Rd1 Connor Barwin DE-LB Cinncinati -Can play SAM on 1st & 2nd downs and play DE on 3rd down. Played TE in college so he should be able to cover the TE. Ran a 4.47 40 260lbs at his pro day

Rd2 Lawrence Sidbury DE Richmond- Sidbury has as much potential to improve as any DE in this draft. Ran a 4.64 40 at his pro day 265lbs

Rd3 Kevin Barnes CB Maryland- Friedgen said he is a better CB than fellow Maryland alum Foxworth. Has had injury problems (ACL) or he wouldn't be available. Appears to be over his injury problems. 6'0 187lbs ran a 4.40 at his pro day.

Rd4 Roy Miller DT Texas- Tough run stopping DT, he is everything Okam isn't.
Hard working leader. 6'1 310lbs Ran a 4.95 40 at his pro day
Rd4 Kory Sheets RB Purdue- Smith gets another alum, this years Slaton, very productive RB. 5'11 208lbs ran a 4.39 40 at his pro day

Rd5 Sebastian Vollmer OT-OG Houston Big talented OL fits the ZBS can learn from Gibbs for a couple of years. Extremely atheletic, Solves size problems on OL, unlimited potential.

Rd6 Otis Wiley Mich.St SS 6'1 212 Ultraproductive SS has great hands can return punts Wiley ran a 4.56 at his pro day. He is a vicious hitter.

Rd7 Blake Schlueter C TCU Perfect for the ZBS, Smart and atheletic, 6'3 290lbs and ran a 4.7 40 at his pro day.

UDFA Tyler Roehl RB N.Dakota St., Brian Toal LB Boston College, Dustin Colquitt P Tennesee, Stephen Hodge LB-S TCU

The reason I like Barwin over Matthews is because I believe we can trade down and get Barwin. Barwin like Matthews has only played one year on defense, is bigger faster and more versatile than Matthews.

In this Mock I chose the most atheletic prospect that has been a productive player in college. These guys have some of the best 10-20 & 40 yard times.

They help provide atheletisism and depth to a roster is in dire need of both.

Let the critisim-feedback begin.

1. Barwin, I like this pick. Barwin is very athletic and fast and should be great against the run though he may be a liability in pass coverage, but he's got 5 months to learn the basics and if we draft a good SS then Barwin wouldn't have to worry much about pass coverage. There'd be a learning curve but I think he'd be great at SLB.

2. Sidbury, I don't like this pick, he'd be a backup/rotational player and the 2nd round is way to early for that, we need starters in the 2nd round, a SS like Patrick Chung or William Moore would be perfect here.

3. Barnes, I honestly don't know anything about him other than he was injured last year.

4. Miller, good pick, he's been moving up draft boards lately.

4. Sheets, ehhhh, we could do alot better with James Davis, Glen Coffee, or Antone Smith.

5. Vollmer, good pick he'll add some much needed depth at OT.

6. Wiley, ehhhh, but not bad considering it's the 6th round.

7. Schlueter, I don't know anything about him.

Overall not to bad, change that 2nd round pick and it could be very good.

The reason I went for Sidbury over a S was that I want to make sure Mario has help rushing the passer. I consider Wiley or Cleamons to be much better values in the 5th or 6th rds. Compared to taking taking Moore or Hamlin in the 2-3rd rds.

Sorry I put this thread in the wrong place.

I think that's just too high for Barwin and Sidbury. I really like both guys and frankly wouldn't be distraught. But, both guys are raw and we'd be heading to the second day without addressing any of our essential needs: C/G, RB, S.

Now, if we were able to trade down and pick an extra 2 and 3.. then, grabbing these guys wouldn't bother me at all!

I do see RB as anessential need but I consider getting pressure on the QB to be more important than drafting a S or C in the first 2 rds.

It' s just a matter of prefrence but after seeing Manning pick our defense apart year after year that's the way I would go.

We need to add speed to the defense in whatever rd we take aguy IMO.

I could see a RB taken in the 2nd rd.

I cant wait for the draft to finally get here.

I could live with Barwin (not at 15, trade down of course) as long as the next pick isn't another reach to fill pass rushing. Sidbury at 2, yuck. Definitely better picks available, at S and probably DE, RB, C. Barnes, kind of meh but okay. Miller at 4 is a waste of a pick, wouldn't pick him anywhere before the 6th round. We've got plenty of guys waiting to get their shot at DT anyway. Vollmer and Schlueter would be good depth but Schlueter is C-Myers v.2 Wiley sound like what we already have at safety. 5th and 6th round guys...i.e. backups. I'm afraid I don't like your mock very much!

If we take a shot at two developmental players over two that have the ability to start day one add that onto hoping a guy is healthy in the third. I'm going to through my TV out the window.

If we're still bent on going DE in the first I'd much rather take Michael Johnson.

I get what you're saying about our depth at DT, but is there something you don't like about Miller?

The guy will probably be going late 4th/early 5th. If we want him, we can't wait to the 6th.

Your reasoning for Sidbury is confusing. How can Sidbury help Mario put pressure on the QB from the bench, he won't be on the field at the same time as Antonio Smith the 35 million dollar FA we just signed, or are you suggesting that we start Sidbury and let the expensive FA sit on the bench? That's not going to happen. Wiley or Clemons in the 5th or 6th would just give us more of what we already have a S, backups that are forced to start because we don't have anyone good. Patrick Chung or William Moore in the 2nd round and Chip Vaughn or Michael Hamlin in the 2nd or 3rd round would be an upgrade over what we currently have.

Smith would drop down to DT on 3rd down. Our front 4 will look like this

MW AO AS Sidbury

LB

Barwin DR Adibi

That my friend is a very fast front 7 that is versatile enough to rush the passer on 3rd down or drop into coverage. With speed like that in the front 7 our secondary will look much better than it ever has looked. IMO
