Stephen Nicholas WLB South Florida

Here is a name I came across when I was trying to get to know some prospects.

Only place I have seen much on him was from a link somewhere on this forum.

It said he had good speed, could rush the passer and cover well and could be a WLB or SLB with a few more pounds.

Anyone know anything more about him and whether he would still be around on the 2nd day??

I like the guy. He is one of those speedy guys who'll transate to special teams, pass rushing specialist while he learns the ropes. How many years does Greenwood have left on his contract ? Pick the true Mike and move Meco, it becomes acedemic picking Stephen Nichols. I believe kastofnsa is the expert on him. I like him better as a prospect because of the speed than I do the California guy a lot of people put up at the end of their mocks. Just me, always pick the fast guys first. Figure evrthing else out in camp. They got pills and coaching for everthing except speed. See Petie Faggins.

I'll see your Petie Faggins and raise you a Philip Buchanon. I'll take a player over an athlete anyday.

I am partial to speed myself, better to make mistakes quickly.

Buchanon played pretty well in Tampa Bay from what I hear. Maybe he didn't fit our system well.

Faggins is a playmaker I will give you that but is too slow to be a starter.

As for picking a true MLB and shifting Ryans, I leave it in the hands of the coaches.

I do think however it would be great to grab a young LB to develop for one of our spots because Clark, Greenwood, Wong etc are all getting old.

I value speed as well, I just place a higher value on a player's intangibles and what they've shown on the field in college. I think watching the Pats during their dominant years shifted my views a lot in that respect. They had some great athletes in guys like Richard Seymour, but the heart of that team was in guys like Teddy Bruschi, Tom Brady, Troy Brown, Mike Vrabel, etc. etc. - Guys who couldn't wow you at a combine but constantly wowed you with their ability on the field.

nicholas is a very fine player. not too different than ryans in the sense that his instincts and smarts outweigh any of his physical attritbutes. that being said, he's still a good athlete and i'm not too sure why he's not higher on draft boards.

I like Nichols too...

We need to replace greenwood, he doesn't make enough plays to be a WLB.
