So far, we've played:

The Jets .....(4-4) loss
The Titans ..(1-6) win
Jaguars ....(3-4) loss
Raiders ...(2-6) win
Arizona .....(4-3) loss
Bengals ..(5-2) win
49ers ..(3-4) win
Bills ....(3-5) win

................(25-34)

in the future, we will play

The Colts..... (7-0)
The Titans ..(1-6)
The Colts ....(7-0)
The Jags ....(3-4)
Seattle ......(2-5)
St Louis ....... (1-5)
Miami ........(3-4)
New England.. (5-2)

....................(29-26)

3 games against teams with winning records. If we win just one of those. & the other 5 games, we'll be 11-5

we may sneak into the play-offs as AFC South Champs.

AFC South champs would require a huge collapse by the Colts. They'd have to finish 3-6 for us to top them at 11-5. Not that I wouldn't love that though.

Which really comes down to:

Colts 14 - 0
Everybody else 15 - 26

Not quite. The Texans would have to go 7-1, sweeping the Colts, and only
losing once more (Patriots.) That would put them at 12-4. The Colts only
have 9 games left, so if they lose twice to us, that puts them at 7-2 with
7 games to go. We'd need them to finish 5-2 over their last seven to
win the division. If we both finish 12-4, we'd hold the tiebreaker if we swept
them. Tough row to hoe for the Texans to win the division, but it wouldn't
have to be a total collapse for the Colts.

:goodpost:That's what I'm talking about Dexman.. it's way too early to be playing for a Wild Card. The Division is still out there.

Let's Get R'dun

If we beat them, they go on to play New England & Baltimore. That's a possible 3 game slide right there.

Then they play us again, & a Titans squad that found "it" again. 2 more possible losses.

Then there's Denver.... who we don't have to play.

Jacksonville...... I bet they play a better game than last time.

Then they play the Jets..... who should be playing really good ball by then.

So it's not out of the question. Their last 8 are tougher than our last eight.

If the Texans want to make the playoffs, they MUST set their
goal on the division. This division has ALWAYS required its champion
to win 12 games MININUM. If they can cut the mustard in the AFC South,
the playoffs will be a breeze in comparison.

Texans sweep the Colts and win the rest of their division games, we should be at the top. Regardless if we lose are other games. Remember the Chargers last year made at 8-8 and New England did not make it at 11-5. Its all about your division.

We can sweep our division, and the Colts still win the division with a better record of 14-2

Let's just see how the Texans fair against the Colts on Sunday and then respond to the pressure of a locally hyped MNF game vs VY and the Titans. These next 2 games are going to say a lot about playoff hopes etc.

If the Texans are competitive vs the Colts even in a losing effort, and then take care of VY and the Titans on MNF I will still feel pretty good about things. They MUST split these next 2 games however.

Even if the Colts win the division, would we still make it to the playoffs with a divison record of 5-1 comparing with teams in other AFC divisions?

After the division champs are identified, it goes by best record overall.

so you take out the division champs... for the sake of argument
Patriots, Colts, Broncos, Bengals

Then the next two teams with the best record get into the play-offs regardless of what division they come from.

Baltimore 12-4
Pittsburgh 11-5
Texans 10-6

The Texans miss the play-offs, even if we are 5-1 in the division.

Man that sucks. Thanks for the knowledge.

We need to root for the Steelers to win the north because if we finish with the same record as the Bengals we have the tie breaker over them.

Steelers to win the north, Cincy to hold off Baltimore for 2nd place in north and give us that tiebreaker.... OR

We win the AFC SOUTH OUTRIGHT!!! We dont need no stinkin wild card :texflag:

Seems like a borderline for wild card spot would be around 11Ws. We need at least win 6 out of 8 games. We did fine 2nd half of season last year. I am hoping we will do the same this year!

I want the Texans to win against the Colts soooo bad. Pleeeeeeeeeaaaase Win!

Go Texans!!!

Seeing this makes me really like our chances. LOL

i might of miss counted but since 2002, 10 wins has got teams to the playoffs 15 times. only 3 times have teams missed the playoffs with 10 wins. also there have been a number of 9 wins and even some 8 win teams making the playoff's. some as wild card some as division winners.

if we win 10 games we should make the playoff's.

you got cincy, pitt and baltimore each with 11 wins or more. i dont think thats ever happened, not 3 teams from the same division.

The Titans ..(1-6)

The Jags ....(3-4)
Divison games i hope we win the all and secure a playoff spot early

these two games are IMO take care of biz nass games
Miami ........(3-4)
New England.. (5-2)
AFC east games playing mami i think will be easier then we think they go aganist the Jags and the titans before us i think that will deff tire U out big time

who knows if NE will play it lite for our last game depending on where they stand who knows if we play it lite depending on where we stand either way i think its deff best to play NE at home rather then up there

if we do make the PS has a WC i wonder who we will play the other WC team right

Those two losses to Ari and Jax are really looking big right now with the Colts sitting at 7-0. We were so close to being 7-1 it isn't even funny. With that being said I think our team, although still making mistakes is leaps and bounds better than what we were against Jax earlier. I think we give Indy a run for the division before it is all said and done.:shades:

I like that scenario. I know there's a few ways we could win the South. The reason I had the Colts collapsing was because I was replying to the OP who said we could be division champs at 11-5.

Didn't that happen in this division a couple of years ago? Titans were 10-6, Jags were 11-5 Colts were 12-4?

They all made the playoffs, not all with 11 wins.

2007 season.

Colts 13-3
Jags 11-5
Titans 10-6

And they went for a combined 1-3 in the playoffs with the Jags getting the only win.

it was just to illustrate a point.

But yes, 2007 regular season,

Indy finished 13-3, Jacksonville 11-5, & Tennessee was 10-6 very possible they all could have finished with 11 wins & make the play-offs.

I remember being very confused one year when the Cowboys swept their division, but missed the play-offs because of a poor overall record

You need to move the first bracket before {Color sandybrown} behind that statement, and in front of the "B"

"We" shouldn't be worried about "if" NE plays their starters, or take the week off. We're playing really good ball now, and by week 17 we should be playing outstanding ball.

We need to stop thinking like losers. NE should be hoping we take week 17 off.
