Rd1 Dan Williams Tenn. DT- I hope Williams is there at 20, Big physical DT that gets push. He would help MW, AO and Barwin improve as well. 2nd choice E.Thomas

Rd2 Ryan Mathews Fresno St RB- JBZ sold me on this guy as a perfect fit in the ZBS. 2nd choice B.Ghee

Rd3 Kyle Calloway Iowa Ot/Og Calloway can play anywhere on the OL, he played in a ZBS at Iowa. 2nd choice J.Asamoah

Rd4 Marshall Newhouse TCU Ot/Og- Newhouse was a 3 yr starter at LT for TCU, Newhouse ran a 5.06 40 and was a state power lifting champ in HS. He wont get pushed around and should be able to help in the run game. 2nd choice Myron Lewis

Rd5 A.J. Wallace Penn St CB- Wallace got in Paterno doghouse but worked his way out of it and became a player in the 2nd half of last year. will run a high 4.3 or low 4.4 at combine.

Rd5 Crezdon Butler Clemson CB was no.1 CB had bad stats because teams stopped throwing at him last year. Runs 4.4 40, By drafting two CB's this gives depth at CB. One of them should work out. If Wilson gets hurt again Quin can slide into the FS position. 2nd choice R.Preist

Rd6 LaMarcus Coker Hamptom- Would have been a 1st rd pick if he hadn't gotten kicked out of Tenn (drugs) 4 yrs ago. Has kept his nose clean since transfering. Will be the fastest RB in draft (not counting Holiday) can KR/PR. Texans wont draft him but they should. 2nd choice L. Miller the Fresno St. combo reunites.

RD7 Martin Tevaseu UNLV DT Big hardwoking DT that has alot of upside, very talented. Texans take care of interior OL/DL in this draft. Z man will probably retire and never seeing Okam again will be a blessing. @nd choice Clifton Geaters, He comes from a football family and has potential.

Smithiak should sign L.White and C.Wiegmann to provide quality veteran talent at a reasonable price.

This fills most of the holes. I know people are going to say waiting until the 5th rd to address DBs is crazy but Butler and Wallace have just as much ability as Cox or Ghee in the 2nd rd.

The Texans get lucky because of the depth at the DB's in this draft.

Let the critques begin.
 
IMO, I don't think Mathews will be there for us in the 2nd round. Now that D-Rob's gone, I think CB becomes more of a priority than the 5th round.
 
I like the Butler pick but I hate the Wallace pick. That kid is a *****. He has never hit anybody and I don't think he ever will. Athletic? Yes. Football player? No.

I love the Mathews pick but I don't think he is gonna be there. I've been saying all along that I think this kid will eventually wind up in the first round. I'm glad that some of y'all are starting to come around on him.

I don't like the Williams pick either. I think he will be a good player but I don't think he is what we need. I don't think we need a run stuffer. We need somebody that can pentrate the pocket and pressure the QB. I think that is what our scheme demands from all four d linemen, not just the ends.

Overall you did a good job. If it fell this way I wouldn't be completely satisfied, but I wouldn't complain too much. You have really good picks at 2, 3, 4, and 5B.

Butler and Wallace have as much skill level as Cox and Franks who are 2nd rd picks. IMHO

Williams can shoot the gaps. He also requires double teams. He is very physical. Which is something this team has been lacking forever. Williams is comparableto Casey Hampton. IMHO Monte Kiffin spoke highly of his work ethic last season.

When it comes to late rd picks I try to peg guys that have the athletic ability of guys that are picked much higher. But didn't reach there potential because of injuries or didn't get along with their coach. Past drug problems but have stayed clean for 2-3 yrs. Only about 30% of guys picked after rd 4 make the NFL. That's why I dont think there's much to lose taking chances on guys like this in rds 5/7.

Hence the Butler and Wallace picks. I agree with you about Butler and Wallace. That's why I chose both of them. They both have no.1 CB ability and the gamble is a good that one of them will hit. If both of them hit you've struck gold on the cheap.

You should check out highlights of Coker who also fits the criteria of my draft theory stated above. He's the real deal. Fastest RB in the draft. IMHO

Faster and more physical than Spiller.

Not a big DT in the first fan . But they do have a history of doing this. And I still say if they do it, It'll be Kollar's pick. And it is more likely, IMHO, that Ordick will be that pick, not Price or Williams.

If you know something we don't please do tell. They have never done this. The common theme on just about every player Smith and Kubes has selected is they are smart....they are of high character. Getting busted for drugs in a college environment tells you two things right off the bat. They are not smart. And they are not of high character.

I can see them desperate enough to throw the high character thing away and take Legarrette. If they do that, we'll know the prognosis on Slaton is not as rosy as they are letting on. Or, they missed their targeted o-lineman the first four rounds. In other words they would have to be pretty desperate and be facing a certain disaster.

Overall liked the mock. Hit all the sore spots except CB early. But I'm with you on that one. I see no one with in range of twenty who is going to beat out what they already have on the roster in 2010. Not going to happen. If the scouts find one in the latter rounds who we can groom up and we can trim some of the roster fat...they will have earned their oats.

Last.....doubling up on the o-linemen is never a bad thing. We're three concussions or one bad play away from having to redo the QB slot. Get the QB, protect the QB, Defend the QB, everything else is just noise. Matt has to have a running game.

We've got the same philosophy gettingthe QB/protecting annd defending the QB. The Texans have tried to out defend Manning for years. (Aint gonna happen) They need to fix the problems on offense. They are close to having an elite unit on this team. For the 1st time might I add.

Coker hasn't had a problem with drugs in 4 yrs. I would give him a chance. McNair wont.

Interesting mock. If we draft a DT #20 he'd better come up big. I don't see he need here as much as FS if Thomas is there. Matthews is the type Kubes likes and I can see him here. Ghee is solid #2 back up the CB I like better Wilson and Cox should be gone. So far so good. Round 3 I like Asamoah better despite his "short arms". Same was said about Rt Eric Winston and he seems pretty solid. I don't see you addressing center. I am ok with two Olinemen back to back but wish one of your guys could give Myers competition. I also agree that Butler will play better than many think and you probably have him in the correct round.

The more I hear/read about Newhouse the more I think he would be a great fit for the Texans at OG. But, if he does at the Combine what some people think he will do, I don't think he lasts to the 4th round. If he's there in the 3rd for the Texans, I'd take him.

I like your 1st two picks and would be happy if it went this way and we got Newhouse in the 3rd. Not sure about the rest, but if they have any kind of a bad past, like Coker, I don't think the Texans touch him. I think the Blount kid from Oregon would be a great RB for us, but I don't think the Texans touch him either. JMHO!

Look at the arm lengths.

It's amazing that Pouncy gets the kind of push he gets at that weight. Means he's quick. Bet the poundster posts the best in the three cone drills.
