So what does everyone think about our chances with the Jags this week???

Just curious what everyone thinks this week...I'm pretty nervous about this one...Watching the jags play lately they look like their on fire...They almost took the steelers also...And the way we've been playing it seems we've stepped backwards instead of forwards...Don't get me wrong i will stand by my Texans, but they still didn't seem like they played 100% yesterday despite winning...The Bears knew they played bad also, but the Jags aren't the Bears...Their a good team....I just hope we can pull this off a second time... :whew
 
The offensive line will need to do a much better job protecting David Carr. They should be made aware that not only playing time but employment with the Texans is on the line if they are unable to protect Carr. The Bears were able to apply pressure up the middle, which makes any QB ineffective. If the Bears could bring the pressure up the middle, guess what Jacksonville is going to do against the Texans. Stroud and Henderson are licking their chops when watching game film on McKinney, Pitts and Washington.
 
I would have to favor the Jaguars by a small margin because of home field advantage. And they are playing well. But not by much. I think the Texans can score some points against them IF they protect Carr.

What do you mean by that?

Are you saying that it looked like they weren't giving 100% effort?

I think he means that we didn't give a good offensive performance despite the final score.

Penalties, line break down, dropped passes, etc.

It's funny that so many Texan fans undersell their teams chances and hype the opposition. The Jags put their jock on one leg at a time. They beat the Bears at home by 19 a week ago, the Texans beat the Bears on the road by 19 yesterday. That was a big win for the Jags yesterday, but the Pack has been Jekyll and Hyde at home all season. That was their 4th loss at Lambeau this year.

The Texans beat up the Jags so badly in week 8, they left town crying about dirty play. The Jags crying about dirty play. :rolleyes: I don't think Gaffney drops the ball before crossing the goal line this time. I don't think AJ fumbles in FG range, either. The defense is playing better than they have all season. So is Domanick. I'm not nervous at all, I'm looking forward to an AFC South war. And the Texans are one team that won't back down to the Jags' bully tatics.
 
I think Jonathan Wells should be the man for this game. We need his big self to plow his way through guys for every inch possible.....that's just me though.. idonno:

I actually like the combo method...Rotating between the 2 so it gives them a break to rest and come back full strength each time one plays rather then being exhausted ...

True, i still liked that 1st game against the Titans we played when Wells plowed through the Titans defense running the ball...He made a great performance that day...

Well, if that's the case, I agree. I don't give them much chance of beating the Jags, despite beating them earlier this season. The OL has deteriorated since then, and Carr's loss of confidence in them shows in many ways.
 
The Jaguars are fighting like hell for the last playoff spot. They will no doubt be pumped up for this game. Texans should be relaxed with nothing to lose, this could work to our advantage.

The offensive line better protect Carr because I'm sure Del Rio is instructing his players to injure him and end his career.

Wells was 3.3 ypc on the day. Clearly that was much better than the 2nd game where DD was 17 carries for 129--let's even take out the 41 yard run--that would be 88 yards on 16 carries for 5.5 ypc.

Like I said in a DD post. Wells is a GREAT third down back.

But being my OSU boy, I think he'd be better off going else where and starting. I'd hate to see him go, but.....

As far as the game, our key points:
1. Protect Carr
2. No stupid penalties
3. Throw the ball (see #1)
 
The Texans played one of their better games of the year against the Jags earlier this year. Aside from last year's game when we started Ragone and Hollings, the Texans have been able to game plan pretty effectively against them. It will be difficult to come out of there with a win but it's certainly possible if the defense continues to play the way they have the last 7 quarters and the offensive line plays their best game.
 
I agree O-line steps up and Defence stays strong, we win. I'd like to see d-Rob with two INT's this week.

I say Carr lights into the O Lines rear before the game even starts and hope the productivity is just as good after he did it in the Chicago game. LOL I thought that was too funny to pass up.
 
Carr must keep his composure despite his offensive lines failures (there will be some) know they are trying & giving it all they have. Those big Jag tackles (Henderson & Stroud) scare me eek: & maybe Darius is suspended :whew
 
Our Oline against the bears was... bleh.. bad. I dunno if that is because of the bears Dline.. or because of the cold..or what.

But really our oline hasnt been that terrible. I mean.. yah.. they have been getting their butts handed to them.. but its been in the two games against the colts mostly. and its been Dwight Freeney mostly.. and if you watched the colts/ravens game.. you saw Freeney beating the snot out of Ogden.. best LT in the league.

We actually havent done too terrible against slower, more powerful Dlines like the Jags have. SO.. i dont think they will be that big a problem.

Also, Dunta is better now than he was earlier this year in the first Jags game.. and so is Babin.. and we will probably be seeing Peek out there a bit more so we may have a better pass rush. ALSO.. Davis is healthy this time.

I like our chances.. we have always been a team that goes for Moral victories :).. and sweeping the jags, and taking them out of the playoffs, ESPECIALLY after the way they acted last game and in the past.. that would be a big moral victory.

I think we are gonna go in there fired up.. it should be a real good game. I think it will be closer than the last game, simply cause the jags have a lot to play for and they are at home.. but I think we have a good chance of winning.
 
Of course we can beat them. We beat them before when they were pulling wins out of their -$$, and yes they are playing tough but we can do it. Look at how we played the Colts last time, was it a 51-14 blowout? No. I see it like this... We beat the Jags before, we beat the Titans, the Titans hung in there against the Colts for a minute. Then we did pretty good against the Colts, so averaging all of those games of teams we beat and teams we didn't get destroyed by I would say we can take this one! We have to watch out for Fred Taylor and that it, the rest should work out fine. Like I mentioned in other posts, we seem to get at least one pickoff or fumble a game so if we can capitalize on those efforts for 3-7 it's a wrap!

In the meantime, let's hope both teams get out of the game without significant injuries.
 
The Texans were able to get pressure on Hutchinson in the Chicago game but the Jacksonville team is much better than the Bears and getting consistent pressure on Leftwich will be a major key if the Texans hope to pull out a win.
 
Now hear this the Jags will be going all out with a Blitz Creed. Heads are going to roll. This will be a very Physical game between these two AFC South rivals. I love the sound of an O-line is distress, it just warms the cockles of my heart... :heh:

I hope you're right. The book on defending the Texans is to let the front 4 get pressure and play a deep zone. The Jags blitzing and leaving the Texan WRs in man coverage would be a belated, but much appreciated, Xmas present.
 
I don't think it will be much of a Christmas present when Carr will have to be pealling his rear end from off the turf at Alltel.

You do realize that Carr has never lost at Alltel, right? In fact, Carr as a starter is 3-1 against the Jags. But, I bet you knew that.

Leftwich looked like he got beat up pretty good, if Dunta and rest of D...hit him a lot expect to see him make some mistakes which favors us. JMHO :banana:
 
Darius will play next week, regardless if he is suspended or not. He will appeal it, and will not have to serve it until the appeal is heard. He probably will just get a fine.

Our LT and RT are new to the lineup, so we'll have at least two different starters from last year. Our starting RG is injured so we'll have his backup in. LG and C played last year. Much to your disappointment I'm sure, we will not be starting our third string QB like last year.

Our boys can do this. They did it before and will do it again. :dancing:

Plus they are coming off a win and will be fired up over the Darius debacle also. Plus Leftwich is spending more "down" time on the turf than David is. :heh:

To Santa: I have been very good this year. All I ask for is a good CLEAN game and a WIN for the TEXANS on 12/26. Oh yea, and a new broom to sweep the kitty poop outta here!!!!

I beleive if our offensive line steps up we will take this game. I also agree with the rotation of wells and dd. This would give them each time to freshen up before reentering the playing field. I beleive Robinson is going to have a big day againt leftwich. I suspect at least 1 interception. Also, Sharper is very fired up for this one as I saw on the night show. We swept the titans and now if we sweep the jags we will make a better foundation name for ourselves. It would be nice to take this game and say we will conquer it but reality is it will be close. I still see a texans win though.

Leftwitch has taken some shots lately, especially last week. I don't know how the guy does it, but he takes a pounding and still keeps going. I suspect this will be a defensive battle with a low scoring game. I just don't see how we pull this one off when they have a lot to play for and are at home. Carr needs this game in a real bad way to put some more hope going into next year. We need to finish strong.
 
dont forget...you guys won 20-6 in week 8 or 9 I (can't remember) what week that was...anyway...go TeXaNs...we really need you to win to make the playoffs...

WTF does this stuff come from? I have been a Jag's fan for the entire life of the team and the Jaguars have never been a team to get a lot of personel fouls. They dont generaly injury players in any serious fashion and they dont take cheap shots.

They do play physical which sometimes results in a few hits that were not needed, but that is the cost of playing aggresive football. They are simply not a finesse team that can play without the aggresive attitude.

I assure you tho, neither the Jaguars coach or the fans want to see any serious injuries. Del Rio was a player once and still has the appreciation for what those injuries are.
