SO the Texans are in first place in the division....

Woohoo we're I first place. Who cares if the biggest reason is because every other team in this division is a bigger joke than we are? This team is going the ride this meteoric wave of mediocrity deep into the post season. Seriously this first place talk is laughable.

Indy found it's groove in the 4th. Bronco defense couldnt get off the field(broncos had a stupid defensive penalty)

I don't get all this bad talk about the AFC south.

Today the division had a very good day:

the colts are leading the denver broncos, which is an undefeated team...

the titans won against the saits

the jags lost, but only by 5 points against the jets which are having a damn good season

the texans didn't lose either

seems a pretty good division to me :)

Colts looked pretty good today. Not to take anything away from them, but Denver didn't look very good.

But Colts looked good. Luck looked good.

Are we still in 1st Bob?

1. Cincinnati (8-0)
2. New England (8-0)
3. Denver (7-1)
4. Indianapolis (4-5)
5. NY Jets (5-3)
6. Pittsburgh (5-4)
7. Buffalo (4-4)
8. Oakland (4-4)
9. Kansas City (3-5)
10. Miami (3-5)
11. Houston (3-5)
12. Baltimore (2-6)
13. Jacksonville (2-6)
14. San Diego (2-6)
15. Tennessee (2-6)
16. Cleveland (2-7)

Midway through the season. Time for Buffalo & Oakland to turtle up & start doing their best Washington Generals impression.

Colts have survived their gauntlet - Patriots, Saints, Panthers and Broncos. With the firing of Hamilton, they're better for the losses. In first place with the toughest games out of the way, this 'race' is over.

Edit: Colts remaining schedule is Falcons - Buccs - Steelers (probably without Ben) - Jags - Texans - Dolphins - Titans. The Colts could very well go undefeated the rest of the season. The meat of our schedule begins with the Bengals and except for Titans and Jags it doesn't get any easier here on out.

If you look at this in a mirror then we're 5-3.

I am almost glad the Colts won so we can finally get it out of our heads that the Texans have a shot at the post season. Its more likely that we lose out than it is we make the playoffs.
What are you going to say if the Texans win out?

This coaching staff has had two weeks to put together a game plan & teach our players to do their part for Cincinnati. If we look like we did against Kansas City, Carolina, & Miami.... I'll be shocked (again) if we don't make a HC change.

& I'm talking about unprepared. Defensively can't stop the Bengals & offensively can't move the ball on them. If we get through the first quarter still looking for our first first down & we're already down by two or more scores... something has to change.

If this happens again, the only one that might be let go will be Crennel. Just a hunch.

******* Bronco's not getting it done against Indy.

Dayum Shame.

I'm not surprised that Indy is finally starting to play better. They were in the AFC Championship game just 10 months ago. They are a good team that has been playing bad up to this weekend.

The Texans, on the other hand, are just a bad team. Period. They overachieved when they beat the Titans, Jags, and Bucs. They might have 2 more wins in them this season, if they continue to overachieve every once in awhile.

Minor disagreement. I think that they played at their level when they beat those teams. That's where our "bar" is set right now. Those are the teams we're going to beat. Anyone better we will lose to. The respective scores in those games are a reflection of how good we were playing on those days vs. how bad they were playing but overall those are teams we should be beating. We're not good enough to be able to expect wins against anyone "respectable or above".

We have three wins this season. Here's where those three teams were picking in this year's draft:

#1
#2
#3

Murderer's row right there.

lol If there was ever a foreshadowing of what our season was destined to yield......

Heard this morning that only 10 teams in the NFL have winning records right now. Parity is a real thing.

Atlanta takes care of Indianapolis and we get by the Jets this Sunday then we're .500 and in first place so by NFL standards the Texans are not anywhere near as **** as we like to think they are.

Where was this .500 wins it back when we were a solid .500? :foottap:

The win tasted so good, but the situation is just that much graver than it was yesterday, because the Colts won too. They always manage to get their home game against us scheduled late in the season, when it's cold up there. We can count on losing that game; we always do. That gives them a 1 game advantage and the 1st tiebreaker, so to prevail we'd have to gain two games on them in the other 5 weeks.

It really bothers me to respond to anything you post, but what does the weather have anything to do with anything when playing in Indy? They play in a retractable roof stadium. If the weather is nasty, the roof will be closed.
I do, grudgingly, agree with you that the Texans always seem to play the Indy home game late in the season, when more is on the line and they've (more likely than not) already beaten the Texans at home.

its all going to come down to the Texans @ Colts

I would think that would decide the fate of the AFCS div

So now ...

#1
#2
#3
#6
#21 (who have more primetime performance anxiety than we do, if that's even possible)

... just a continuation.

hopefully we will make it deep in the PLayoffs so we will be picking in the 20's next year

If we don't beat Indy IN INDY, we don't deserve to go to the playoffs.

WE WILL win there eventually. This could be the year. We still control our own destiny. While we lose the tiebreaker at the moment, a victory over INDY AT INDY gets us even in the head to head and we have one less loss in the conference for the second tie-breaker.

Next 3 games for Indy, Houston, and Jax:

Hou: New Orleans, New England, @ Buffalo

Ind: Tampa Bay, @ Pittsburgh, @ Jacksonville

Jax: San Diego, @ Tennessee, Indy

Way I see it is Houston needs this game Sunday vs. the Saints. There's little to no chance they beat NE and asking them to go on the road and beat Buffalo is a tall task as well. Could see Indy losing at Pittsburgh and even the Tampa game won't be easy. Jax might creep up and be in 1st in 3 weeks.

NO is 1-4 on the road and averaging less than 20 points. Even with Ryan gone as DC, there is too much to fix on the #32 defense over the bye week. This one is going to be all about what defense shows up for the Texans.

Buffalo game is intriguing. They are only 2-3 at home so far but have played well on the road. They have two road games @NE and @KC, the two hottest AFC teams right now, before facing the Texans. Will be interesting to see how they show at home after those two games.

It's an intriguing end to the season for the Texans, certainly.

The last few weeks they've taken wins out of games despite not playing consistently well across all 3 phases.

4 of our final 6 games you'd say an aspiring playoff team should win comfortably (NO, BUF, TEN, JAX). The Colts are no great shakes this season, and we should have beaten them at home, but that record on the road against them means I'll never get my hopes up. Their comeback win yesterday was gutting, I was following it from the box score only but I honestly felt we were going to finish up last night a game clear atop the AFCS.

I won't say I expect it, but this team should end up with a 10-6 record given their remaining schedule, nothing of what I've seen so far this season tells me they can perform consistently week in week out and put up the record they should, but there you have it.

Even 9-7 might put us in the hunt for the wildcard, and who knows what happens if we do sneak into the playoffs.

Billy better have learned a few lessons from this season though, because he won't be so lucky ever again across his career, and this season is showing me plenty of huge holes across this team, probably even more than there were when he started, which is scary.

With the way this season has gone for the Texans, I can't bring myself to see any game as a cinch for the Texans. I also can't rule them out of winning any of them, including the Pats game. I hope the Texans history of winning in December continues.

indy sec looks tough

Tampa Def is Stout and they are playing good right now @Pitts in dec lord have mercy and @Jax is no easy task has well

jags could go either way they could run the table or Lose out

I for one cant wait till we play the patriots I wanna see what level we are at and we get to play the CHamps

anywho the last 3 games we play

@Tenn
@Indy
vs JAgs

those 3 games are pretty much the season IMO

Is there an Aaron Rogers in this draft?

Short answer - No! Of course nobody knew Aaron Rodgers was going to be "Aaron Rodgers" when he was drafted either. Which is why he fell in the 1st round. Some think that Goff could be the next "Rodgers" (in talent) but he's not expected to fall from the top 10 and he may choose to go back to school.

If Hoyer & Yates play well the remainder of this season.....there will be no QB taken in the draft....Obrien will stick w/the 3 he has now....My prediction....

Why do we need to draft a QB when we have Yoyoer and Yates?

the only way we don't draft a QB in 1st round is if Hoyer or yates wins the SB

So Norg, you're doing real well with your typing these days. But it looks like you read like you used to type. That was a joke, a deliberate misspelling of Hoyer's name.

Or maybe you knew that and just responded anyway to make me think you can't read? I may think I know what you're saying, and you may think you know what I'm saying, but you'd be wrong.
