After reading John Harris review of D.E. Matt Roth in Insider Scouting Report I questioned Harris about drafting Roth to eventually replace Foreman. Per Harris Roth could go anywhere from late 1st round to middle of second. Lance Zerline's mock has Roth @ 24 to Greenbay as an immediate starter on the line. At 6'3" 262 he has the build for linebacker. Harris replied that he thought OLB was better fit & if paired with Babin would tear up the opposition's backfield. Let's say Casserly pulled a Babin type trade up. Babin & Roth on outside with Wong and Sharper in middle. A decent d'line or corner @ 13 would help solidify the defense. Thoughts?

I agree with you that Peek needs to be on the field but his discipline is the reason why he doesn't start or play much. He is an excellent talent but he is very hard-headed from what I understand. I personally would love to see Derrick Johnson on the outside if he were to drop but in all honesty I feel very content with what we have right now. Wong could play inside and be very effective if needed. A mature Peek and a seasoned Babin could be a force.
 
yes i wanna see peek on the field alot more than i have seen in the past, and sometimes beign hard headed is not such a bad thing !
 
Peek hasn't proven he can handle the job without suffering an injury. If we relay on giving him the job and he ends up injured all the time, then we've gained nothing.
 
hard headed? what is this based on? have you ever met the man? he is a very down to earth person that is far from hard headed. And he got hurt diving to make a touchdown this season because of an ackward landing that would hurt anyone. Thats how anatomy works, if you land on a joint certain ways, the joints dislocate. They guy can play, he has a great attitude, a killer instinct, and talent.
 
Most of you never really will understand Antwan's story, and at one time I didn't either. He had a very very rough experience that has scarred him for life. So, no he is not hard headed, but I can see why he sometimes loses his cool

You dont know his real story either, just what is printed in the paper. The only reason he gets crazy sometimes is due to the fact that he actually plays hard ALL the time, something not too common in the pros. He tries to make plays.

my point was not that the paper wasnt true, but that reading a story doesnt mean you can really understand someone. yeah, people know his childhood was rough, but that doesnt mean that he is some nut walking around because of it. He is simply a guy that is greatful of a chance to play football for a living. he plays the way he does because he wants to win, not because of anything else.

Good point. When they do actually let him play, he always goes 100 mph. Can you fault the guy for playing with passion. Isn't that what this game is about?

Hell Yeah, you tell him KID! :boxing: Peek is a force that needs playing time. How can he become a good lb if he sitting behind Wong. I have said since the end of the season that the defense would be a lot better off with Peek and Babin on the outside and Wong and Sharper in the middle. Why draft another guy? That would only push Peek further down the depth chart. Same thing with out young receivers, got to let these guys play! :heh:
 
After seeing how Peek got into Glenn's (Colts) head and how he was giving Manning so much trouble, I'd give him Wong's spot in a heartbeat. If Foreman isn't at 100% then you can put Wong there for the mean time.
 
If you can get Peeks head on straight and get him to support against the run, he would be GREAT at OLB. The problem is he gets off the reservation easy and lets his emotions get the best of him. Could be a really good OLB if he gets under controll.

I agree 100 % . Peek needs to get more playing time . I just can't wait to see him finally get out there and start causing havoc on oposing teams ....... thats if he can keep his temper down .

He did get better stopping the run this year when he was in. Its not like he just runs after the quarter back every play without watchign the ball. He stopped some cutbacks at Indy, he never really over committed this season. The one thing that may need change is that when he speed rushes they can run underneath him. Two solutions are getting the ILB over quicker to stop that because the RB has only that one hole to run through, or simply have him not speed rush on certain plays. I think if the coaching was there for him telling him not to speed rush so much, then it would be eliminated. His head is on plenty straight, just a bit of refinement in his game and even in the coaching a bit would even it all out. Playing with emotion is what drives him, it gives him confidence. Its no different than some players needing to act a bit cocky to get their swagger down and play well. You shouldnt ask a player to change his style and his personality unless it is really damaging, and playing hard is not

IMO after the season Wong had I would start him over Foreman or Peek. I don't see Wong matching the intensity Peek brings but he is definitely as effective.
