This isn’t Pop Warner.Um, imagine a 23 year old acting like...well a 23 year old. The horror!
The plays called, @CloakNNNdagger mentioned Stroud had ability to trash the play. The excuses are ridiculous and at the same time deserving of this situation.CJ was getting rocked by the blitz, and Slowik had no answer. People have selective memory, but Stroud was holding private practices in the offseason with his receivers, getting Diggs familiar in the offense. Everything was positive until the Vikings, then the Packers game. That's when things began to turn. No answers for stunts, no hot reads for the blitz, continually putting Kenyon Green on the field. No adjustments. No answers. Here we are. If someone had to go, damn straight it was going to be Bobby Slowik.
No ****, but that doesn't change the fact that he's still young, still learning how to be a professional (you ever worked with anyone straight out of college...newsflash it isn't the easiest transition) and was in the midst of a season where he was getting physically pounded on and his least successful season since, maybe ever. This is a learning experience, despite what you think no one is perfect at this immediately. This isn’t Pop Warner.
Bobby just got fired after NO ONE thought he would. It’s not that hard to see Stroud is the reason. Mulugheta is in Hannah’s ear.
Come contract David the man from parts we cant talk aboubt around these parts is going to break it off in Hannah/Cal. Good luck with that.
LZ is lying.Zierlein told the same story just prior to the 2023 draft. Remember, he had Tyree Wilson and Will Levis going to the Texans in his mock. Lance hasn't broken news on the Texans since Ryans came to town. He just doesn't have the contacts there he once had.
Excuses. I don’t expect the second overall pick in the draft to be slouching and pouting on the bench when things don’t go his way. We JUST got rid of a QB who did the same damn thing. No ****, but that doesn't change the fact that he's still young, still learning how to be a professional (you ever worked with anyone straight out of college...newsflash it isn't the easiest transition) and was in the midst of a season where he was getting physically pounded on and his least successful season since, maybe ever. And to demand perfection right out of the gate is weird
Didn't say Lance was lying. Making stuff up, again. Just that his access isn't what it once was. And whatever happened during Stroud's predraft visit didn't stop the Texans selecting Stroud. Right?LZ is lying.
OK
It's not optimal when you're the operations manager of a billion dollar company. You would hope your guy is mature enough to get along with people trying to help him.Um, imagine a 23 year old acting like...well a 23 year old. The horror!
You’re saying he is lying.Didn't say Lance was lying. Making stuff up, again. Just that his access isn't what it once was. And whatever happen during Stroud's predraft visit didn't stop the Texans selecting Stroud. Right?
And they are pretending like this information won’t be confirmed by other sources. It's not optimal when you're the operations manager of a billion dollar company. You would hope your guy is mature enough to get along with people trying to help him.
Nope, CJ is smarter than everybody else he's worked for besides Ryan Day.
Either LZ is lying/making stuff up or he's not. I'm telling you he's not.Didn't say Lance was lying. Making stuff up, again. Just that his access isn't what it once was. And whatever happen during Stroud's predraft visit didn't stop the Texans selecting Stroud. Right?
So CJ is now Deshawn Watson...ok you can draw that parallel if you want; I will not be.Excuses. I don’t expect the second overall pick in the draft to be slouching and pouting on the bench when things don’t go his way. We JUST got rid of a QB who did the same damn thing.
Either you're lying about what I said, or your reading comprehension ability is severely lacking. I'm not questioning what Zierlein said he heard. I'm questioning the veracity of the information he received. You’re saying he is lying.
Ok, been out of the loop for a bit but I'm going to need some sources for thisEither LZ is lying/making stuff up or he's not. I'm telling you he's not.
Yes, CJ was luckily forced on Ryans/by ownership. Unfortunately they've been left to deal with the immaturity issues, which were the biggest issues during the pre draft process. The talent is real and you have to deal with the other crap if you want the talent. Hopefully CJ grows up and puts in the work.
Seems to be very consistent and on message for them, actually. And the fascination with his agent seems weird
Deshaun pouted on the bench with the towel over his head. CJ pouted all season long and let his emotions dictate his body language which both are a sign of a bad leader. This really isn’t that complicated. So CJ is now Deshawn Watson...ok you can draw that parallel if you want; I will not be.
Despite what you may think there is a difference from things not going your way to having the first real setback of your professional career (not to mention the physical aspect this season took on him).
Don't disagree that he needs to respond well this offseason but to write him off after last season seems harsh.
And the fascination with his agent seems weird
Yeah, I've not even seen this level of vitriol directed at BorasSeems to be very consistent and on message for them, actually.
I’m not apologizing for not wanting this franchise to be associated with an agent who laughed a racial smear campaign against the owner. I don’t give a damn if you don’t appreciate that.Seems to be very consistent and on message for them, actually.
Are you saying you thought he would be fired this year? I did tooYou didn’t not think he would get fired THIS year. Stop it.
I can find clips of damn near every QB doing that, **** the internet is littered with images/memes of Brady doing the exact same thingDeshaun pouted on the bench with the towel over his head. CJ pouted all season long and let his emotions dictate his body language which both are a sign of a bad leader. This really isn’t that complicated.
Brady was accomplished. Not a second year QB. Stroud lets ANY miscue affect his mental.I can find clips of damn near every QB doing that, **** the internet is litter with images/memes of Brady doing the exact same thing
He/she knows that. He just hates on Stroud mostly because of who his agent is. No reasonable rational involvedI can find clips of damn near every QB doing that, **** the internet is litter with images/memes of Brady doing the exact same thing
Hate to break it to you, but this is kind of the hallmark of all second-year professionals. It's a behavior that is learned not instantly granted upon a player when they are draftedBrady was accomplished. Not a second year QB. Stroud lets ANY miscue affect his mental.
Can’t say Bobby didn’t have any business being an OC with Stroud having the rookie year he did. Maybe it is Stroud who didn’t adjust.I chalk CJ's pouting up to frustration with his OC and OL. I would be pissed if Slowik was my coach too. Need I remind you that Slowik started out as a defensive assistant. Then he became an assistant and then eventually a passing coordinator, whatever the hell that means. Kyle Shanahan was the brains behind anything they did. Guy had literally zero play calling experience in the NFL and it showed every week with his inability to adapt or change. He was promoted way too quickly. He has no business being an OC at this level, at this time.
I just hope they do not repeat this mistake with the next hire. I am still on the Darrell Bevell bandwagon. The guy has a great track record as an OC and experience. I don't see any insight to him being a serious candidate at this time, though. Plus he is linked to Pete Carroll in LV now.
No, I can confidently say that. Teams figure out other teams all the time, you have to be able to adjust and coach. Slowik showed he wasn't able to do that. Can’t say Bobby didn’t have any business being an OC with Stroud having the rookie year he did. Maybe it is Stroud who didn’t adjust.

To be elite you must be consistent. Stroud has not yet shown that he is elite. No, I can confidently say that. Teams figure out other teams all the time, you have to be able to adjust and coach. Slowik showed he wasn't able to do that.
Stroud has plenty to work on, but he is still an Elite QB. But when the lights came on he found another gear. He needs innovation and a better scheme to help him be more consistent. Your LG and RG letting free runners up the gut will kill your offense every time.
I wonder how many more Super Bowls Brady would have won if he was not diving off cliffs.I can find clips of damn near every QB doing that, **** the internet is littered with images/memes of Brady doing the exact same thing
I got my dates wrong I guessHartline didn't become OC until after Stroud went to the NFL. Then Buckeye OC Kevin Wilson was a college offensive lineman whose forte was the running game. During Stroud's last year at Ohio State, Wilson carried 3 phones. Personal, Ohio State related, and one for organizing his next job as Tulsa HC. Looking at that, it's no wonder CJ spent most of his time with Ryan Day, the architect of the offense.
Mahomes spent last offseason taking care of toddlers and traveling all across Europe. I hope that doesn't prevent him from winning the next Super Bowl.I can find clips of damn near every QB doing that, **** the internet is littered with images/memes of Brady doing the exact same thing
True, but are you saying they dont have a talent deficiency on the OL.
One things for sure the OL this yr was a group of dumb individuals. Hopefully they hire a no nonsense Alex Gibbs type OL coach that can decide if who they currently have can be taught or cut loose and he can bring in smarter OL in the draft/FA.
Now hold on... I'm not looking for dirt, I assume you're including me since you quoted me & he's responding to your response to me.It's not just that. They are looking for dirt to support their Stroud narrative.
Sounds to me it was the whole offense, not just Cj... don't know what Mulugheta has to do with anything. For all we know, this is what Mixon was talking about.Bobby just got fired after NO ONE thought he would. It’s not that hard to see Stroud is the reason. Mulugheta is in Hannah’s ear.
Whomever, it’s a problem. This is Cal’s franchise.Sounds to me it was the whole offense, not just Cj... don't know what Mulugheta has to do with anything. For all we know, this is what Mixon was talking about.
Before we get carried away, & I'm rooting for Cj to win many Super Bowls for the Houston Texans, but the Chargers have been here, the Jags have been here, the Titans have been here.Stroud has plenty to work on, but he is still an Elite QB.
1 time in 2024. 1 time. But when the lights came on he found another gear.
Once we get the refs in our pocket & Dalton Schultz brings in teenie boppers S2roud can do whatever the hellhe wants. Until then, head down, mouth shut.Mahomes spent last offseason taking care of toddlers and traveling all across Europe. I hope that doesn't prevent him from winning the next Super Bowl.

Inside Patrick and Brittany Mahomes' epic summer vacation in NFL offseason
NFL star Patrick Mahomes has been making the most of the offseason as he gears up for a Super Bowl three-peat. The Kansas City Chiefs quarterback and his wife Brittany have enjoyed a luxurious Euro…www.the-sun.com
I am okay with Jerrod Johnson continuing as Stroud's quarterback but not as the offensive coordinator. This is one position I would allow my quarterback to have a say in who is the coach.I can imagine the QB meetings with Jerrod. Because as a QB my 1st course would be through Jerrod. I'm just thinking Jerrod was as frustrated with Slowik & the OL coach & it was something that bonded them together.
I don't know that Cj had a problem with Wilson. His issue would have been with Brian Hartline
What? No, I was referring to @steelbtexan , @djohn2oo8 and others who have been pushing against Stroud since prior to the draft, due to the agent connection. Now hold on... I'm not looking for dirt, I assume you're including me since you quoted me & he's responding to your response to me.
That does not make it Stroud's fault. We could also say that you have been one and three getting along with people on this message board. That does not make you wrong either. This is all I've been trying to say and that he's 1-3 in the getting along with his OC's dept.
Probably a minority here, but I am not going to allow you to interpret CJ Stroud's body language for me.Not only that. They saw his body language all season. ALL season.
Lazy, dumb, lack of cohesiveness, lack of athleticism, some combination thereof...it didn't work. Let me be fair to Bobby Slowik. What he drew up was not going to work with this offensive line. He got chicken shiite and could not turn it into chicken salad. Still, Slowick was slow (or stubborn) to make changes that could maximize what he had on hand. That was my frustration with him. Hope he gets another chance with players that can operate his system.I would say that the Texans line this past season (and before that to honest) looked like one of those groups where you could probably do better with less "talent" but more in the motor and hard work department. a few of them looked downright lazy and I'm not even thinking about the guy we both disagree over. This is the Mason/Howard/Green problem. Nobody in that group is either smart enough or dedicated enough to make the cut IMO.
Bobby just got fired after many people did not think he would be. It's not that hard to see that slow's bad offensive scheme and play calling and inability get along with his quarterback who had a record season in 2023 is the problem. Slowik refused to adjust or more likely had nothing to adjust to. It is obvious that common sense led Hannah to make the decision to terminate Slow.Bobby just got fired after NO ONE thought he would. It’s not that hard to see Stroud is the reason. Mulugheta is in Hannah’s ear.
Or maybe just like tens of thousands of fans Stroud could see that what slow was putting on the field was not working and he was upset and angry and not pouting. It's not optimal when you're the operations manager of a billion dollar company. You would hope your guy is mature enough to get along with people trying to help him.
Nope, CJ is smarter than everybody else he's worked for besides Ryan Day.
Or a respected, knowledgeable offensive coordinator like Kelly comes in and rights the ship. Stroud and the others will understand that Chip knows how to win and as with such leaders, employees follow willingly.Either LZ is lying/making stuff up or he's not. I'm telling you he's not.

Well yeah.. but....I can find clips of damn near every QB doing that, **** the internet is littered with images/memes of Brady doing the exact same thing
He does it all of the times.Lance isn’t one to make up news.
