Teddy Bridgewater

Seriously? You think because of how he answered a question for a fluff piece from a local news network, that he will give the same answer to GMs and HCs during interviews? Come one now, be logical.

Regarding your first post, I get what you are saying, but you are interpreting it all wrong. Sure Teddy does not have a TV personality like Mazniel, and maybe lacks the some spark and charisma when doing television interviews, but what matters is the content of his words, now how he presents them.

Seems like there is a guy on our team now that is low key, short answered, and mellow, and he is is one of the best to ever play his position. ;)

Manziel and Bridgewater are their own persons, neither personality is better.

Don't see teddy interviewing well.
Reporter- Teddy, what do you need to improve on?
Teddy - gets and dumbfounded look on face, then answers with a confused tone, "uh-nothing".

Yeh just not seeing it. Manziel on the other hand, well he's going to blow everyone away. He's got personality, confidence and swagger that sets him apart from any other top prospect in this draft.

If he isn't prepared to answer a SIMPLE question like that yet from a reporter how is he going to respond next week to his peers in the biggest job interview in his life? I don't have. Problem with either of them. I've said a thousand times I'll be happy with either guy. But you can't tell me if you were in charge of drafting the next Cornerstone of your franchise you wouldn't look negatively at a player that wasn't even prepared enough to answer simple questions.

You're the boss you have two guys coming In To interview with very similar resumes, one hesitates to answer each question, doesn't seem prepared and kinda lulls his way through the interview. The other one is quick to respond with confident well thought out answers and just seems to flow through the interview without hesitation. Who you gonna hire? Yeh thought so.

Like I said, you are reading way too much into a stupid little local news interview. The same way people were blowing Manziel's "dare comments" out of proportion. Actually if you think about it they are kinda in the same fold. Teddy says he has nothing he needs to work on, Johnny says he will make us regret not drafting him...but they said it to reporters, not to O'Brien or Rick Smith while sitting down in a professional interview. The media is the media and how you approach them is often very different than how you approach your coaches and teammates and this applies to any fact of the game. Whether is be interviewing for a potential team or talking about a tough loss. You don't give the reporters the same answers or that you give your teammates after a bad loss do you?

I imagine if Manziel had said it, this would be the kind of "Joe Cool, brash, arrogance we want to see in a franchise QB."

I think everyone is missing the point. It's not what he said. It's how he said it. I don't have a problem at all with him saying what he said. It just seems to me that he looked/sounded unprepared to answer the question. The interview is a very important part of the process. When you are being considered for the most important position on the team, you are expected to show confidence, intelligence and a presence that let's the guy know who's putting his job on the line for picking you that you are capable of leading the team.

You would think he would have been doing practice interviews till his head was spinning. It's more than obvious Manziel has been.

Looks to me like he's been practicing playing QB, which is ultimately what his job will be. I'll admit, when their playing careers are over Manziel is the one who is more likely to get an ESPN job offer.

My QB's on field confidence, intelligence, and presence is far more important to me than the persona he plays in front of a reporter.

Andre doesn't ever look particularly comfortable in interviews. He must not be leadership material...

So you're saying the interview means nothing?

And please stop with this Andre comparison. It just doesn't even fit. Show me a successful QB with Andrea demeanor.

Mussop the ultimate troll lol...

The way he answered it? 1 question tells you that? Wow, i guess luck didn't interview well either considering how little swag & bravado he showed in interviewing with Gruden here.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O0PY-POQbEo

He was too busy stammering & giggling like a little school girl the entire interview to really project any confidence...From this we can only infer how disaterous his interviews went which ultimately cost him millions of dollars in the draft when he fell........oh wait..:sarcasm:

We also saw how "polished" Geno Smith answered questions lobbed at him about his skills last year....didn't seem to help him much as we saw him fall from possible top 5 to early 2nd rounder.

TB is humble...probably moreso than any guy with as much coming to him as any kid i've ever seen since Lebron James.

yes the question probably caught him off guard a little...But dude was out there in the middle of a workout......locked in getting better. I would hope he's not out there in the middle of practice thinking about how to answer a loaded question about his skill as best he can.

I'll admit he didn't look like he believed it... but that's me. I don't like the guy.

I don't like Jonny Manziel.

I don't like Blake Bortles.

Now if they were available at 20... then I love them, but right now. Hate.

And in rush The knights in shining armor to protect their Beloved prospect. How Dare me even suggest that Bridgewater could fail in his quest to be the number one pick to an equally talented foe because of something as trivial as the interview. Silly me, you can't throw Td's in an interview.

The interview means NOTHING!!!! I'm a troll for voicing my opinion that an equally talented Manziel could win this race to #1 because he is better prepared for the actual face to face get to know one another portion of the process. No I'm the "ultimate troll"!!!!! Despite the fact that I never said this is what I want to happen. Despite the fact that I have said time and time again that I'm perfectly happy with selecting Bridgewater.

Sorry you're man love for Bridgewater has clouded your judgement to the point where you can't endulge in simple objective conversation about the process of the draft without getting your panties in a wad. You should probably take a mydol. I'm sure you have some. Look in your purse next to your tampons.

Sorry that you can't see that at this point in the process interviewing well should be so drilled into a prospects head that he should be able to do well while hanging upside down choking on a chicken wing.

Sorry that you can't see past your emotional ties and have an objective conversation about particulars of the draft in a draft forum without calling someone names.

Of course he didn't believe it...If he truly did believe it i would be concerned b/c that would signal to me that he's not interested in getting better...And everything i've read & heard about the kid says that that isn't in his makeup.

But it was a loaded question..a bad loaded question at that. I mean seriously, how's a guy supposed to answer a question like that right before the biggest interview of his life?

If he answers truthfully, he draws increased attention to it from scouts...

if he answers the way he did, he makes scouts do their own homework & draw their own conclusions.

Team interviews = Yes

In the end, it's all about what's on film

You honestly believe he will interview well in the most intimidating, important interview he will ever have in his life if he can't even interview well with a simple reporter? I agree film is the most important part of all of this. My point is if two guys have equal film it's got to come down to something else. If one aces the interview and one is meh???? You can't concide that could be the deciding factor?

That's all I'm saying. Not that I want that to happen. Not that I don't like Bridgewater. In fact I think he is more NFL ready than Manziel right now. It's just my opinion that it appears he isn't as prepaired for the interview process as Manziel is. In such a close race, again just my opinion it's a very close race, that could be a deciding factor.

Wow. A loaded question? That question is asked all the time especially to top QB's.

Me not being objective? What a joke.

you're the one in here talking about his response to 1 damn question = him not interviewing well at the combine.

You're the one in here getting mad b/c multiple people have called you out on the absurdity of your premise.

You're the one in here trying to make the leap of 1 question equalling a whole damn interview.

You're also in a TB thread expecting not to get flamed for making such claims.

Noone said anything about Interviews not being important....At least i didn't anyway.

I'm not being objective....:toropalm: The sad thing in all of this is that had you actually read what i wrote, you would've ascertained that i understood what you were trying to say & actually agreed with you that he was caught off guard & seemed unprepared by the question. I just disagreed with you that it meant he wouldn't interview well at the combine.

Get over yourself.

Wow. A loaded question? That question is asked all the time especially to top QB's.

Never said it wasn't...Still, it doesn't mean that it's a good question to ask...what's more is that how they answer that 1 question is no more a predictor of how they will interview at the combine than say a 40 time is predicting how well a guy will run the ball in a game...or more broadly to what you're really trying to get at, how they will play qb in the NFL.

It wasn't about one question. That was just an example. He doesn't look comfortable. He doesn't look confident. He doesn't Look assertive. Why would I get flamed for pointing out something as simple as he doesn't appear to interview well? You're the only one doing any flaming. You started out your post with"mussop" the ultimate troll LOL!

"Lol" at the end of that implies that i was half way joking with you dude, relax. I'm in joke mode b/c i know that if there's someone with something negative to say about the kid it's you, Texian and probably Steelb or Dissacks...& everyone who's frequented this thread knows this; Kinda like me and a few others in the Manziel thread LMAO...Nothing wrong with it, just be prepared to deal with whatever comes your way...especially in a thread dedicated to the subject.

Does he look as comfortable in front of camera as Manziel? No. But neither does Bill Belichick & he's the best in the business at his job...Not that i'm saying TB is going to be the best qb in the league...just making a point that some guys just are never going to be as polished & comfortable in front of the camera as say a Peyton Manning....

All in all, unless you have empircal evidence, You can't possibly make the leap that you did.

There is such a thing as quiet confidence.

If By now you don't understand what I'm really trying to get at then you have a comprehension problem that goes beyond my ability to communicate with you. But I'll try one more time. Pull your head out of Bridgwater's ass far enough so that you can understand this. I love the way Bridgewater Plays. I think he's ahead of Manzella this point. I think Manziel has a higher ceiling but lower floor. I will be happy with either. In my opinion this is a very tight race between the two of them. In my opinion is going to come down to something like the interview process to separate one from the other. If You can't understand that, there's nothing else to say. Except don't forget the Midol.

well that was actually a good response. Sorry I took it wrong. Maybe I need a midol. However I don't what you are talking about when you say I would have something negative to say about Bridgewater. That's far from the truth. I have defended all four prospects at some point. Don't think I have said anything negative about any of them.

ONE MORE ONE MORE!!!

But put some more damned weight on the bar first.

Damn.

95 pounds? Seriously?

EDIT: Unless those are 25 KILO plates. At which point, that becomes maybe 155 pounds or so and that's good. But those look like 25 pound bumper plates to me.

Seriously, though.

Lots of things it could be.

There are some routines where you work out with a small percentage of 1RM in order to train explosiveness.

One coach made a point by putting me through a workout where he didn't use any weight heavier than 25 pounds and he liked ta kilt me.

Yep. I was just trying to get ahead of the people calling him weak based on just this picture (before this off-season I would have doubted anybody would do that. Now...)

Those low weight sets can be brutal.

Just a normal kid with a humble backround. His story with his mom hit close to home, that won me over as soon as I saw it. While Manziel was out partying and causing headlines this kid was helping his mom fight cancer.

Much respect to him. But I'm getting tired of hearing about it. Starting to remind me of Manti Teo's girlfriend.

Dude, really?

Manziel flew to Houston for a Valentine's Day-themed fashion show fundraiser for 6-year-old Texas A&M fan and cancer patient Charlie Dina, according to Culture Map Houston, which also reported that Texans general manager Rick Smith was in attendance, as well. Manziel and Dina walked the runway, and Manziel signed some autographs afterward.

"I was here for Charlie," Manziel said. "I've been in training for the last month in San Diego and I flew in just for Charlie."

Manziel has been supporting Dina's cancer fight, which included a bone marrow transplant, since 2012.

http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap20...anziel-makes-6yearolds-night-at-charity-event

"I love you."
Those were Johnny Manziel's final words to six-year-old Charlie Dina as he kissed him on the cheek and put him back on the Kyle Field turf.
He then turned to Dina's parents, hugged both of them and said, "I love you."
As Manziel ran back to the locker room following another Heisman-worthy performance, he left three people in the south end zone with smiles that could've been seen from Northgate.
For those that don't know the Charlie's Angels story, google "Charlie Dina." The six-year-old from Houston is finally cancer free. He was diagnosed with stage-four neuroblastoma, a pediatric cancer, in 2012. He underwent five rounds of chemotherapy, radiation and other treatment before scans showed no evidence of the cancer in May of 2013. Dina was a guest of the Fightin' Texas Aggie Band at last night's game. The entire band wore yellow Charlie's Angels wristbands. Dina was able to hang out with Manziel during the pregame and hang out with the band throughout the night.

He's been doing this since before he turned into Johnny Football.

OK you win I will be a Manziel fan now, screw Teddy.........

Why's it gotta be that way? You don't have to hate on a guy just because you like the competition better. Just be honest. I've said nice things about Manziel, Bortles, Murray, Shaw, Mettenberger (that was a while ago though), Garopollo, Logan Thomas.....

It really doesn't matter to me. I think we're going to get 3 or 4 solid starters out of this draft. Maybe one of them will be a true franchise QB. I'd love for it to be "my guy" (if I had a guy), but if the Texans get one of the 3~4 & I get a home play-off game every year, I'll be happy.

Its all in good fun, there is nothing really that hasnt been said so we just have to wait until the combine. Even then I dont think anyone's mind will change. I respect everyones opinion especially if when their picks are not influenced by the hype media.

I'm pulling for Teddy at #1. I respect him for what he and his mother went through. What I was referencing was the shot you took at Manziel for no apparent reason, especially since Manziel is involved with a cancer patient very personally.

OK, I was wrong, I was not aware of that. I just relate more to Teddys situation with my own mother.

You have something you want to say? Say it don't be scared!!

You made an assumption as to two prospect's future interview answers in which one (Bridgewater) can't answer and the other (Manziel) "blows everyone away." It sounded ridiculously biased and deserved a good face palming. And in your response to the facepalm, you come off like an angry teenager.

Keep doing you.

My post was a little tongue in cheek, if you notice I didn't say that I've ever said anything good about Teddy.... everybody else, but not Teddy.

I couldn't be more unbiased. In fact I've probably been the most unbiased poster On this message board when it comes to the top four candidates.

All reports are that Manziel has prepaired for the interview process with great success. Then a day before the combine starts Bridgewater is dumbfounded In a simple tv interview. You don't think that is discussion worthy? Here? What else is there to talk about at this point?

I couldn't be more unbiased. In fact I've probably been the most unbiased poster On this message board when it comes to the top four candidates.

Everyone is bias, repeatedly stating that you are not doesn't change anything. You are a Manziel fan, no shame in it...although I think the stink about Bridgewater's answer is beyond nit picking.

If Bridgewater answers the same question the same way when interviewing this the Texans, then yeah its safe to say he won't be the pick...but assuming he would make such a poor effort to answer a question is wrong.

For the record though, I do understand what you are saying. Manziel's personality ar more commands a room than Bridgwater's does, and that undoubtedly will have an impression on everyone that interviews Johnny...to what degree, and whether to not that rises him on GMs boards will vary.

Manziel's personality may be much stronger than Bridgewater's, but it is also probably far more polarizing.

I know plenty of string personalities that fill a room but aren't likeable. We'll see if he wins over the Texans FO.
