So what endzone celebrations can you or can you not do?

NFL spokesman Michael Signora didn’t split any hairs on Tuesday when announcing that the official erred in throwing the flag.

“Husain Abdullah should not have been penalized for unsportsmanlike conduct following his fourth quarter touchdown,” Signora wrote in an email to PFT. “Rule 12, Section 3, Article 1 (d) states ‘players are prohibited from engaging in any celebrations or demonstrations while on the ground.’ However, the officiating mechanic in this situation is not to flag a player who goes to the ground as part of religious expression, and as a result, there should have been no penalty on the play.”

Gotta agree with Jerry Glanville. NFL now stands for "No fun league." Taunting penalties? I thought football was a man's game. If you're not HITTING someone or running along the opposing sideline yelling obscenities at the other team's coaching staff then just go back to a "You'll pay for that on the next play" attitude. I'm getting so SICK of the pussification of this game.

That would be more "free speech" than "religious expression". Being an atheist implies you deny the existence of a diety. Denial of the existence of a diety by definition is the OPPOSITE of a "religion."

What if I'm a Scientologist and pull out my E-meter in the end zone, or cure people of their homosexualities? :kitten:

i'm hearing that the long slide on his knees is what got the flag, not the prayer its self.

Yeah, ref threw the flag during the slide but before the prostration. He probably thought it was some elaborate celebration, and that's probably what drew the flag and the NFL is (rightfully) just trying to avoid a shitstorm.

And that's one of the problems with the referees right now. Far too often they are throwing flags prematurely before they can even say what it is they are penalizing.

And instead of just picking it up and saying, "My bad, I thought he was about to do some elaborate celebration", they go on and give it a penalty anyway.

the slide is part of the banned 'going to the ground' area of celebrations, it's supposed to get a flag. i dont think it should be, i enjoy or at least dont care about most of the celebrations, but that's the rule. what happens afterward doesn't matter - it's only a topic because of what this player did after the slide. had he stopped and gone into the prayer position it wouldnt be a flag or an issue.

So what if I'm an atheist who feels pissing on a Bible is a religious expression...?

TECHICALLY a religion so you'd be cool...so we'd send you Tom Cruz hoping you'd score...waka waka....:dread:

No props. See Cell phone, sharpie, pop corn, and yellow jacket.

I'm going to the middle ground, here -- I'll pull Tom Cruise out of my pocket (he fits in there) and pee on him. :texflag:

I thought Cruise was still refusing to come out of the closet? Oh wait he is a fudge packer at a fudge packing plant. Never mind.
