Super Bowl XLIV: New Orleans Saints vs. Indianapolis Colts

Who will win?

I still think the Colts will pull it out and I just voted accordingly. We'll all wake up tomorrow to learn that Peyton Manning got on the phone with the commish and had everyone come back to the stadium to play another quarter where the Colts pulled out the comeback.

I'm the second one lol! I didn't see this thread until after the game. Better late than never I guess!

If anyone says "WHO DAT" to me one more time I'll be going to jail!!!:aggressive::cutthroat: I'm starting to believe Saints fans are worst than Cowboy fans! Is that possible??!

Why? Because they're passionate about they're team? Congrats to them...they earned it.

I bet there are going to be a ton of new "Saint fans" in Houston tomorrow and if I have to hear about Katrina one more time Im going to punch someone.

Oh don't be fooled there is a lot of em here...they just now have reason to be...props to them, can't deny scoreboard.

Is it just me or was this Super Bowl kinda'...boring? Congrats to the Saints and all but this Super Bowl apled in comparision to the Super Bowls of the past few years.

This is really great for football. I was getting sick of the same ol Colts, Steelers, Patriots combo.

Plus Satan Manning throwing that pick six just warmed my heart with hope. He is human!

It was one of the most fun four hours I've had in my life. Great Super Bowl.

Really? I'm glad you enjoyed it, but it bored me to death. Although the 4th quarter was fairly exiciting up until the Saint's interception. At that point it was over with.

So, the huge majority here picked the Colts to win (and I'm one of them). So what does that tell us all our about ability to predict football futures? Including the Texans. LOL

Means Madden simulation was right again...LOL

WHO DAT!!!

(couldn't resist :) )

respectfully disagree... :)

Can't and WON'T congratulate them. Can't give them their due. As someone born in Louisiana I SHOULD be happy for them, but I'm not. Sorry. I have mad hateration for the Saints and won't tip my hat to em. I'd sooner call the Dallas Cowboys the greatest team in the history of football and then give ******** to everyone who has EVER played for the Dallas Cowboys.

woah...

does "********" mean what I think it means? If so.... dayum. I don't think I've ever seen such hyberbolic willingness in all my time. But to each his own.

I still haven't slept.

The morning is eerily quiet and this is the best cup of coffee I've ever had in my life.

What an amazing night...

I'm with Dread! Just can't be a phoney and send congrats to the Saints. The ONLY exception is Billy Miller, and he's not even active. I've always appreciated what Drew Brees had to bring to the game, just sorry he had to reach the pedistal via the Saints. Such is life of a football junky! Ya win some and lose some, and then there are days you wish you had never become an NFL fan to begin with. I equate yesterday as one of those days!! BUT, today is a brand new day, the start of the 2010 season as far as I'm concerned, and I'm ready to put 2009 behind me, bury it, cremate it, stomp it in the ground, then spit on it and wish I could erase all memories of it from my mind forever. Time to move on!!!

^^What's your reason for the hate towards the Saints?

I think it was the atmosphere of where I was at, too. It was on after the onside kick.

The difference here may be due to young college student watching at college party vs. old man watching with cat. :kitten:

Still trying to understand the disdain for them...its not like they're a rival or that they're fans are vain and obnoxious...the world doesn't revolve around one team and you gotta in some aspect respect a fan's loyalty to their team whoever it may be.

Exactly my thought, Saints fans are very hospitable people too, food is sure damn good, I don't see any hatred to their food when they make gumbo or some other cajun dish at their tailgates they write about...so to quote the phrase, "whats really going on?"

I've never said the world revolves around one team, I'm not that stupid!! People have reasons as to why they don't like, or support, a certain team. THere are only three teams in the NFL whose fans I do not respect. TITANS, COWBOYS, and SAINTS, in that order. I have my reasons, and I don't need to post them here. In your opinion Saints fans are not vain or obnoxious, in my opinion they are some of the worst. Were you not on this board when Elle was here?

That was during the Reggie Bush crap. Everyone should have moved on from that. I haven't seen one "Texans should feel sorry now" post at the Saints forum. Saints fans are much like us (well, not now because their new coach got them an SB win in four years). I haven't met an arrogant Saints fan. Have met arrogant Cowboy and Titans fans.

Wow.. Great game.. While Peyton is a great player and a future HOF, nobody is really mentioning Drew Brees as an all time great. This guy still has a lot of years yet. He could be mentioned with the Montana's, Elway's, Unitas' when the dust settles.

Eli Manning has a Superbowl win too baby...he's nowhere NEAR great. Let Brees win a few more games before you mention him in the same breath with the Late Great Johnny U. Not doing so cheapens his memory.

The Saints fans are already getting on the radio, and saying Reggie-1....Mario-0

Like Reggie carried the Saints to a win. Will they ever get over this crap? Mario is still a whole hell of a lot better than Bust will ever be. :cutthroat:

it's a shame that one poster on a Texans message board can so influence your opinion of the entire fanbase of another team

I don't begrudge anyone hating the Saints - or any other team - and his/her disdain and reasons for that sentiment are one's own.

But - and I'm obviously biased - the prevailing opinion is that the Saints fanbase is typically a pretty good one. I'm not talking about the bandwagoners - I'm talking about the dedicated who endured years of bag wearing and are generally regarded a pretty good fanbase, cordial and inviting. Most of us are painfully aware of our history and recognize how privileged we are and feel grateful for this and I know that I don't feel arrogant - we haven't done enough to be "arrogant" but we damn sure are happy and proud. And most visitors to NO for games have more often than not been thanked for their visit and contribution to the city.

I was here when Elle was posting and I recall that either she was banned or asked to be removed, but I honestly don't recall why. I remember tha she liked the Saints, Converse Judson, and poker, but that's about it for my recollection.

As a Louisiana native I TRIED to be a Saints fan as a kid. I figured I could be an Oiler fan AND a Saints fan as one was AFC and the other NFC. The Saints broke my heart too many times and on the occassions when they DID have winning squads didn't know how to win gracefully. If you win...win. "Who Dat?" to me is up there with "HOW 'BOUT THEM COWBOYS.?" Be like the Raiders and "Just Win Baby." Oddly enough I don't hate the Saints...but I'm not at a point where I'm ready to give them their due. If they dominate the NFC for the next couple of years and beat the dog$h:t out of the Cowboys every time they play them from now on...they'll have my undying respect, but as for now...I can't give it to em. sorry I just can't. Besides I just want to punch Sean Payton in the face.

Reggie wasn't even a factor and Mario's career will be a lot longer and more fruitful. Antoine Smith has three Superbowl rings and Mr. Warren Moon has none. Does that mean Antoine is a better football player? Hardly.

Agreed, good analogy. The Reggie nut huggers are almost as bad as the VY lovers. :strangle:

I'm not really fond of Benson, but I like Brees and Sean Payton. Therefore, I congratulate the Saints for finally getting there and taking home the Lombardi. Brees and Payton together make a very dangerous and intelligent duo, IMO.

Reggie probably won't even be a Saint next year, well, if the Saints are smart he won't be. Can't see them paying all that money to him for the two or three big games a year he has.

Oddly enough I don't hate the Saints...

and yet you say that you'd rather give ******** to every single Cowboys player that has every worn the star on their helmet - that's what I don't get

as for the rest of your post, you're entitled to the hatred - but to say that you'd do this to every Cowboys player - exaggeration or not - seems even sillier following your claim that it's because the Saints broke your heart and that they don't win gracefully (whatever the hell that means - I didn't see anything that was classless last night from the Saints). Those don't seem like reason enough to say you'd rather give ******* to hundreds of football players (obligatory NTTAWWT)

I mean, I buy what you're selling generally - and not trying to convince you to cheer for the Saints. I don't really care one way or the other. I just think it's a bit crazy to say what you'd do to every Cowboys player.

But then again, it's censored - so I'm guessing at what ******** means

I also don't understand how you can talk about grace and then cite Al Davis as an example of said grace.

I just think your posts and logic and rationale and explanations are all over the map.

What was censored was my friend Phil A.T.O. And...I don't say things I don't mean. I didn't cite Al Davis as an example of grace. But "just win baby" lets it be known you're in for a fight against someone who's going to do anything fair or UNFAIR (and more often than not unfair) to win. It says "Hi I'm an A-hole who will pray some dirty football." "Who dat?" is just a STUPID taunt. And as my first grade teacher told me in 1976 when I first got here FROM Louisiana: "Who IS that Mr [Dread-head]. IS is a verb of being and a sentence is incomplete without both a subject AND a verb. Verbs are our friends."

you're typically more articulate than this here and in the NSZ - I can't really follow what you mean here and the sporadic bolding doesn't really help, either

it seems that this really is personal - and teacher should be ashamed that he/she said that to a kid. I say that as a Saints fan, a Louisiana native, AND a teacher. I'm sorry that happened to you.

And I don't know what you mean translates to "Hi I'm an A-hole who will pray {sic} some dirty football" - "Just win baby" or "Who Dat" or something else. It's pretty incomprehensible, tbh.

And it certainly seemed like you were citing Al Davis is grace -

you first said:

The Saints on the occassions when they DID have winning squads didn't know how to win gracefully.

then followed that up by using this example:

If you win...Be like the Raiders and "Just Win Baby."

so I'm sorry if that's not what you meant but it seemed that way

Ultimately, it comes down to this - what I don't get

You'd rather fell-8 hundreds of football players than give the Saints any credit - at first I thought you were just being figurative. But I guess not because, after all,

What was censored was my friend Phil A.T.O. And...I don't say things I don't mean

things are getting more incomprehensible by the minute

like I said, hate the Saints - no matter to me. But this is just some bizarre stuff, imo - and getting weirder by the minute

Had it NOT been for my first grade teacher reminding me that I WAS in fact butchering the English language when I spoke and had no concept of subject verb agreement, I would have never put a fair amount of time in to reading more and working on my ellocution. Teachers who DON'T correct poor English are the ones for whom you should appologize.
*Bolding certain things is to place some degree on empasis on things which I would alter my verbal cadence. Sorry you didn't get that. Given your ability to take things out of context I'm glad you weren't an English teacher 20 some odd years ago grading *MY papers. BTW, I'm just being a jerk. Don't take it personally.

Nah. Drew Brees >> Eli easily. Just because they both have one Super Bowl win so far, doesn't mean their equal. Brees is easily a top 5...maybe top 3 QB in the NFL.

He's earning respect, but his career is still being written. I'll give him his due as a QB when all is said and done but it's too early.

His stats are better than Manning's since he has been with the Saints. Manning won two MVP's during that time. I think Brees should have at least won one, especially this year. And look at his stats with San Diego. All solid.

It sounds quite possible that your first grade teacher could have grown up in the Aretha Franklin era. If so, she probably cringed every time she heard Ain't No Way. I'm still trying to sing it with proper grammar, but it just doesn't sound right.

BTW, I'm just being a jerk. Don't take it personally.

no worries man...

I'm not taking much personally today -

if you want to star in your own version of "Dread-dy Does Dallas" that's your prerogative :)

I'd rather get back to football discussion anyway

And that's the bottom line, cause GB said so.... rep for you
