Terrell Owens Thread

BETHLEHEM, Pa. -- Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver Terrell Owens exchanged words with head coach Andy Reid at a team meeting Wednesday and was asked to leave, according to news reports.

Owens then got his belongings and cleared out of Eagles training camp at Lehigh University, according to two television reports. He was expected to return to his home in Atlanta, ESPN's Sal Paolantonio reports.

Earlier Wednesday, he had missed practice for the fifth time in six days because of a left groin injury.

Owens worked out with the team's assistant trainer for about 20 minutes on a separate playing field from his teammates, catching balls from a machine and doing some light running. He did not speak to reporters or acknowledge the fans who chanted his name.

The All-Pro receiver sat out practices last Friday and Saturday. He returned Sunday for both the morning and afternoon sessions, but hasn't practiced since.

Owens is unhappy the Eagles have refused to redo his contract as he enters the second season of a seven-year, $48.97 million deal.

Last season, Owens had 77 receptions for 1,200 yards and a franchise-record 14 touchdowns receptions before severely injuring his ankle late in the season. He missed the final two regular-season games and the first two playoff games before returning for the Super Bowl, in which he had nine receptions for 122 yards.

When asked about Owens leaving camp, his agent Drew Rosenhaus said it was a matter between Owens and Andy Reid. Rosenhaus declined to talk about it further.

I love it.

Eagle fans have turned on T.O. this time more than all the other shananigans he has pulled. I really do not see this with a happy ending for the T.O.-Eagle relationship.

Some reports say he left camp on his own, some say he was kicked out for a week.

I still can't understand why anyone would want this guy on their team. His talent is limitless, but so is his potential to distract an entire team with his immaturity and stupidity.

I hope he sits out the season. I really do.

T.O. rumors

The argument between T.O. and Andy Reid were over him not showing up at scheduled autograph signing the last two days.

T.O. may have been confronted infront of other teammates and felt that Andy should have handled the matter privately.

Today T.O. groin was fine at practice, but practiced on a seprate feild than the rest of the team.

And it is still unsure whether he was actually kicked out, or simply left being upset.

"610WIP Sports Radio in Philadelphia reports Philadelphia Eagles WR Terrell Owens will not be traded despite him walking away from the team during camp Wednesday, Aug. 10. Owens also will not be fined by the team for leaving early Wednesday, but the team will start fining him $6,000 per day starting Thursday, Aug. 11, should his absence continue. Owens would lose approximately $200,000 per game, should he not be on good terms with the team during the regular season. "

Still no official report from Philadelphia Eagles, but I will update you as I receive information.

So if your really interested in this story you might want to check it out.

Eagles have there problems, but Dallas still sucks

T.O. is now apparently doing crunches ouside his house, signing autographs for neighbors, and shooting hoops.

ESPN

The following is a blurb from the article:

If the truth needs to be told, that's what I'll do," Owens told the Inquirer.

"I mean, if he [Reid] wants to be a man about it and really have me go on the air and tell people what happened, then I can.

"But it was a difference of opinion. I think the report is now that I was blowing my fans off. That's not the case. My fans have been great. They have been great.

"When I was out there on the field, I was attending to my business. They are telling me to go out there and perform and go out there and practice.

"I'm not going into further detail about the altercation," Owens said to the newspaper.

Owens referred further questions to his publicist.

The Inquirer also said on sports talk radio station WIP, former NFL player Gary Cobb said he had talked to an Eagles player today who said the dispute started over Owens' morning workout.

According to Cobb, the player told him that Owens was supposed to be off today in order to rest his strained groin muscle and Reid was upset to see him running pass routes at full speed. When Reid suggested that if Owens felt good enough to run routes all out, he should be good enough to attend practice, and the player told Cobb that the argument escalated from there.

That may be the craziest thing I've ever heard if it is true.

I wonder if he was mumbling to himself "I'm not crazy" while doing those crunches? This guy is borderline nutty.

Dude is a prima dona. Nobody is above the NFL, regardless of how talented they are or what they think they are worth.

Glad he's not on my team!

Just idle curiosity but what's the cap hit for the Eagles if they waive him? Anyone know?

His signing bonus was in the $8 mil neighborhood on a 7 year deal so releasing him would create 6/7th's of the $8 mil as dead money or $6.9 mil. Fact is some team would trade for him.

i really don't think the Eagles are going to try to trade him. they will probly try to get another WR, but they won't go jumping into getting rid of T.O. just yet.

After the Hall of Fame Game on Monday night, all the talk on the radio and TV shows is about Ricky and TO was placed on the back burner. I think TO did this to get back in the headlines, where he and his ego like to be. :twocents:

If you really want to drive a narcissist like TO nuts, everyone should ignore him. The media, the fans, and his teammates. Make him personal non grada.

Like that will ever happen... :brickwall

Rumors disolved.
T.O. full speed practice on a seprate feild than team was not permitted at by AR. He was to reast his groin today.
T.O. is banned for one week.
When confronted about the full speed practice, it was not in the presence of other player. Reports say T.O. used an explitive directed toward AR, T.O. denies saying "No, I dont cus that much"

Also the circus at T.O. house has started again, as he brought a yoga mat in his front driveway

I would like to see T.O. benched for this nonsense, I think thats the only thing that will make him realize he can't do whatever he pleases

Ignoring him would be good. CSN flying a helicopter over his house, watching him play basketball and lifting weights .. rather stupid.

T. O. is a coaches nightmare. He has excellent talent, you would not ever want to lose him, and you know another team will pick him up at the drop of a dime. So Philly is going to do what they are doing now. Put up with his crap and hope he grows up. I have to give it to the Vikings though, they shocked me when they let Moss go. Andy Reid :brickwall

Yo! T.O! Blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.

You play the media limelight even better than you play the football field. That's a complement. I look forward to seeing you in the limelight. We'll watch for others on the field!

I really sincerely believe Owens has mental issues. He has an overwhelming desire to be in the spotlight and doesn't seem to be happy unless he is.

I heard the guys on 610 say the other day that McNabb wasn't even speaking to him.

The Eagles are going to implode unless they get rid of him. Not that that is a bad thing.

If I were the Eagles and someone wanted to trade for him I'd make that trade. Hell I'd take a pack of peanuts and a warm Coke for him.

Makes you that much more appreciative we've got a guy like Andre. All the skills TO has, none of the headache

You're so right. I don't get the media preoccupation with Terrell. It's pretty common knowledge he's a knucklehead. No need to egg him on.

What's with ESPN showing clips of him shooting baskets in his driveway?

The Media makes me sick here. They make this guy feel like such a hot shot, all of them trying to ask him the same questions over and over... Get him off the front page, and cover a story worth my time.

Pretty funny to see MJ in front of the star, though. Good fodder for messing with my Cowboys bandwagon buddies. :heh:

Ah yes, the same people wearing their Members Only jackets back in the mid-80s are now off the King of Pop's bandwagon. :D

Holy cow what a waste of a decade.

And those would be the majority of bandwagon Cowboy fans in Houston that no longer wear blue and silver when they suck! (just like MJ's tunes :heh: )

I agree with you about a waste of a decade. With the exception of Primus and thrash metal, there is very little to salvage from that particular era.

T.O. was just being an ***** as usual. I think part of that was to show the Eagles he can do whatever he wants (earlier this offseason T.O. was invited to shoot hoops with a pro team but the eagles told him no)

ROFL, since all of you guys are somehow connecting Michael Jackson's abuse with children to the Cowboys, I will edit my post and replace it with the Spider-Man breaking it down emoticon. Good grief lol :

Excuse my ignorance but what is a "Members Only Jacket"?

Just be thankful you don't know. But if you insist upon finding out, just rent Breakfast Club or any of that genre of teen movies from that time period.

i missed the PTI interview, but I hear it was just another episode on the T.O. circus, anyone got a link where I can listen to it?

I'd forgotten about those Members Only until Huge modeled his jacket. :heh:

Publicity stunts are TO's modus operandi. This latest stunt should not be a surprise to anyone.

It makes great television, though, as long as it ain't my team!

That tackle was an example of one he could had avoided. Did you see the one in the Monday Night game? He had no other choice. Talking this past Monday Night game. Dolphins and the Bears.
