I’m not but I understand your frustration.

Looking at that interview shows me he thinks he's above the league. You have time to do an interview but refuses to answer calls or have a face to face with the team you praised for believing in you and making you one of the highest paid NFL players ever. That my friend shows his true character. That interview was very distasteful.

What interview is this?

It will definitely set a precedent. It would be very interesting to have the Texans play hard ball, and make him honor the contract or sit out. I'm sure the NFL backroom meetings would ensure Eaterby is made whole for money lost if that happens; just to ensure it doesn't' start the Harden trend.

I've always been a fan of my teams as well as certain players across the league. What this dude and his agent is doing I won't ever support.

That wasn't really an interview. It was a group of guys having a light-hearted round table chat at the Madden Pro Bowl. They were all cutting up and laughing

No if they did that off camera then it’s a group of guys just cutting up. Watch Watson’s face during that, he knew exactly what he was saying and how it would be taken.

Watch the whole show, they were laughing and bsing for 4 min before that. Watson was laughing all through the comment. If anyone took that serious, they wanted to.

Session starts at 06:50, question/comment comes at 48:10

Check out what Brett has to say on this issue.

Farve is right. Players are paid for doing a job. Just like anyone else. However, they may make 2+mil a year to our 50k. Making that much money means you report to work and do the best job you can. Don't complain about things and collect the money. Seeing as others have pointed out, the Texans control him. If they say no to the trade, and he sits, they all but break even this year. They can force him to either play or retire. As Farve said "we get paid too much" and he is right.

Brett should probably stop throwing stones from that glass house he’s sitting in.

Did Brett force his way out after just signing a new contract worth 159 million 110 of it guaranteed. And then lying about how he wants to stay here because the owner just showed him how much they wanted him to be the face of this dysfunctional franchise.

It actually could be better to not be in cap hell and have a boatload of picks from the DW4 trade. This will take a couple of yrs to clear the books and draft well to fix this team.

The Texans SHOULD get a haul of picks they haven't seen since the expansion years. If they do get three 1st rounders (plus) and maneuver a trade back for even more, well, they have the ammo to make a quick come back.

Just 2 problems:

Nail 60-75% of the draft picks and find another good quarterback.

Because Cal had paid Korn Ferry $500K. It should be noted that Korn Ferry did not recommend Caserio. Keep in mind that is was Bill O'Brien that was in hot pursuit of Caserio. O'Brien could well be screwing the Texans 5 years after his departure.
To be fair, Korn Ferry also recommended Bill O'Brien, so they aren't exactly infallible in their recommendations. I was concerned that the McNairs went back to them.

Not saying Caserio was the best choice, but I'd be just as suspicious of a Korn Ferry hire.

He saw a small hole (reason) where he could escape with the money and decided to run. He saw the handwriting on the wall that was saying, it would be hard, almost impossible to win a division in the next couple years much less a Super Bowl. And with the Patriot Clowns now running the show this wasn't going to happen regardless. Unfortunately this is about DW4 and nobody else.

this make me mad how u gonna bail when things get tough ..?????

BTW Dhop and ramsey pro bowl interview was to funny tho ...i can see how King bill prob didnt mesh with hopkins

I understand. Once, I finish laughing at this public squabble between millionaires and billionaire, unless there was something said or done that was offensive, inappropriate and unprofessional, I will quickly go from amusement to disinterested.

You know I was pulling for this guy. He looked to be the answer but man how quickly that changed once he got that hefty contract. That little round table with D. Sanders did it for me.

This is just another McNair fail. Keep doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.

Out of curiosity since one the best salary cap managers has been fired, who is now managing the cap and negotiating contracts?

Last I heard was the Olson's assistant. Cant remember his name. But rumor has it Easterby was the lead in contract negs last yr even though the other dude had the title.

Easterby screwed up by my count the Tunsil/Mercilus/Murray/Cunningham contract negs last yr. It cost Cal millions.

It’s still possible he plays for the Texans in 2021. Slim, practically nonexistent, but still a chance.

would you be ok with that?

I wouldn't be, I want the guy gone. The way he has gone about this whole thing is unprofessional and has left a bad taste in my mouth. Then again there is a side of me that hopes we don't trade him, he sits out and he loses all that money while wasting his career away....

Methinks you're putting too much credence into the media chatter. I want him to play for the Texans and have another career year. Trading him sets a terrible precedent that the NFL does not want

From a make the team better point of view yes, BUT if I was the Texans I would start coming up with plan B just in case. Watson has shown that something makes him mad he will drag the whole team down, you can work around that but that is never the type of guy you want to build long term around.

Fact is this was the first really bad year since Watson got here, that he didn’t get injured in, those are the kind of seasons where you see what a player is really made of. I think part of this is Watson just honestly doesn’t know how to handle failing on the field because he’s never done it. Sure he’s lost games but they were still fights and they were playoff games or in college championship games so he was still coming off a winning season. This is the first time where no matter how well he played the team was just bad. I don’t think he has the maturity to handle that.

I have seen no reports of him speaking to the Texans, by all accounts he is avoiding them which is a little immature IMO especially when they are the ones writing your million dollar checks.

This.. I voted to trade, depending on compensation.. it would have to be a Herschel type of trade though, which I don't see happening. I don't care who said what. There are 2 reasons I am privy to that would cause DW to be disgruntled.. 1. his stance on the Caserio hiring... tough noogies.. suck it up and go out there and earn your fat contract. 2. Any insensitivity by the Texans organization..tough noogies.. that smoke was already bellowing long before he signed his extension.. suck it up and go out there and earn your fat contract.
The fact that he signed his contract is my sticking point of tough noogies. IF there's one thing I know, based on my REMOTE observations of the circus of an organization the Texans have been in the past number of years... If I know it, Watson should have damn well known it. So, in the words of my old man, the advise I would give to Watson... Take your medicine son!

There is zero reason to trade him before this season starts. If he decides to sit, you play with the men who show up. Will it most likely be a terrible season? Yes... but then you set yourself up for your own top five pick... and then look to trade him. His value isn't going to drop.

Also, while a change of heart seems impossible, who knows what can happen with time.

I do wish Watson would actually be the leader he is and come out and talk in the open. The dumb and cryptic lyric silliness is immaturity. He is a good person. He could handle this better. Obviously the Texans have been really dumb and could handle this better also.... Watson and the Texans are partners in how this looks.

Yeah he knew what he was getting into when he signed that contract. Hell if anything it was worse than it is now. How spoiled these players are....

Jets trade Darnold to New Orleans for round one?

1.2 + 1.23 + 2.34 + 3.66 + 3.87
ask for Quinnen Williams and Becton.

Jets: Watson+ Cobb + Merci + Tunsil + Martin + McKinney

They take on cobbs bad contract. Martin starts for them and gives Watson a familiar ass to touch. McKinney starts for them. All those are much needed salary cap relief for us. Tunsil for Becton also gives us salary cap relief and replaces Tunsil with a young talented LT to grow with our new QB.

2) Wilson
the rest of the draft get positions of need Like an Edge player, CB another OL and a RB.

use salary cap space on FA defensive players. Not sure you could hope for more in one year than that.

Who cares what the NFL wants? we need to do what’s best for the team. And the media is just telling it like it is Or Watson would make a statement. The longer we hold on the less we will get and the longer it will take to recover. Rip off the bandaid. Move on. We don’t need him if this is how he’s going to act. We had him last year and we won 4 games.
