems like the going rate for these is $1,100 a seat- if I chose to resell them should I no longer want the PSL, does anyone know how hard/long it takes to sell them at that price? I'm paying less than that now.
 
I've bought and sold two different sets of PSLs. The first set sold in 3 weeks - the second set more like 3 months. I could have sold the second set close to the original cost much faster - probably a week or two. Both times, however, we were coming off either 8-8 or last year 9-7. It is all in the timing, I think. I made money on the second set - I did little more than break even on the first set.

Yankee gave some excellent advice. I think of PSLs like a boat - a fun luxury that costs more than you think it will (when you factor in tail gating, drinks at game, travel, etc). If it is worth the expense all depends upon the individual.
 
Thanks guys. I'm going to get these for a decent price and see what happens- probably end up keeping them and going to the games I can/selling the others unless someone offers me a fair price for them.

Update: Got the PSLs. Seller was very helpful and nice. Hoping for no lockout now!

You won't make money selling individual tickets. That is a cold hard fact of the mediocre Texans organization. I have been a season ticket holder since day one and I have as of yet to make any money selling the games I can't make and making any amount of profit to speak of. There is the occasional 'weird' game like the Dallas game last year, but that is a very rare exception, and in the long run, it still only makes me break about even on the times I have lost money selling them less than face value, or given the tickets away, cause no one wants to see a final game of the season when neither team is going to the playoffs.

Best advice would be to buy the PSL's and then ask someone to split the season with you, if your only going to make 4 games a season. That way you can divide the cost of the tickets and know ahead of time which games you can make and which games the other person will attend.

If you want my honest opinion, you might be better off waiting until near the beginning of the season and investing the same money into buying the full season ticket package from ebay or another member of the board. Only reason to buy a PSL is to ensure the same seats every year. Trust me, there are plenty of full season ticket packages on ebay at the start of every season and some are very near the original season ticket holder cost.

Remember even after you buy the PSL, you still have to buy the season tickets which is a fairly large investment of money, for someone who is only going to attend 4-5 games a year. IMO.
 
Ive bought PSL's for 1200 a set to 2000 a set of two. The idea is to be patient and buy when the prices drop. ( Like when the season tickets bill is due everyone wants to get rid of the PSL. March - May ) And dont be afraid to offer less. Dont waste your money buying them off of ebay, because you will pay the markup. As long as you purchase the PSL at a reasonable price, you will get you money back in the end. Just my 2 Cents.
 
I agree with everything above, both Pete and rrequen2 (sorry, can't rememebr your name!).

One thing we all agree on is if part of your decision is (a) will you be able to sell the games for at LEAST face value and (b) will you be able to re-sell the PSL's for at LEAST what you paid.

Assume the answer to both is no and see if you still want to buy them?


And Pete has a good idea - if you can only make 4-5 games, find someone to split the season with. Selling individual game tickets is a huge hassle. People hem and haw, back out, don't show up to get the tickets, try to lowball you, etc, etc.....
