Why is that or should it be "your problem"? Have you not had people meet you at your tailgate party to pick up the ticket? I would venture to say you probably have. The point is, is that's the norm not the exception..

TB, actually we do a lot. I have them meet us at the CVS parking lot by a certain time, and if they aren't there, then they have to get their tickets (parking and game) handed through the fence. It is a little inconvenience for me, but I don't mind, and if they are late the first time, their ain't no second time!!

Also, I hear ya - I don't agree with the tailgate ticket approach either, and think it could have been handled differently. Something simple like must have a parking pass - after all, this is what this is all about. That and enforcing the rules already in place, and if someone causes problems, revoke the owner's privileges. And to handle the folks walking in, they must have a game ticket. Seems simple enough right?

Thats a nice feature to be able to have someone moved, I just cant imagine alot of people wanting to pay that kinda money for assigned parking. Plus not all lots are as close as the plat.

You don't have to charge as much as the platinum lot, but I imagine many of the tailgaters who take up too many spots get there early to do so. So if you relegate them to the back of the lot or force them to buy enough passes for the space they are taking, it would help. The Platinum lot is sold out and has a huge waiting list, so I'm betting there are a lot of people who would like to have the exact same spot every week.

Also, in the Platinum lot, your space is reserved till 30 minutes before kickoff. If you don't get there in time, you just have to find an open spot.

I think I say every week how much it is worth it. Especially when we get there at 7:05 (5 minutes after Platinum gates open) and know our space is safe.
It's worth the no-hassle of "trying to find a spot" and not having to haul the cooler, chairs, etc. more than 50 feet.

My original parking was in Yellow - The hike to the (then) Blue lot for tailgating sucked hard...not to mention the haul back.

It was definitely worth it for the Cowboys game. I watched a bus take 30 minutes to round the corner at Kirby & Westchase.

Oh - and the extra hour of tailgating is a bonus too.

$45 /game (Yes, it's highway robbery)

Worth every penny!!! Every Spring I grip about it, every gameday I thank the football gawds I paid up. I've had the same parking spot since preseason 2002. Though in the early years I had to fight biker babe for it on a couple of occassions!:)

It's nice not to have to wait in long lines, not worry about the yellow shirts telling me what to do, and just having the peace of mind knowing I don't have to worry about finding a parking space. I think blue is $35 anyway, so not that much diff IMHO for the convenience. PLUS, the atmosphere has improved tremendously over the past couple of years. Platinum is rocking more and more each year as more fans have started to tailgate. Yes,, it's a little pricey, but, well worth it. JMO!

How hard is it to upgrade to Platinum? We're in blue. Is there a long waiting list?

Forget the waiting list. Call your ticket rep once a month, letting them know how excited you would be for a Platinum pass. There are never any 'available' but if you are truly friendly to your ticket rep when some come available they'll call you.

I think there has to be a limit.
I think if you walk into the Tailgate area....and you do not have a ticket to the game.....you should pay a fee to come into the tailgate area.

I might be wrong about the Blue lot cost. I was told by one friend the cost is 35 and by another the is 25. regardless, I'm glad I stayed in Platinum.

I don't have tickets and don't tailgate which is why I chose "Don't have tickets or Tailgate" in the poll. It's also probably why I don't understand the fuss. Honestly, I don't think too many people envisioned this "problem" when the Texans brought tailgating to town. It would never occur to me to even go to Reliant Stadium on gameday without a ticket to the game. That thousands of people were doing it every home game never occurred to me either. I honestly thought all those people had tickets.

The parking lots are there so people going to the game can park their cars. The county and team allow the people parking there to have a party in the parking lot which is entirely cool. The last franchise was like "park, get in, watch the game, and don't let the door hit you in the ass on the way out" so this is IMO obviously a step up.

I just don't get it. If you're not a customer (meaning you aren't buying a ticket to watch the game) then really who invited you to have a party in the parking lot? It's "Reliant Park" but it isn't a county or city park you know.

Requiring a ticket just makes sense.

Herv, that made way too much sense. I don't think the problem is in the policy being instituted, it's the timing and the method. It's surprising to me also that so many people would go hang out in a hot parking lot and not be able to watch the game. I would rather go to the beach, or stay at home.

But I don't think that it is being handled in the right way. This should have been addressed in the offseason.

JB they cannot handle what they did not know, they are reporting that 80000 people without a ticket were in the parking lot after the cowpuke game. It looked like a war zone with people walking five wide down the feeder to 610. They did not expect the low life Texan fans selling out to the cowboys and then selling thier parking seperate. The fans complained and the Texans acted plain and simple. No reason to get mad at the hand that is trying to help.

Any one else go to the game @Dallas in 2006?

I did and I remember there being tons of Texans fans, that was before we started having .500+ seasons as well.

Especially when it came to tailgating... even at Dallas, the Texans fans had better tailgate set ups.

I feel the same way, Herv. While I know a few people who do tailgate and watch the game on tv in the parking lot, I have never felt compelled to take them up on their invites to come with them. If I'm going to watch the game on tv, I'd just as soon do it on my own with all the creature comforts that home provides.

Heck, we've even set up our tailgate gear in the front yard, complete with canopy and various Texans flags. It was just like tailgating, with the obvious improvement of working bathrooms and the like.

Tailgating has always been fun, but it was always a perk of going to the game. The main point was always going to the game, never the tailgating itself.

LOVE IT. I have been paying for season tickets since day one. Dont get me wrong, I am all about the tailgate, going all out, etc. But it has just gone too far. When is it enough people? I am sorry, getting in and out has become way too much of a hassle.... not to mention I have noticed an extra dose of riff raf have been flooding the lot areas more and more.

Yes! Ditto.
