So, what’s there to look forward to now?

Sundays at the beach and the NHL for my sports fix. When it comes to the NFL, I'm with Double Barrel on his I'm freakin' tired comment.

What's going to be higher when Savage gets obliterated and IR'd, # of TDs or # of games started post Watson?

I'm betting he reverts back to "the system" we saw last year.

Doesn't have much of a choice. Savage, McGloin or Yates cannot run the offense we have seen the last few games.

My guess to your question.. # Games started, guy hasn't proven to be a TD machine.

We should give thanks that we played the Brownies early.

The fat lady is singing.

:coffee:

I'm so hoping that Tilman Fertitta brings the NHL to Houston. I'm all in if he does.

I’ve always wanted to see an NHL team in Houston. I’ve lived in markets with and without teams. Living in an NHL market makes a huge difference even if you’re not a fan of the local team. People are more dialed into it, etc. I’m enjoying being in an NHL market again, especially with one of the best teams.

A Dallas/Houston rivalry in the NHL would be awesome.

Im not going to dive off into the 2018 draft and FA right now. Im thinking the OP means the rest of the season.

Im looking forward to us finishing this season off strong. Bill O'Brien knows what Savage can and can not do. His offense will change dramatically. Im hoping to see more hurry up offenses, a lot more quick hitters and screen plays. We all know Savage is pretty accurate and doesn't turn the ball over. We can not trust the defense so we will have to continue to put up 30+ a game.

As far as the defense, I am truly at a loss. I don't know how we can improve with the bunch we have now. The secondary play is too atrocious. These guys really need to get their skit together.

What are the qualifications for "real fans" status? Is there a written exam? A to-do list to be completed? Merit badges? Minimum number of hats purchased?

I have two hats, 3 t-shirts and an HD antenna to watch them with. Dejection, paranoia, and outrage I mitigate with drugs, alcohol and fajita tacos.

I swear I read that as "I have two hats, 3 t-shirts, and an HD enema to watch them" and I was like "WHAT THE Fuuu...?"

But then I immediately thought "Whatever gets you through a Texans game I guess. Who am I to judge? We all have our crosses to bear right?"

Oh yeah and also we have nothing to look forward to until free agency begins.

The Texans have dick to work with in this draft so I expect that when it's all said and done we'll be looking at an abomination of a draft so if we're going to make any kind of forward progress then it's going to have to come in free agency where we've rarely done well.

I think we might be sitting here screaming about the Texans not being very active there. They'll think that when we get back our injured players we'll be fine and stand pat or make "economical" moves that the consider value.

What to look forward to now well the rest of the season. Someone, probably an old cowboy, once said, 'You can't change horses in midstream." I always wonder what it was like to get across the wild river on horses but somehow someway you make it across to the other side.

I'm an old cord cutter i have 3 antennas roku and net its been like that for years. The best thing ever I'm happy and over $100 month more in p
Enemas in HD are for proctologists and Kevin Spacey.
wow well I had at one time to see a proctologist Dr Fingerfarkle. He used like 2 fingers and I said whoa whats going on here. He replied, "Second opinion." One swing lights out and left the damn place.

You cling to that horse with all you have and pucker butt cheeks to get good grip. It all in the horse and prayers for those that do.

I don't think we should go to sleep on this Season just yet. Savage is likely a fairly decent QB backup and we might manage to pull off a Division win. The Jags are looking fairly good right now, but come on, they are the Jags and could emp!ode at any moment. The Titanic's for some reason seem to be struggle!ing to get going in a smooth manner. The colts are a dumpster fire without Luck and we are heading into a more favorable part of our season, so all is not lost, just less likely. So Buck up Bucky !!!!

Is Savage with this team better than 2016 team with those QBs? Perhaps someone will take time to compare rosters. Watt didn't play last season and didn't impact much this year prior to injury. Clowney I'm not sure about but he has time to equal if not surpass 2016. Fuller and Hop now only Hop last year. Can Savage get it to them? Is this Oline better next seven games? If Kevin Johnson comes around defense could be better than last year. Can Cunningham replace Cushing, I think so. If we can have an all around good game versus Colts that will help team confidence. L. Miller needs to be part of the passing game. I would like to see Blue and Foreman pound defenses. I am not giving up yet.

Sometimes (not always) a team loses someone like Watson and pulls together. Everyone steps up their game. It's unlikely to happen and it won't turn zeros into heroes but against Indianapolis it just might be enough to get us to .500

In the opener Savage had no time at all to setup and throw. Now we've all seen what Watson could do with his mobility and we can't expect anything like that out of Savage but maybe, just maybe this offensive line after playing together for 7 weeks can give him a little bit of time to do something other than go into the fetal position.

Savage's preferred mode of operation is that of a traditional pocket passer but he has moved in the past and if O'Brien will at least try to call plays that allow him to get out of the pocket (He did it last year) we might see some success.

Mostly though it will be back to 13-17 points a game with a defense that can't keep anyone under 30 so I expect it to get pretty damned ugly.

If Mike Vrabel Romeo Crennel take after their mentor you can hope for some defensive improvement with the young players thrust into starting roles. Consider how bad the Patriots defense was for their first 4 games, and how much better they looked in the next 4. Perhaps the front 7 replacements will start getting more pressure, or the issues on the backend will be resolved.

Yeah as really hope Watson can get well. And really hope that there will be a QB at the center to really get the team into the playoffs. Hate that for the young man.

I don't mind being optimistic. Who are the significant losses or gains for 2017 over 2016? Neither Watt nor Watson here; Cunningham seems to be catching up to NFL and should replace Cush's play if not his vet experience so that is almost a wash. Mercilus is huge loss but Scarlett Brennan and Houston should mitigate some of that. Clowney while getting significantly more snaps is slightly behind at mid-season in tackles while significantly ahead in sacks per game avg. Kevin Johnson back and most should agree he will be better than last Sunday, he should improve this D. immensely. Reader is playing very well & has helped to slow the run.
WR Fuller tremendous & while I doubt Savage will find him as 4 did, he should continue a plus over no play 2016. He also should continue to take attention off Hop. WR Ellington over Strong should continue. Miller playing 76.2 % snaps {3.6 yd} to 55.5% (2016) 4.0 has 426 yards (7 games) to 1073 (2016). What equals it up for me is his receptions 18/194 @ 10.8 & 2 TDs compared to 2016: 16 games 31/188 @ 6.1 and 1 TD. This again is tremendous if it leads to O'Brien continue to involve Miller in passing game with Savage at steering wheel he should.

Yes Oline is still bad but had been playing much better. Does that continue for Savage? Glass somewhat less than half full. Who are keys remaining 2017?

Offense: RB Foreman needs to be on field. Not only can he make others better (Oline, QB and receivers) and add to ball control and points, he should help Miller.

WRs Hopkins and Miller.
Kicker Fairbairn will have more opportunities (unfortunately) but needs to continue his accuracy.

LT: maybe most important key will be..Chris Clark with Savage (no turnovers and quicker ball release) close second.

Defense: Clowney and Kevin Johnson

I kind of feel free now like a weight has been lifted. I don’t feel obligated to watch anymore for the rest of this season. Of course I’ll catch some action here and there but if I miss most or all of a game I won’t feel like I’m missing anything.

This is how I felt year three of David Carr. I checked in on the team from time to time, but I was mostly checked out.

But at that time I didn't consider myself a Texans fan. That didn't happen until they hired Kubiak. Not that I was a big Kubiak fan, but I did think he'd make Domanick Davis a star.

Anyway... I know what you mean.

I look forward to OBrien getting fired, Rick getting reassigned and McNair selling the team.

I'm going to be hoping for the impossible. For Savage to look better than decent behind our OL. & for O'Brien to get his head out of his butt & feature D'Onta Foreman.

Maybe we can save the season.

Bolded is the key

As the entire sports world already knows, Deshaun Watson went down and is now out for the season due to an ACL, and along with him pretty much our chances to even clinch the division. (More than likely)

Now, we know losing Watt, Mercilus, and Cole at the other side of the ball didn’t help our chances, but losing Watson (who IS our offense) probably put the last nail on the coffin.

Is there absolutely anything to look forward to now? We don’t even have the draft as a consolation prize, so I just can’t find the silver lining after these disastrous couple of months...
We can always look forward to the next life, but that's about it right now.

If Domanick Davis had healthy knees he'd have been a beast in Kubiak's offense.

I guess the development of Zach Cunningham and Bernadrick McKinney, and Jadeveon Clowney making a cool play every now and then?

See if Kevin Johnson can return to prominence?

What if?? What if savage turns out to be a good QB? It is possible.

I can't imagine Tom Savage taking the field not determined to prove something.

I hope he takes full advantage of the opportunity to rewrite the perception of Tom Savage.

Will Tom Savage finally throw his first TD pass today? I wonder if Vegas bookmakers have placed odds on this.

We can look forward to thanksgiving, Christmas and maybe New Years. That’s about it. Savage is a career backup. Dude hasn’t even thrown a touchdown in this league

Well, now he's thrown a TD and it still was pretty damned unimpressive. He may have taken the field determined to prove something but he wasn't accurate and apparently wasn't given the level of protection he needed to get it done. Doesn't matter what he's capable of if he can't get it done and needs a castle built around him to operate then he ain't doing a ******* thing on this team.

One thing you can maybe look forward to is the free Monster Taco at Jack-in-Box with 2 Texan td's. There is a chance of 2 Texans touchdown if we include garbage time when we are down several scores with 1/2 a quarter left. No offence to Savage but he looks like no offense.

Correctomundo....the bigger question, knowing that both RS and O'Brien were behind having Savage start the season as QB1 and letting the rookie Watson watch from the sideline until he and everyone else was comfortable with him taking the starting reins....so, at what point did either guy question whether they had an OL in place to protect a less than mobile Savage or at some point a first year rookie QB?

For this reason and I could comfortably say, this reason alone, both RS and O'Brien should be shown the door at the end of the season. Neither were prepared for the "what-ifs" this season.

If that's a free monster taco when the Texans score tow or more TDs in a month, or a six week period... Maybe.
