Brenda Warner courted for gig in New York, too

The wife of two-time NFL most valuable player Kurt Warner has created a stir in New York - and she hasn't said a word.

Radio executives at ESPN-1050 are lobbying to get Brenda Warner to agree to regular appearances on their station, now that Kurt has signed a two-year contract to quarterback the New York Giants.

"We would love to give her an opportunity," ESPN-1050's Mike Thompson told the New York Daily News. "I've already sent some feelers out. She has already proven that she is sometimes more direct than many athletes, coaches or agents."

Brenda Warner, who grew up in Cedar Falls and met Kurt when they were students at Northern Iowa, was outspoken during her husband's tenure with the St. Louis Rams, including challenging coach Mike Martz on whether Warner had a broken bone in his throwing hand.

Last fall, after Warner lost his starting job to Marc Bulger, Brenda Warner said on St. Louis station WMLL that Kurt's days in St. Louis were numbered.

"Probably," she said. "Just from the point that we want to play, he wants to play, plain and simple."

While ESPN-1050 chases Brenda, another New York City sports station is shying away. WFAN program director Mark Chernoff told the Daily News his station wasn't interested because "I don't know if there would be that many issues for her to discuss."

ESPN 1050 is probably only interested to see if they can get her to say something contriversial rather than any insite she might have. NY media loves to start issues.
