Do you agree or disagree? Personally I would rather them limit it to parking passes only

Kimmy, I need to vote in two categories that you have listed. I hate the new rule, though I do see the reasons behind it. But, I don't have tickets or parking passes or PSL's. I get to go to the game sometimes thanks to the genorosity of TB. How do you let legitimate fans that are there to see the game in while keeping out the trouble makers? I have no idea. But I think there has to be a better solution than what they are implementing.

Maybe you should explain what this new limit is exactly. Methinks not everything knows what you are referring to.

I have been a PSL holder for 5 years. I was hanging out with some friends and got the email from the Texans on my phone. I looked down and damn-near let out a yell.

Fantastic idea. It took me an hour an a half to get into Reliant last weekend.

No one is allowed to tailgate without a ticket. Texans will now sell tailgating only tickets for $10 each, limit 4 per account, and only 2000 per game.

There are a lot of groups who have people without tickets who watch the game (and all the stuff) at the tailgate. Texans have one of the best tailgate atmospheres partially because non-ticket holders can still party.

This is complete bull ****.

This franchise continues to piss me off more and more every year. So if I want to go down to meet some friends that are season ticket holders and hang out with them at their tailgate, hope I can find some tickets but if not, watch the game on their tv, what is wrong with that?

I am getting to the point that I am ready to just say **** the Texans organization. I will root for the football players but like eriadoc, I kind of would like to get to the point that I do nothing to actually support the organization. They **** the fans every chance they get, raise ticket prices after losing and .500 seasons, and charge for every damn thing we do.

Hate it, hate it, hate it!

My tailgate has a cooking crew who does not go into the game. We've managed to buy an extra parking pass for them each year to get them and thier truck on the lot. That all screwed up now. **** the TEXANS.

They finally have some success after all these years and then they pull this bullshit! Texans, it was the great tailgating and party that kept many of us coming back each year when you sucked (2-14 my ass).

Instead of hindering fans from coming on the lot, why don't you try selling tickets to Texans fans instead of Cowgirls.

LOVE IT. I have been paying for season tickets since day one. Dont get me wrong, I am all about the tailgate, going all out, etc. But it has just gone too far. When is it enough people? I am sorry, getting in and out has become way too much of a hassle.... not to mention I have noticed an extra dose of riff raf have been flooding the lot areas more and more.

This is exactly what I was going to say. Many of these shady characters didn't even wanna get out of the way when were trying to get out of the Blue Lot. I honked and they gave the screw you look. And it seems, the bigger the game the more shady the crowd gets.

Question?

NowI do not tailgate, but then I also do not have tickets. My couch is very comfy.

But isn't the purpose of tailgating is that those going to the game and have tickets - to get together and enjoy the atmosphere before the game with other fans going to the game?

From what I read, they are having problems with people who do not have tickets. That stay in the parking lot and do not go into the game. If you don't have a ticket, why are they parking and taking up spots that those with tickets should be using?

If one does not have tickets to the game, why not have your own "tailgate" at home and invite friends over?

What's worse is that the extra ticket that I have for you on occasion, I am not the PSL owner. Therefore I can't email it to you ahead of time. I have 4 tickets total. Two that I have the PSL's for and two that I do not.

This is some Buuuuuuuuuuuuuuull shite!

So wait. I am ok as long as I have a ticket period right? I hope this isn't saying that I must have a "tailgate ticket" in addition to the game ticket.

Mike

Correct, a gameday ticket is like an all access... you are good, it is for those who do not have gameday tickets

I have to say I love it, It will make it alot less congested going in and out of stadium for paying customers! It will also keep tailgating alive for much longer, things were getting out of hand and all it would take would be one person getting shot and killed to end tailgating as a whole. This places responsibility on ticket owners.

I put that I hate it but it's really just that I don't like it.

I don't have season tickets so when I do go to a game I have a ticket from someone so I could get in anyway. My only thing was that I liked wandering the masses of tailgaters and meeting people, eating, drinking, etc.....

I feel like that will be cut down now. So, was it really that bad aside from the YouTube video?

You are liable to to have a bigger hassle getting in now if they are checking every person for a gameday ticket.

You are liable to to have a bigger hassle getting in now if they are checking every person for a gameday ticket.

Exactly!!!!

We were rated the #1 tailgating spot in the country for a reason. Now this will significantly be cut down all in an effort for McNair the Miserable to make an extra $20k per game. Ridiculous!

And this is coming from a guy that has only "tailgated without a ticket" once in his whole life and that happened to be last week. I wasn't about to pay the ridiculous amounts people were charging for tickets so some buddies and I chipped in and got a parking pass, brought our flat screen, and had a blast tailgating with our Texan brethren. This is BS.

So what would have happened to me on Sunday if this rule was being enforced? I came down from Austin with 2 friends. We had 2 tix and 1 yellow parking pass. Preston had my ticket in the Blue Lot. So would they have prevented me from coming in because I didn't have my ticket in hand yet?

Yeah, what about this? Imagine how backed up traffic is going to be waiting for these people to check everyone's ticket and then have the delays of dealing with and arguing with people that don't have all of their tickets on them.

To me this sounds like them not liking the fact that a segment of people are coming out, getting a partial game day experience and them not banking off of those people.

For a variety of reasons, I am no longer a PSL or season ticket holder. I have made it to a couple tailgates since I gave up my tickets, however, and I had a good time and felt connected to the team. This policy will just further my disconnect from the team, to be honest. At this point, I don't see myself doing much more than watching them on TV going forward, since I can't tailgate.

And people keep saying you can get a tailgate ticket, but sorry .... only 2000 available. Those will be gone in no time and probably scalped by the same types of ticket brokers that owned the seats next to me for years. So now you'll have Cowboy/Titan fans who bought a tailgate ticket from some broker, so they'll feel entitled to be there and act like a jackass.

Add this to the myriad of other minor things that they've done to annoy the fans, and I'm certainly not motivated to give them money, that's for sure.

Let me stir the pot just a little...
"We were rated the #1 tailgating spot in the country for a reason. Now this will significantly be cut down"
OK, that and a cup of coffee gets you what??? Right, a cup of coffee.. Other than saying we are the best, what exactly do you personally get out of it. I mean bragging about it, ok, that is it.. And. What does it matter, please tell me. What if Houston had say the 4th best in the league, ok, so what. Would that mean KC ( not sure who 4th is, just go with me), would move up a spot and then the 2nd would be top tailgating place.. OK, again, that and a cup of coffee gets them what.. NOTHING..

Ok, remember, I am not attacking you, just wanted to see your response to the # 1 tailgate spot...why that really matters..

It matters because more fans can feel connected to the team than just those who buy tickets. When a team is winning, everyone will root for them. When they have not been a winning franchise, things like tailgating help overcome that to some degree, because the team is still providing a good experience to its fans. Now, it'll just be to its customers.

Because at least we're no. 1 in something. not anymore, tho'

The Texans need to have a new lot (i.e. Astroworld grounds) just for fans that aren't going to the game. Price the parking passes to pay for the security and porta-potties. This would stop the congestion in the regular lots and keep the riff-raff to a segregated area. :winky:

No worries. As eriadoc stated, it helps get other Texans fans in Houston involved and feeling like they are participating with the team even if they can't afford a ticket to a particular game. It was simply meant to be apart of my rant to show how popular tailgating is in Houston and how much fun tailgating is at Reliant.

Stellar idea. I could definitely go for this. Charge $10 per car or something like that and let everyone go over there and party it up.

OK, but how does tailgating make the connection anymore to the team than a house party or going to a sportsbar and cheering with other fans? I do not think a real fan has to be at the game or tailgating to feel a connection. I get your point, but just because it is said that Houston has the best tailgating in the NFL doesn't mean anymore to me than reports saying we have the fattest city in the country...

And you are correct, it is a great experience, I take nothing from that ! But if that drops Houston to 3rd best tailgating in the NFL, that wouldn't matter, would it?? Since I tailgate and have ST, I cannot give my opinion from that side of the fence, but being told that you cannot do it anymore really upsets people who just go to tailgate..House party or meet a group at a sportsbar isn't the same? Cheering with same fans is a great time regardless of where you are I would think...

As far parking at Astroworld, my company ran a lot out there at the Rodeo. We have a good relationship with some of the Reliant grounds people. A new company took it over and tried charging $20 for parking last weekend. They refused to give Reliant their cut, so they locked the gates on the other side of the bridge from Astroworld. I hope the people enjoyed walking.

That means you are talking about yourself....

Hey now, I come from long line of riff-raff, from my g.g.grandfather who was on the bottom decks of the Titanic to myself, always at the back of the class (and I'm a marksman with a spit-ball, so watch out!).

I've been invited on several occasions to come to tailgates and watch the game on t.v. in the parking lot, but it just doesn't appeal to me. I'm not knocking it for others and to each his/her own, but it's just not my thing.

it sucks cause this was unorganized. they had to have known extra security was needed for one. also we have had mnf and no problems. i feel bad for those who enjoyed tailgating throught the game. i'm sure they will expand tailgate passes once the new law and order becomes routine.

At this point, I don't see myself doing much more than watching them on TV going forward, since I can't tailgate.

You CAN tailgate, WITH a ticket. Its pretty simple... go to game, have a tailgate. I thought that was pretty much the idea? Watching them on TV is exactly what they want you to do instead of clogging up the parking lots for the people who do have the tickets.

Quite the novel idea huh???!!

To all the people who are pissed off about the new policy.

I am so sorry that you wont be able to drink, cook, tailgate or party for free. The Texans dont pay money to support thousands of free riders with Port-o-potties, parking staff, security, and other amenities that paying customers should get.

I shouldnt have to wait 30 minutes to use the bathroom because 1/2 the city wants to come and sit around in the parking lot.

It shouldnt take me over an hour to exit the parking lot.

It shouldnt take me 45 minutes to enter the stadium from the parking lot.

If you want to continue doing your thang in the parking lot, consider paying the $10 and move on.

:neener:

J/K!

In any event, I'm pissed about the new policy but not for the same reason as others. I usually have an extra ticket and when I invite someone, I tell them to meet me in Blue Crew. They're responsible for their own parking, but come meet me and I'll give them the ticket. How will that work now? In JB's case, it's not practical to meet him ahead of time, because that silly sumbitch lives in the sticks. Do I take a chance and mail it to him? What if he's not sure he can make it until late Thursday evening?

Before someone replies with the old email the ticket it to him, I do NOT own the PSL on this particular ticket, so that's not an option.

I like it. Toward the end of the season last year, I began to feel a bit uncomfortable getting to my car after the games. For the first time since year one 1 I actually was a bit frightened a few times when surrounded by dancing, screaming, sometimes antagonistic drunken fans.

After the Dallas game, I even went so far as to lock the doors to my truck while sitting in the parking lot and had decided it was too dangerous for this old female person to attend the games in the company of other old female persons. I either needed a body guard or stop going to the games. I'm hoping this new rule will help.

This is a problem I now have to face too. Just love how the people who do it right are the ones that have to pay and are punished for the actions of few asshats.

I would have emailed it to you, no problem Hookem Horns.

BTW, generally speaking, I get the spirit of the policy, but as Speedy said "why should we be punished?"

Send the ticket overnight (express), yes of course I work at the post office.

What did people do when their car broke down on the side of the road before cell phones were invented????

You guys that have to get tickets to people will be fine. You will adapt and find a way to get'r done.

Man has not survived this long only to hit a snag because they can't get tickets to their friends on gameday.

It's not about adapting. It's about making EVERYONE pay for the actions of a few morons. A few Cowboy morons at that. And it's about thinking that a policy is going to stop people from being and doing stupid things. It's not, and all this does is make this more of a pain in the ass for all of us who do this right.

Yes, tailgating will survive, we will find a way, but that doesn't make it right.

Yes, tailgating will survive, we will find a way, but that doesn't make it right.

Out of the few videos that I have seen, I have yet to witness any cowboy fans involved in any of the altercations.

I'm not saying that they didn't do their share...just saying that Cowboy fans couldn't have possibly been the main culprits????

And I understand what you were saying...I was halfway joking with my post...

But from my understanding the change wasn't just made in response to the altercations...It was a combination of things....Rowdy fans + people being jerks + lengthy waits to get out + some other stuff....

Not saying it's right, but at this point it is what it is.

I too am fine paying money. Hell, they can charge me $10 or $15 for a tailgating pass, and I will have no problem. As others have said, the limited availability is the problem.

Also, this doesn't solve the problem of people wanting to meet at the game to get the ticket. Sure, in many cases, you can just mail the ticket, email it, or whatever. But what if someone cancels at the last minute, you call another friend, and they decide they want to come and meet you there? If a policy were implemented that charged all those without a ticket to pay for a tailgating pass, how is it fair for the friend to have to pay the $10 or $15 when he is about to get a ticket?

There are just far too many holes and problems with this setup.
