This is a problem I now have to face too. Just love how the people who do it right are the ones that have to pay and are punished for the actions of few asshats.

Isn't this what we have to deal with the actions of a Democratly controlled congress?

As I've said before, I like the policy. Those of us who take friends or family, we'll find a way to get them their ticket. If I have to make a choice of going out of my way on a Sat night to take a friend a ticket over having to deal with gangs and troublemakers, I'll make the trip to my friends house with a smile on my face, or meet him/her half way. I've had to "eat" the cost of tickets many times before, so if someone backs out on gameday, that's just tough luck. I can always hand a ticket to someone through the fence also, and they can walk in. Those of us who pay mega bucks for tickets and parking passes should feel relieved, I know I am. It WILL work out, we just have to be patient and let the process work.

its good !!! :bravo:im in the orange lot by reliant arena alway a damn fight 3 rows down and trash !!!! left everwhere im glad it happened now my family and i i and a few friends with other season ticket holders can enjoy tailgating and the texans :fans:

I'm a little confused.

I park in Orange Lot, but because of the extra traffic, they parked me in the middle of Reliant Parkway. It didn't take me long to get in, didn't take me long to get out. So I really didn't see much of the problem.

But, I thought you coldn't drive in without a parking pass.... is it really possible for people to print up multiple parking passes? As convenient as that is, and as obvious as that has to be, if that did lead to the problem, wouldn't it be prudent to remove that privelidge?

Also, not all the tailgates are huge affairs. The big ones, taking multiple lots should be (IMHO) moved to designated areas closer to the stadium. That way they shouldn't be blocking the vehicles exiting Reliant.

Has any of you tailgaters who normally take up multiple spots ever had anyone check the number of parking passes you have? I don't know that they are checking, but I think they should be.

Finally.... For the tailgates that are drawing lots of people (& we all know who they are)... Reliant ought to be splitting the money with you. I don't know the numbers, But if there are 20 large tailgates total, there should be a weekly contest with 20 winners in the money. Large tailgates cost several hundreds of dollars in food alone, so if $10 a ticket, 2000 tickets don't cover the bill, they need to dip into some of that parking pass money to get at least a couple hundred to all the large, people (fans) gathering tailgates.

All the Texans need to do is scan the parking passes, as once you generate the on-line parking pass the hanging tag is deactivated, but they do not scan them, I know lots of people who basically make their single pass a double but only have one at the gate then just pull the tag off the bad one and spread out in the lot

We have 3 extra spaces available for tailgating after all vehicles are parked. We are on the front row of the orange lot. I would say we get checked about 2-3 times per season to make sure that we have the correct amount of passes for our tailgate. We have never had a problem, but this past weekend was nuts! I know one group down from us that has 2 cars park on the white lines next to their tailgate where no car could possibly get in so they take an extra space without paying for it. It really pisses me off! I wish their number one concern would be to CHECK PARKING PASSES and HOW VEHICLES ARE PARKED!

The folks who park outside and bring in a case of beer , start fights , aren't making the Texans one dime . The folks who pay 150 bucks for an 18 dollar parking pass and then straddle the lines so they have more room to party aren't responsible for a penny of the Texans profit . Anyone going to a game just to party in the parking lot is not who the Texans cater to and frankly if I don't have a ticket , I'm not going to the stadium because drinking at 8:00 am without a ticket means your a drunk . Drinking at 8:00 am with a ticket means your a fan . :drunk:

Well thank god, I am not a drunk, just a fan, that is what I keep telling them at the Betty Ford Center

Another question. Has this been a chronic problem, or was this an isolated incident?

Does this happen for Colts & Titans games (other than the Cowboys, those are the teams I would think get the biggest draws)....

If this happened after that one game, and they put these limits & a $10 price tag on tailgating because of this one incident..

I think it's the wrong move.

IMHO (and I think the Texans agree) the parking lot crowd has been getting larger and more drunk since the Pats game of last year. What I call the 'free party' crowd. They don't come to enjoy tailgating, they come for a 'free party.'

The point I am making here is that people use up parking that they are not entitled to. That is part of the reason we had people with parking passes with no place to park.

What kind of issues do you see? I have heard the yellow shirts are pretty good about making sure people have enough passes for the space they are using?

Is that not actually the case?

this i agree with! though im not a season ticket holder, when i was walking to my tailgate party, i saw a mercedes yelling at a parking attendant cause there was no parking and was getting redirected for like 30 min she said. i know for a fact its cause people were taking up too many spaces with just one pass.

they should of directed every car coming on with the right amount of spaces they were entitle too

Do other teams do this or is it just us ????

There goes our #1 tailgate team in the NFL status

seriously how do yall support this its going to be like ok now we tailgate but we sit there now all alone in a parking lot and the nearest car is like 8 feet away sounds boring to me

Do you think that the 70,000+ fans that go to the game do not tailgate!?

Those are the main tailgaters and have been since the beginning, the tailgating scene will not change much.

Many teams have all sorts of limits on tailgating although I do not remember the specifics for each team.

To all the people who are pissed off about the new policy.

I am so sorry that you wont be able to drink, cook, tailgate or party for free. The Texans dont pay money to support thousands of free riders with Port-o-potties, parking staff, security, and other amenities that paying customers should get.

I shouldnt have to wait 30 minutes to use the bathroom because 1/2 the city wants to come and sit around in the parking lot.

It shouldnt take me over an hour to exit the parking lot.

It shouldnt take me 45 minutes to enter the stadium from the parking lot.

If you want to continue doing your thang in the parking lot, consider paying the $10 and move on.

:neener:

I too am fine paying money. Hell, they can charge me $10 or $15 for a tailgating pass, and I will have no problem. As others have said, the limited availability is the problem.

Also, this doesn't solve the problem of people wanting to meet at the game to get the ticket. Sure, in many cases, you can just mail the ticket, email it, or whatever. But what if someone cancels at the last minute, you call another friend, and they decide they want to come and meet you there? If a policy were implemented that charged all those without a ticket to pay for a tailgating pass, how is it fair for the friend to have to pay the $10 or $15 when he is about to get a ticket?

There are just far too many holes and problems with this setup.

Did you really neg rep me for posting my position on this topic? We normally get along, but damn dude.

What's worse is that the extra ticket that I have for you on occasion, I am not the PSL owner. Therefore I can't email it to you ahead of time. I have 4 tickets total. Two that I have the PSL's for and two that I do not.

This is some Buuuuuuuuuuuuuuull shite!

[in best fat guy from "Trading Places" voice]

"Yeah!"

Many teams made this change at the begining of the season, the Cardinals had some backlash but now there appears to be no issues, just a matter of people getting used to the rules.

The only people who this affects is non ticket holders touhgh titties

You are exctly right. If people want to tailgate simply pay the $10 and tailgate. Think about it, they are using the facilities and resources of the Houston Texans for free. I think they new policy will make the "game day" experience better for all season ticket holders.

They do not check all of the people, we have been checked like 3 times in the last 2 years. I see people park over the lines to "take a spot" since another vehicle will not fit in. I see others just flat out use 4 spots when they have passes for 2 extra spaces. I saw people crossing Fannin into the orange lot with wagons filled with tents, tables and generators (along with 3 rolling coolers). The same people I saw just take them a tailgating spot without even having a vehicle. They have got to due a better job of checking passes!

VERY WELL SAID! You are repped!

Go to Tenn where you have to tailgate behind some gas station or on some empty lot. Old Bud hasn't changed as far as I know.

Bob McNair rewarded ticket holders with the opportunity to "tailgate" and have a great pregame experience with friends and family, something we did not have in the past. Let's not mess it up by having the attitude we can do as we please, or we might find ourselves tailgating like our fine friends in Tenn! It's a simple rule, not that hard to follow. WHY is it the Texans's problem how you get your extra ticket to someone else? FIND A WAY!! Take responsibility for your own gameday experience, and don't blame the Texans for "inconveniencing" you.

I usually have two extra tickets for every game, and sometimes I don't know until Sat if they will be available for sale or give away. That's MY problem, not the Texans!! If I can't fix it, I eat the cost of the ticket. YES, we have lots of friends that show up at the tailgate looking for an extra ticket, and this will be hardest on them. I'll just start giving these folks a call on Sat night, and make arrangements to hand them a ticket through the fense on Sunday morning. It'll work out.

Exactly... and if that is at the cost of "losing" the #1 tailgating spot in the NFL, who cares.. Maybe Bob needs to do a "golden ticket" promotion like Willy Wonka did and have 5 lucky winners per game !!

Did you really neg rep me for posting my position on this topic? We normally get along, but damn dude.

I will positive rep you the next chance I get. It has been a rough couple of days, and I have negative repped more in the last few days than I have the entire time I have been on this board. I think it has just been "that time of the year" for me...

The more I think about it and the more videos I have seen, the more ok I am with this change. Some of the parties have gotten out of control and the lots have become more and more "ghetto" and in turn, perhaps more dangerous. The change bothered me personally because the people I know and tailgate with are all perfectly good, civil people that maybe drink too much but never get out of control. But the fact is more and more people are coming in that are not the types we want hanging around the stadium.

Hope you will just ignore the negative rep. :handshake:

Man... it's hard to believe people really took it so bad... I mean it's just eatin, drinking and bs'in !!

I for one am ALL FOR THIS and absolutely love it. Last week was way out of control and they've got to put limits on this. If you happen to be one of the people without a ticket, tough luck, and i don't want to sound like an asshole with entitlement, but if i pay for parking and have a ticket to the game, i better have a freakin spot. There was at least over 100,000 people in that parking lot last Sunday, and it was far out of control. We arrived in the blue lot at 10 AM, and we had to physically move cones just to get a place and it was in the furthest row possible from the stadium. I've always had a disdain for some tailgaters that take up 5-10 spots on their little setup when they could easily do the same thing at home or use less space.

It's mainly the people that play loud ass music and are dancing around like idiots instead of watching the game or having common courtesy to move out of the damn way when we are leaving.

But this also has to do with the overall poor job the staff does of directing traffic and funneling people into stupid places. It's gotten worse and worse it seems every year with little to no improvement. They probably should have even opened the really expensive spots up front for the public because there was just that many people in attendance last week.

Exactly - but hard to understand for some folks....

Hold up. I've been a PSL owner since day one. I also have other season tickets that I buy on a yearly basis. I'm pissed because I tend to give a ticket away every game and it's not always convenient to meet up with someone before Sunday to give them the ticket. I usually have them come meet me in Blue Crew for their ticket. Unfortunately, the ticket that I give away is not one of my PSL's, so I can't email it to that person...

So, let's not pigeon hole the situation and let's understand that there is more to it than that. I understand the spirit of the new rule, in keeping out unruly thugs, but it ain't that cut and dry!

TexanBill, I think SheTexan addressed this earlier up in the thread, and think it applies here -

I am with you SheTexan..you are on it. Have been looking at some other team websites and tailgating policies. All the ones I looked at indicated you can only have one space and tailgate directly behind your vehicle. None of them mentioned allowing purchase of two passes. Many also restricted to 8x10 spot only. A couple of teams had "family only" lots for non-alcohol. I would say that we have it pretty here in Houston. It is also my understanding that for example in Oakland they only have 3000 parking spots at stadium, must assume that you park in neighborhoods or whatever is available nearby. Also noted a few of the parking prices started at $25 and went up. Think we need to appreciate what we have and adjust to the new policy. I agree with Yankee that many people just come for the free party.

:wesmantexanfan: hehe.

How about the Texans just use some of the millions they make off of us, the fans, and use that to help pay for more/better security guards to get in there and break up some of this nonsense and send out the riff raff...

Find a way?? Really?? Great customer service. :ok:

It's their problem in that they want fannies in the seats... It's their problem that I am a paying customer and have to convince myself every year - WHY??. It's their problem that they knee-jerked because of one game over 8 + years.

Why is that or should it be "your problem"? Have you not had people meet you at your tailgate party to pick up the ticket? I would venture to say you probably have. The point is, is that's the norm not the exception..

Again, don't misunderstand. I get the spirit of the rule. I just think there are alternatives. Alternatives that shouldn't cost more money to those that do and want to do things the right way!

Anything to squeeze another buck out of us?? Well, color me pissed off as well as unimpressed.

I appreciate that. :handshake: And I agree that this is not fair for everyone. Especially the folks that come and respectfully have a good time rooting on the Texans. But if its between me (season ticket holder) having a good time, and tailgaters (non season ticket holders) having a good time, I will pick me everytime.

I want everyone to have fun. I really do. But the bottom line is that a little order is needed.

Maybe the Texans can up season ticket prices next year so we can get TB a personal ticket transfer liaison so he isn't so inconvenienced by this. If it means TB doesn't have to get off his ass and pass along the ticket then I am all for it.

Hell, lets get him a rickshaw while we are at it so he doesn't have to use his legs and walk to the stadium, cause you know "we want fannies in seats."

Guess I'll have one of my fav friends pissed off at me, BUT, honey sweetie, sugarpie, etc, what does customer service have to do with this!? I completely understand your problem, and agree that we ALL have friends that we give tickets to at the tailgate, BUT, this is not all about US, the Blue Crew, who has, as far as I know, always abided by the rules. We're only a speck in the far corner of the platinum as far as this problem goes. It's not just this past game that started the change in policy either. Problems have been esculating bigtime over the past couple years. We're pretty isolated to tell the truth, and don't always hear about the crap that goes on in other lots, PLUS, most of us are on the lot before 8am and stay until they run us off, so we don't really deal with the parking issues either. I just don't think we can stick our head in the concrete and believe this is all about US, it's not! Personally, I don't think there's enough security in Houston to properly manage all the tailgates PLUS the 70,000+ fans inside the stadium. A huge headache for the Texans IMHO, one they don't HAVE to deal with, it they wanted to be like BUD!!

I don't know if you were a member of the Blue Crew when we use to meet behind Bennagins and car pool in together, but, that might be one solution, to meet somewhere before the game. If whoever you are giving a ticket to does not want to do that, then WHY is that the Texans problem and lack of customer service? That's a decision made by the customer, not the business. We'll just hash this out Sunday, and I dare you to piss off an old grandma!!:) J/K my friend. I DO understand what you are talking about.

Rep. I'd also like to add, :neener:

Actually, the Texans could elimate a lot of this by assigning spots to all the lots. Or charge an extra fee to be assigned a spot for the first 20 rows.

Now that is a GREAT idea!
Assign spots based on where your tailgate sets up this weekend.
Makes sense to me.

Lol What if someone parks in your spot? "Ill go get the parking staff!!!"

Parking Staff: We cant find the owner of the vehicle. You will just have to park somewhere else.

Not to mention you would have people driving down your isle all damn day instead of for 30 minutes until the row fills up. NO THANKS!

Not in the Platinum lot. If someone parks in my space, I go get a parking attendant and have it TOWED. That's part of those extra $$ I pay for an assigned space.
