Ok here is my question. The Reggie Bush, Vince Young Debate. Everyone in here seems to think they are an expert so what is your basis on these two players? I have read views from both sides so lets take Reggie first.
We all know the guy has moves out of this world and has real good speed, but his knock is his size, can't run up the middle. How do you know? Because USC didn't use him that way? 5'11 203 lbs of solid muscle does not seem small to me. How can you post arguments based on assumptions? Oh because Kiper says so? If you listen to his teammates they say he can run up the middle. If you listen to him, he says he can.Small ,Tony Dorsett was smaller than he is, I think he had a decent career! As far as taking hits he really does not run straight up. Should be able to take glancing blows,if they can catch him.The dude is just awesome, electric. And Vince who cares if he throws it off the ground as long as he completes it.
And so what if he scored a 6 or 16 on the wonderlick. He can run, he can move and he can move an offense. You can be dumb as a box of rocks but if you can play, who gives a *******!!! The only debate I have is who helps this year. That vote goes to RB because he can step in NOW!!! Vince will need a year or two before he is ready. But really if you are gonna argue a point use your OWN personal knowledge of the guy not what you read or hear. They are both excellent players, the question is who is the best fit and who helps you NOW.

Whiskey,

IMO, it's Bush hands down. He can be a RB, WR, PR or KR. He has speed, moves, hands, yada yada...he will make us much more explosive and scary right now.

Vince is a super talent, but will take time to develop.

Does any Texans fan really expect them to go to the superbowl this year? I think no matter what moves they make they are going to take 1-2 years to be better staffed and have a cohesion with the new system's we are implementing. So Young would'nt hamper the team by learning for a year or two, so that immeadiate impact argument holds no weight with me. Having said that i back my team not the players so c'mon APR 29!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

I'm not arguing Reggie's size. I also believe he will be most of what everyone says he will be.

But I think both he & Vince are worthy of this years #1 overall. We've got a productive back, and an up & comer. Then we have Kubiak, who was part of a system that would deal their most productive runningbacks once they started asking for money........ the #1 overall is going to be asking for that kiind of money from jumpstreet. And there are runningbacks in this draft who would be very successfull in Denver, that will be on the board in the second round....... and we've got the first pick in the second round.

We've got two ProBowl Wide Recievers, a ProBowl KR(who also plays wide reciever, and is faster than fast), and we have productive RBs.... we are explosive and scary right now.

There is another thread on this board, where the Carr :homer: s are begging (ok, they aren't begging) for a 2 year grace period....... but very few are willing to give him two. He's got this year to show improvement, and has to produce in 2007... where Vince may/may not be productive in 2007.

My basis is that 100% of the big time scouts and prospect ranking gurus are saying that Bush grades out almost PERFECTLY.

And Young? Weird mechanics. Ran a lot of plays out of a shotgun formation, which didn't help Kingsbury and Symons too much when they went to the pros. And he's already charging kids for his autograph...classy.

Throw in the idea that Carr's option was picked up, meaning the new coach is in favor of a restoration project and NOT in drafting a newbie QB, and you have absolutely no need to grab a QB in the first round. Doesn't matter how talented Young is...our team and its decision makers have decided that Carr is the guy. It's why Capers was fired and Kubiak was hired.

Young will do OK. Bush will be a superstar from day one, if you ask me.

Is Bush worth all the money? That's a tough one.

If we can't afford it, then I'm in favor of other options. I'm not so sold on Bush that I would be happy with selling the farm for him.

If he agrees to 24 mill...grab him up. If not, there's 3 more players I wouldn't mind having on our team, in this order: Ferguson, Williams, and Hawk.

I have an idea, let's start another thread on exactly the same debate that has raged here for months ... because why? Has anything changed in the four days or so since we had the last round? Sweet damn, let dead dogs lie.

Kind of like how 610 said they are going to have draft coverage until Vince is drafted. Not "Listen to coverage of who the Texans pick." Tired......:crying:

I think that whoever of the three we get will be awesome, Reggie, Mario, or Vince.

As for the front office's decision - I truly hope they make that decision on what is best for the team because whatever the fans want can change in a heartbeat.

Before all this, everyone wanted us to lose all our games so we can get Bush. Everybody even chanted his name as they saw us losing. As if he is going to be the savior of our team. We got the #1 pick and now everyone wants to come up with an excuse not to take him.

I for one want the dude because I know we are not getting Vince and because I had to sit through a crappy season week after week and I feel we should get what we are due.

BS. I wanted us to win at the time, wanted us to pass on bush, and still am quite vocally anti-Bush. My wanting someone else didnt start at the Rose Bowl. I still think we are getting Vince. You might not agree with it, you might not like it, but thats what i see happening.

Bro, I was in the same crowd with you. You can look back and all my post will talk about how we should try to win no matter what because nothing is guaranteed.

I am talking about those who were wanting us to lose for that reason which at the time was pretty much everyone. Please excuse the weak use of the term everyone.

I don't think we are getting Vince though. I would love to but don't think it is happening and if that is the case then Bush is the second best option and we should go for him.

Who helps you now? Bush or Mario Williams. Who are the Texans considering? Bush and Mario Williams. There is no debate between Bush and Vince anymore other than a small lingering one on this MB from time to time.
