RD.1 Vontae Davis CB ILL Fastest CB in draft has the size to play FS
RD.2 Everette Brown DE FLA. ST. Fast pass rushing DE has room to develop
RD.3 Tyrone McKenzie LB S. FLA. Big fast WILL LB playmaker
RD.4 Clay Matthews LB USC Doesn't get the noteriety of the other USC lb's but makes just as many plays. Play SAM lb

RD.5 Kirston Pittman DE LSU Makes more plays than the mor highly rated DE on his team Jackson. Has good burst off the edge.
RD6 Marlon Favorite DT LSU Sleeper good quickness for a big man I like SEC D-linemen. Played in the shadow of Dorsey & Francios but is a player in his own right
RD7 Phillip Hunt DE U of H pass rush specialist works hard

Don't see the texans going CB with the first pick with dunta returning, and bennett and molden just recently drafted. Other then that I think they will go heavy at DE and OLB.

Clay Matthews is a good name for a LB.

No one knows how effective Dunta will be when he returns. If Vontae Davis is available and is the BPA we should take him. He most likely will be gone anyway. Is looking like a very high pick right now.

Also if Mathews keeps playing like he is right now, he wont last until the 4th round.

Both of these guys are on my watch list.

Davis would make a great ballhawking FS if Dunta comes back healthy.

I hope I'm wrong but I see a 6-10 record in the future if Dick Smith remains as the DC for the entire year.

This will put KUBES on the hot seat in 2010.

It' unfortunate that Dick Smith will have put KUBES in that position.

Like I said I hope I'm wrong.

You might want to consider Victor "Macho" Harris the CB from VT. Malcom Jenkins is also a name to keep in the head from TOSU.

I have never heard of Harris, but Jenkins probably would have been a first round pick if he had come out last year. He might possibly be the best corner in the draft... I think he will be gone by the time the Texans pick though.

Harris had 36 tackles (1 TFL), 11 passes defended, & 5 INTs (1 TD) last year.

I think he was rated around the 2nd round last year, but decided not to enter the draft.

Love seeing some mock drafts- Obviously we probably won't go ALL defense, but I commend the effort and the idea!

I'd be more inclined to go with a top Pass rusher in the 1st round like a Michael Johnson or George Sylvie, then in the second grab a solide CB/S guy or a top S that falls. Should be guys like Mays, Rolle, Moore, Pegues so I'm thinking a good FS/SS type will be there since we all know Richard Smith loves to have 2 SS's on the field :)

The only problem with drafting defense this year might be scouting players who best fit the new defensive coordinators scheme.....

I'm not so concerned with players that fit a scheme so much as just getting good football players rather than some of the dead weight this team carry's now.

We need to beat the colts in the worst way on Sunday. If we lose I could see us ending up with a pick in the 10 range.

This would allow us to pick Selvie, Davis, Moore, or Mays.

Does anyone think Harris will last till the 2nd rd.

I was also very impressed with Pegues. He was very impressive against LSU & Auburn.

Harris might be the pick if he lasts to the 2nd rd. We have a history picking Va. Tech. players.(Frye, D. Brown, Adibi).

I would be OK picking Selvie in the 1st & Harris in the 2nd.

I think Pegues is great, but he is really thin to be playing safety in the NFL.

He is listed at 196, but he looks skinnier than that.

He has the speed to play CB in the NFL. That is the position he played as a Freshman & Sophomore.

He's been credited with a 4.4 forty before & a 350+ bench press.

Sometimes a player who is a good football player in one scheme, is a goose in another.

PBuc was awful for us, but is playing real well for the Bucs

You think these guys will fit into our scheme ? :spit:

If you are talkin about the scheme to let the other team score every time they have the ball ..... No , they dont fit Dick Smith's scheme.....

Dick Smith is who we thought he was .... Go ahead , Crown his ass .... He is who we thought he was .... and we aint gonna let him off the hook.

5th pick... 6th round. Dick Smithzanode. yes! lock it up.

uh, Dick Smithsvanilla.

Di..Di..Dick Smithsyomomma.

You mean Richard Smith from the Texans.

Put him on the board, Smithzilli!! Got it. Championship!

balance is important, no question the offense is ahead but still need to address RB depth. would like to earmark 2nd or 3rd rd. pick on one if bpa.

speaking of defense there are some really good Safetys in this class, with CC Brown down & group (Texans) in general sub-par a case should be made to take elite talent here in the 1st (I don't see you having one listed anywhere?).

1.Taylor Mays*, SS/FS, USC
Height: 6-4. Weight: 225.
Projected 40 Time: 4.45.
Projected Round (2009): Top 15 Pick.
5/19/09: Taylor Mays' size and speed combination is sick, and what could ultimately allow him to be the first safety taken in April 2009.

2007: A 6-4, 225-pound safety who runs a 4.3? Pretty sick. As a freshman, Taylor Mays started 12 games, recorded 62 tackles and picked off three passes.

2.Myron Rolle*, SS, Florida State
Height: 6-2. Weight: 218.
Projected 40 Time: 4.46.
Projected Round (2009): Top 20 Pick.
5/19/09: Myron Rolle's triangle numbers pale in comparison to Taylor Mays', but a 4.4 from a 6-2, 218-pound safety ain't too shabby. Rolle has 23 consecutive starts entering the 2008 campaign.

2007: A player with no weaknesses in his game, Myron Rolle started the final 10 games of his freshman year, finishing third on the team with 77 tackles.

3.William Moore, FS/SS, Missouri
Height: 6-1. Weight: 220.
Projected 40 Time: 4.45.
Projected Round (2009): Top 20 Pick.
5/19/09: Looks to be a good fit at either safety position at the next level. William Moore had an incredible 2007 campaign, notching seven picks and qualifying as a second-team All-American.

2007: An interception machine and the leader of Missouri's defense. Voted as a Second-Team All-American.

I like Davis better than Moore (Faster can play CB or FS) Moore would be my 2nd choice.

If we get a DE in FA (Suggs). I would Trade down & take Cushing.

In the 2nd I would take Victor Harris

With the extra pick (from the trade down) I would take the best C (Mack or Luings) or rb (Davis or Murray).

1. Will LB
2. DE Orakpo
3. Interior competition: Ligus , Max Unger,Oregon ,Caldwell, Wood, Ulatoski
4. RB: Darrell Mack Utah, Luke Lippencott, Nevada, Micah Andrews Wake
5. DB/Cb prospect: Brandon King Purdue
6. Chase Daniels
7. Special teams guy: Clay Matthews, 6-3, 240, Southern California (DE),Ben Maljovec, 6-3, 223, Syracuse (LB/ST)

they can't run the ball and they can't stop anyone from throwing the ball at will. Top rated DB might help. My money says they try to get more athletic in the back seven and help the pass rush/playmaking too. That screams outside linebacker. They love their safeties. go figure.

I'd take either Taylor Mays or Malauga in the first but I would love to land Orakpo in the 2nd

Matthews would be the steal of the draft at 7

@ 6' 4" 240, and with a good first step, you could bet money some 34 team will pull him off the board long before the Texans will ...and stand him up. They've got bigger fish to fry than to experiment with another Babins prospect. No offense ment to the Mathews family. I'd love to have him. But at 240 he can't play DE every down...and we got a good Sam LB. What are you going to do with him in the 43 ?

If we could land Mattews in the 5th rd. I would go for it.

Matthews is a playmaker & you can never have enough of those.

Kubes & the new DC will find a way to use him.

I really would like to see Smithiak draft a WOLB & a DE in the first 2 rounds.

What C or G do you think will be available in rds. 3-4?
