Super Bowl XL: Steelers vs Seahawks

Since when has any live concert sounded good on TV?

I am not talking about the quality of the music, Mick Jagger sounds like he is drunk, Keith Richard's guitar is out of tune, and their timing was off. They sound like they need to retire.

It sounds like 4 guys playing 4 different songs and a singer who can't speak English to me.

Mick cant speak english.
Keith has no idea which song is up.
The other two are pissed at me beacause i cant remember their names.

I was always a Beatles fan. Never really cared for the Stones when growing up and I am almost 50. Last year Paul McCartney was awesome. I would like to see Bruce Springsteen and the E. Street Band do the nextSuper Bowl.

How could you tell all that from just watching it on TV? The songs were butchered, but I don't think was their fault.

It doesn't matter really. As lousy as they sounded, they were still more interesting than the game itself. I'd go out and mow the lawn if it wasn't dark.

I didn't mean Mick was literally drunk, I was talking about the way he was slurring the words, and as far as the timing and the guitar, I have played guitar for 15 years, I can spot an out of tune guitar from a mile away. It was just a really sloppy performance.

My goodness!!! Not much SB talk!! No negative comments, no razing about the refs crap*y call!! Are you guys asleep already??!:)

zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz . . . huh?

Sorry, but um . . . this thing is boring.

all I know is some companies might want a refund on their commercials (did I hear right 2.5 million for 30 seconds?)

Seattle is really getting Hosed on some of the calls tonight

Yep, ya got that right! That first interference call against the Hawks told us how the game was going to end. JMO!! I felt from the beginning that regardless of how well the Hawks played, they would NOT win this game.

The Fed Ex commercial with the cave men and dinosaurs was the highlight of the Super Bowl for me.

I liked all the Bud Light comercialls, especially the one where the dude hid all the beers all over the office. I almost died laughing where that one guy started punching holes in the walls.

I also liked the pick up football game where the guy nailed the girl. "you said you were open, well now your closed":)

all in all though it was a down year for comercials

The streaking sheep wasn't bad either

I liked the fed ex one .. and the one where the small clydesdale was trying to push the budweiser wagon.. little did he know the two big ones where helping.

Instead of the SuperBowl thread, lets make this "your favorite SB commercial." My vote goes to the aforementioned revolving Fridge.

I think I heard that too. It's pretty rediculous considering how horrible the game was and a lot of fans probably stopped watching it. Disappointing game all together, horrible calls by the refs and could someone please tell my why with 2nd and 10 and how John Madden kept saying that they should go for a long ball and then kick a field goal if it didn't work out, why Seattle threw the ball about 2 yards in front of the line of scrimmage twice in a row and then with no timeouts ran to the line and threw the ball up to Jeremy Stevens for him to drop about his 5th pass of the game. I was looking forward to a close game, but this definately wasn't close.

Is it just me or do the Super Bowl commercials get worse and worse every year?

If I hear "as cool as the other side of the pillow" one more time I'm going to puke.

I can't stand Stuart Scott, he tries to make the sports highlights more about him than the highlights

Pretty boring superbowl with some terrible calls -- should have been a closer game IMO.

Glad to see the Bus and Cower get their rings though.

Fed X commercial was a classic.

At least you don't have to hear Neil Everett while Scott is talking and looking at opposite sides of the building.

no, the expectation for them gets higher and higher. It's insane that people actually watch the Super Bowl for the freaking commercials....they are commercials.

What ever happened to the "Bud Bowls" and budwieser needs to bring back the frogs and lizards.

When they cost millions of dollars per minute, they have to be amusing. Whats worse is that the commercials were much better than the game.

Seahawks did get hosed on some critical calls, but they had the game in their control had:

a) They kept feeding the ball to Darrell Jackson
b) Stopped forcing the ball to Jeremy Stevens
c) Josh Brown nailed the FGs

Count me as one of the people who questioned the Big Ben TD and the chop block call on Hasselback, but the Seahawks were +2 in the TO stat prior to the Taylor INT. I think that balances things out.

Halftime Show Note: It got me way more amped than Paul McBorefest. That made it OK in my books.

Commercials: Bring back Terry Tate!

Final Note: I first called for the game to be decided by the second quarter. I was off by 40 or 50 seconds, but close enough.

The halftime show looked more like the Dawn of the Dead. The NFL has to put the Janet Jackson flash behind them and truly entertain their fans.

That could've been the worst officiated Super Bowl I've ever witnessed. Yes, when it came down to it, Pittsburgh outplayed Seattle but I would go so far as to say the outcome of this game was determined by the blown calls.

If even just the obviously poor calls had been made correctly, final score should've been:

Seattle 17
Pitt 14

I am in disbelief.

Horrible refereeing. I really didn't care who won this (I'm a Texans fan), but the Seahawks really got jobbed.

They took away an early Seattle touchdown pass on a phantom offensive pass interference call.

They gave Roethlisberger a touchdown on a quarterback sneak, when it appeared he didn't get in (but it was close, at least).

They took away a fairly long pass to the Pittsburgh 1-yard line due to a phantom offensive holding call.

On the interception a couple plays later, they called Hasselback for a penalty for "taking out a blocker low"...despite the fact that Hasselback was clearly (successfully) tackling the ball-carrier.

Amazing how many huge bad calls went against one team.

The only controversial calls I would go with is the Roethlisberger TD and the Hasselback chop block.

I think if the officials had upheld the Hasselback fumble, you could claim screwjob.

Other than that, I would claim missed FGs and dropped passes the key to the Seahawk's demise.

Those two calls would have been controversial either way they were called. Both calls could have gone either way. Josh Brown makes his missed field goals and Seattle would have been going for the win at the end of the game.

Revolving fridge was by far the best I saw....the best part was when the guys were like "hurry the magic fridge is back"

Other than that the lowlight of the superbowl was the anthem....I cant believe how bad artists butcher that anthem...

The best commercial was the Sprint commerical with "theft deterrent"

And artists butcher the song every year, it's quite annoying and pitiful. I propose this law to Congress: People who sing the national anthem shall not be able to change any of the notes or lyrics of the song during a presentation.

Did Holmgren leave Cowher hanging at midfield for a handshake? I just saw Cowher standing there and I heard people saying "where is he?". I dunno if he did, but if so that's kind of lame IMO.

You're exactly right beerlover. And what you said at the end is the most
amazing thing about the calls. If the bad calls had gone against both teams,
it wouldn't be so suspicious. I was pulling for the Steelers at the start of
the game, but Seattle was getting ripped so bad my sentiments swung around
in that game.
So I think perhaps the Steelers and not the Seahawks were the team with a 12th man in the game, but he was on the field of play with his teammates !
And with the Steelers being the overwhelming sentimental favforite in this game, we'd have had a congressional investigation if these calls were against them, guaranteed.
Surely the fix couldn't be in the Super Bowl game could it ? Nah, I just don't want to go there. The NFL is too important to me.

JackDizzle, I had to edit this post because I went back and looked at the end of the game again. I do think that Holmgren left Cowher standing at midfield. The look that Cowher had on his face seemed to be that of disbelief that Holmgren would do this...

Very unprofessional.

Agreed. I could not believe how bad the officiating was. Was this a bad year for officiating in the playoffs or what???

refs were bad, but the Seahawks had their chances.......they had bad clock management at the end of both halfs, and Holgrem's decision to punt the ball on 4th down with 6 minutes left, was flat out dumb......didn't really care who won, but I'm glad Bettis and Cowhers finally won one.
