Wouldn't count on that RB we got, but everyone else.Everyone.
start of the year? zero. How many 08' starters do you think we have drafted from this draft?
If your talking next year, as in immediate; none. If you are talking about in year two, three so far.
I said 08' starters.
Hence why I said the immediate part, I think Brown and Molden could be starting by the end of the season.
the new undersized linebacker...he's awfully small (he's a tweener like Michael Boulware).
Adibi: 6-2", 236 LBS
Demeco: 6-1" 239 LBS
I wouldn't make too much of his size....
It's not the size of the dog in the fight....
I love the defense that we are building. Small, quick guys who play bigger than they are. DeMeco, D-Rob and Adibi are examples of this.
a smallish lb crew combined with smallish interior tackles may = inability to stop the run. I'm not so worried about one smallish guy in a group but when the entire group is undersized thats when I have a bit more of a concern.Adibi: 6-2", 236 LBS

Molden, Brown.

This has been my fear. We talked about it in another thread.
If you've got smallish Mike, then you need bigger space eater DT's to protect them. If you've got "penetrator" DT's, then you need a bigger Mike. We've got penetrator DT's and a smallish Mike and that scares me for runs up the middle.
I'm hoping we pick up a power pig type of DT.

Probably not going to happen since we run a 4/3.
Seems like it...the old Jimmy Johnson Cowboy defense was built with smallish fast players who could run too...small and quick can make up for some bulk at times but the red zone and stopping teams in 3rd and short may be a really big problem. Size and strength goes a long way when fighting for short space. You think Richard Smith is trying to build a defense like the Colts that relies on the offense getting a lead early so it can make big plays and turnovers?

well sure since football is a strategy game but second and 1 on the 40 and you have to bring in different players or just give them the short run?....and when you bring in your lesser players teams pull up and throw over you.I would expect that our personnel in short yardage situations would be different than our regular 1st and 10 set.

4/3 or 3/4 doesn't matter. Lots of 4/3 types of defenses have a combination of a space eater NT and a penetrating DT.
yeah you're right, but you mostly see those guys in 3-4 b/c they're size & bulk clogs crap up, Haynesworth, J. Williams, V. Wilfork.
How many 08' starters do you think we have drafted from this draft?
Isn't Haynesworth in a 4/3?
He is, but he could probably play the nose in a 3/4 and it wouldn't be a horrible thing.

Could Okam push Travis Johnson for a starting position?
With Okam you have a space eating, double-wide NT, and with Okoye you have a penetrator who gets an inordinately large number of sacks for a DT.
Okam takes the NT position. TJ moves over and backs up Amobi.
...and our D-line becomes that much better, assuming Okam gets some motivation. Add another DE to that (which is what I am hoping we get with the 6th rounder), and we could have a pretty solid line.
I'm on the brink of the ledge.Alex Brink is the only starter i see.
