Steel B's Mock 4.0 Final

1-25 Grey Zabel OG/C South Dakota St. Smart tough farm bred OG. Great movement skills for a big man, plays physical brand of football. Cody Mauch is my comparison 2nd choice Donovan Jackson

2.-58 Tate Ratledge OG Georgia, Big, tough strong as a bull, tested great. Only reason he falls this far is because of an ankle injury. Kyle Williams WR

3-79 Jaylen Royals WR Utah St., Strong, fast can play outside or the slot. Tackle breaking machine. Good hands will go between the hashes and has deep speed also. Decent blocker. 2nd choice, after talking With Lucky he sold me on Eric Ayomanor.

3-89 Terrance Ferguson TE Oregon - Great hands, speed to get down the seams, good route runner and is an improving willing blocker in the run game. He's Loveland light. Guy would immediately be the best TE on the roster and has produced in big game for yrs.

4. Trade using a 2026 3rd. Ty Robinson DT Nebraska, guys an underrated stud. Strong as a bull plays with real quickness and violence. has some pass rush ability. Rotational play as a rookie but my prediction is he will be a Brian Mebane type starter by yr 2. I actually see some Watt in his game. (Not saying he's JJ)

5- 166 Trevor Etienne RB Georgia. Do it all RB, runs hard and can catch the ball out of the backfield. Runs a variety of routes. He's got some long speed too.

7-236 Jabbar Muhammed CB Oregon. Physical playmaker, ran in the 4.5's can play ball though. Has short memory. Reminds me of a poor mans Lassiter. I think he can be a very good slot corner or zone CB if he has to play outside. Smart player.

7-241 Jacob Dobbs LB James Madison , a fast instinctive coverage LB. Developmental guy, but has talent. is generally in the right places where he's supposed to be. Solid but not physical tackler. Really good athlete that's smart. Best football is ahead of him, should start out as a core ST's guy. Kinda reminds me of a poor mans Cashman.

Two Ducks, you have my vote. Seriously love the Zabel selection, gives Texans day one starter. Maybe instead of trading pick to move into 4th could find a Center needy team & move Scruggs?

Hopefully Ratledge is still there in second? RG of the future. Should help Fisher and next to Zabel Texans can run the ball right side and do better job protecting CJ in the pocket or rolling out.

Not sure Royals lasts, not a very deep WR class and he is near bottom quartile of upper quartile (to quote Jim Irsay).

Ferguson also be a good addition. Very good receiver and adequate blocker. Positive Caley could coach him up to solid in all areas.

There is going to be a run on RB every round. I would anticipate a round earlier than PFF projects so probably a 4th for pass catching whiz Etienne.

Muhammad is a solid, all around CB to develop as much needed back-up post Flowers. Good ball skills and willing tackler.

I would be very happy if the Texans did this well.

Thanks, to get Ratledge I might even trade up a bit.

In the 3rd I'm betting that one of my grouping will be there.

Royals/Ayomanor/Horton/Felton. I would draft Bond if I thought he wasn't guilty as charged in the late 3rd. He got hurt, had a bad yr but the talent is there. There are somethings he needs to work on but he's a perfect fit for the offense. Think a bigger Atwell. With this said, if he's not cleared by draft day I would pass. Using the Whoops defense LMAO.

I’m seeing Ratledge going earlier and earlier. Funny as draft gets closer, better players rise and he is a starting, plug & play RG. Jackson is close, but too close to call. As for WR’s, teams are reaching for need giving thin draft class, top ones all gone in 2nd, heck see more and more drafts with Higgins round one.

On board with first two picks. Thoughts on Zabel at center? I wouldn’t put him there as day one starter but i’d cross train him as a higher upside option than Patterson.

Ratledge will be a solid player in the league, I think he’s a top 50 guy. Good value if he gets to 58.

Royals I don’t expect to get out of the 2nd. Really held back by his offense. Like Luther Burden but with the injury this season added on. Ayomanor would be solid pick here. Would need time to develop but WR2 talent is apparent. Would bond with Metchie over Canadian things.

Ferguson is a solid TE prospect. I am beginning to move TE to day 3 if addressed at all. Don’t want to use one of my 3rds on the position with this class. How much different a prospect is Ferguson vs Stover for example? I think Stover would be TE 4 in this class slotted between Taylor and Arroyo. I’m counting on Stover making a year two leap moreso than striking gold on a rookie.

Like the day 3 prospects/positions. I’d be on board with moving a 3rd next year for a 4th provided a DT or RB I really like is available if draft fell like this.

Solid post. Ferguson is more natural playmaker, especially red zone. Stover maybe better inline blocker.

let’s give it a letter grade…A- or B+

A couple of your guys might be a little over drafted, but all in all, this is a solid draft and would help out CJ!

I guess I'm just hesitant about drafting a prospect with two serious injuries, already in college. Maybe take a chance in the 3rd round, but not the 2nd.

Top two picks are DEI draftees. WHat's up with that Steel ?

2 of the best OL in this draft.

Certainly not DEI hires, they were my picks based strictly on merit. The Texans OL would look so much better with these 2 picks if they truly want to run the ball better.

I would trade a 2026 pick to move up. I'm that high on Ratledge. He reminds me of a young Zack Martin. (High praise) You should checkout Brandon Thorn's twitter if you want to know what Ratledge is all about.

I dunno Steel, but drafting all of those white boys I was wondering if you'd gone woke and should report you to Musk ?

Ferguson would be a massive upgrade in the passing game. He's faster and more importantly he runs better routes, gets in and out of his breaks better. He's a much smoother, less robotic player than Stover. Plus he's a healthier player.

In the beginning Stover is probably the better blocker. But it's not like Stover was a great blocker either. I would look forward to seeing what Caley can do with guys like Ferguson/Stover. I'm betting we see much improvement from the TE room next yr. Although I wouldn't expect Schultz to change his stripes when it comes to blocking.

He hasn't missed that many games. Ankle surgery isn't as bad as it used to be.

I guess one more no-trade mock wouldn’t hurt:

Newbies:
LT/RT- Trapilo answers a need, and he could play either side. Nasty demeanor.

ILB- Woodard is a nice 6-2 at 234 pounds who hits with authority and has the ability to drop into coverage. Good info on this guy.

For me, Ratledge, Robinson, and Etienne or all mildly overdrafted, but it’s within range. Nothing crazy…I would drop each a round. I may be wrong though. Let’s see where they go in the real draft.

Since Caley, I think our tight end department will be better overall and why do not think we will draft one until day 3 at the earliest.

Makes since, but imagine what he could do with a high end talent TE like Warren/Loveland/Taylor.
