Should we trade Watson?

Should we trade Watson?

  • Yes, without a doubt.

  • Yes, depending on compensation (please list your trade scenario).

  • No, never.

  • No, unless he plays hardball and sits.

Results are only viewable after voting.
I would do it too BUT I wouldn't do it for anything less.

Yep, you have to make sure the trade gives you enough draft capital/Cap room to do a quick rebuild.

I just described what a quick rebuild might look like if a trade like this was made. The Texans would be well set up for the future if a trade like the one you described happened. The Texans org would be in a much better place than they would be if they held onto DW4. IMHO

Which is why this will never happen.

I get why he is upset. While the Texans didn't have to involve him, they said the would have him involved in the GM and H.C process. Reportably, they have done the exact opposite. I mean to not even request an interview with Bienemy is a disgrace. Even if the Texans didn't want to hire him, you must atleast interview him when your star QB is advocating for him.

From what I've heard , they all but offered Bieniemy the job and he refused them.
They would have hired him before hiring a GM if he said yes.
This isn't a case of them not giving him an interview , its he doesn't want the job.

Peter King just told Sky Sports the compensation should be Tua and 3 #1s but said Tua had shaky first season.

Said Watson is pissed and Texans need to let him cool off before coming to the table, may well be best for all parties to split.

Yeah alright.

He didn't go from the top of their wish list to not being interviewed for nothing.

He was the top choice of the original "search committee" .... which included Cal , Watson , Easterby & Pancakes.

Same organization that fed us everything about a GM search and went with Cals original hard on for GM. Same Cal who said GM would decide Easterby role and then hire a guy who loves him some Easterby.

DW4 ain't stupid. He now knows Bienemy never had a chance.

DW4 has leverage

Because he DW4. Surely there a tunsil trade or hopkins trade available

Actually the new CBA is much harsher on vet players that sit out. It would be interesting to see what happens because Texans know that even if he doesn’t 21 is a rebuild year at best so it’s not like they lose a year in the win now window.

Actually him sitting out a year might be great for the Texans because his contracts all freeze so that pushes it out further before the big hit years on his new contract kick in.

Players keep proving they can work their way out. Non qbs have succeeded

Wonder what the league in general will think of a standoff, NFL and its employees

Cant blame him.
I can..... have you not been paying attention?

I wish I could be incompetent and get promoted at my job even half as much as the Texans org has shown it finds acceptable.

With that level of pay, I would achieve either a level of turn around they would tell legendary stories of me.... or Id retire early once the gravy train derailed.

He would have 20 years before ownership demanded better.

Come on man

What is NE without Brady. We just saw

No we didn’t actually, NE had more opt outs than any other team, had a crappy team even last year with Brady so that’s what they were starting with, had their facilities shut down more than other teams, had a pretty washed up QB in Cam who cost them a couple of game and had two division rivals that finally seemed to figure out how to build a team.

All this and they still were one win off from a .500 record. We had everything going into this season and still went 4-12. I’d say wait till next year before saying NE is done.

Yeah alright.

That would be a very popular first move for the new GM.
My concern is for his healing
The season ending injury was a dislocated hip and posterior wall fracture. While not totally uncommon, this is a serious injury normally seen in people that have had a bad car accident when their knee hits the dash of a vehicle and drives the femur into the hip, causing both the dislocation and normally a fracture or a break of some kind.

Tagovailoa did suffer an early complication when it was reported that he had a posterior wall fracture. Two days following the initial accident Tua was operated on in Houston, Texas by Dr. Chip Routt, a specialist in Ortho surgery specializing in trauma and pelvic and or hip socket fractures. there were no blood flow or cartilage issues as a result of the injury or the surgeries. Right before the 2020 NFL Combine Tua received an MRI that showed that he had none of these issues. This allowed him to intensify his rehab.
His doctor, Cain, stated that you could be more than happy with what was seen in the previous MRI alone The only hurdle left, as seen by his various doctors, is to get himself back into playing shape which might take him a while

All I can find indicate Tu'a Tag just needs time as this past offseason was not good for his rehab. Another one with ability to have more hands on with team strength coaching should be great. I realize that area is fragile and a Qb often lands on that area.

Exactly. It’s amazing that they can put this kind of crap out! Did journalistic integrity go out the window with the internet or what?

“although all remains nothing more than innuendo until Watson makes it known what he wants and how the Texans respond”

Yea no shiit
I agree that much is said without fact but that is nothing new in sports or other areas and existed far before the internet. It is just talk but we do that here.

Ok seeing as you don’t actually seem to be interested in discussing anything and are just replying like a teenager I’ll stop wasting my time after this.
Well NE had alot to prove post TB12, and Cam was the answer lol

I would think Cal's boy Nick had a better plan in place considering he's gone save a far bigger problem with the Texans.

I do respect your posts for whats its worth.

I would like to see what Nick can do but I really do think DW4 is butt hurt and not much Nick can do about that.

if i would to trade watson to miami i would want

2 first and 3 2nds plus tua and fitz

and kowing nick he would flip one of thoes 1's for like 3 more 2's so we would have 5 2nd round picks

and tank anyways in 2021 so nxt nxt draft we would have another high 1

Not no, but **** NO.

I would make Steel a happy man if that happens, I will resign as a Texans fan. That will be the last straw.

I watched them push Andre Johnson out, Arian Foster, DeAndre Hopkins, waste JJ's career and make stupid decision after stupid decision. If they throw away the franchise QB we have waited 20 years for I will be done.
I agree but the difference for me if Watson demands a trade; we have to move to get as much as we can. I don't think Nuk forced his way out, some do but if Watson goes, hopefully Caserio can bring a return that OBrien did not.

Thank you for the more thought out post. On NE I don’t think they thought he was the answer per say but more like us and Osweiler, the lesser of all evils or in this case the most talented of a limited talented group.

NE did have a plan but Kraft threw them off back when he picked Brady over Belichick. BB himself said it recently they sold the future to buy another SB. At some point the bill comes due for all teams and it finally did for the Pats this year.

I don’t know if Watson and the Texans can reconcile, I hope that things are just being blown out of proportion by the media because the original report that started all this came from a guy well known for making stuff up about the latest blockbuster trade.

If not though I would be sorry to lose Watson but I value the team over one player, any player, and if Watson was going to get this upset over something that in reality doesn’t involve him then it was coming anyway.

Not sure if anyone has mentioned this in another thread but just heard Chris Mortenson on the radio say that the he’s hearing that the Texans and Dolphins might be discussing a deal. Tua plus other compensation for DW. Apparently someone in the Texans organization is high on Tua.

What a joke if there is any substance to that.

Edit: Now PFT is reporting this. https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.c...haun-watson-would-consider-trade-to-dolphins/
I am confused?

That would be a very popular first move for the new GM.
I read both twice are you saying should/could be part of a trade if Watson is traded?

The thing is....
These new kids have a far greater understanding of themselves. DW4 knows what he is. We all understand TB12 put team and titles over himself. He did have a wife making money.

The NBA way has made its way to the NFL in my opinion.

I really hope Nick and Cal can smooth this over. If not, I dont blame DW4.

Yeah I'm a Texan fan 4 life too. But will always like DW4.

One big difference, in the NBA if you sit out your contract keeps rolling. Let’s say you want traded and there are two years left on your contract so you sit out a year. When you come back there is only one year left on your contract so in theory if a player can take the financial hit they can sit out their whole contract.

In the NFL their contract freezes so if they sit out a year with two years left when they come back they still have two years left. There are other items added in the last CBA to.

“Additionally, the deal will essentially eliminate veterans’ ability to hold out during training camp, as players who do so will not only incur massive fines — which will now be mandatory — they will also lose an accrued season, thus hurting their ability to get to free agency.”

This is true, but can Nick, Easterby, and Cal survive the hit too?

Especially when the franchise is on tilt already?

Man I really hope we don't have to see how this plays out. But again? Will a franchise put a decent offer on the table

I don't think that is his intention which is to push himself into spotlight.

Agreed, he’s tried these breaking news blockbuster scoops before and they’ve never took off. This is his first one that took off this way so now he’s riding it. Texans were an easy target because they’ve made such boneheaded moves and keep things so secret it’s easy to believe Watson is unhappy. You add the cryptic tweet from Watson and whole thing took on a life of its own.

I think they can because again it’s not like they are in a tight window, 21 was going to be a bad year with or without Watson. Add to that most fans go to the games just for the game day experience and tailgate. Not to mention the limits on people in stadiums so they were taking a hit anyway and really Watson actually picked a bad year to try and push the issue, assuming he is and it’s not just media.

I agree with you I hope this is all just smoke and I don’t know if another franchise has the capital to put a decent enough offer on the table.

Thinking out loud:

Texans trade QB Deshaun Watson and ILB Zach Cunningham to Miami Dolphins.

Miami trades QB Tua Tagovailoa, 2021 1st RD pick (#3); 2021 1st RD pick (#18); 2022 2nd RD pick (#36); 2022 1st RD pick to the Houston Texans.
Interesting but not sure Miami needs an inside linebacker more likely a pass rusher. I don't see Zach that way. They do need left tackle and could move Austin Jackson to left guard or right tackle allowing Robert Hunt more time to adjust. Tunsil could fill that role.

Jets and Dolphins have enough but will they use it?

Dude so right 21 is gonna suck

I would take one of the other jobs (Not the Lions) long before I would take the Texans job. There's far to much meddling going on from the top. Hopefully this changes with Caserio on board.

So, should the Texans trade one of the best young quarterbacks in the league for a bunch of prospects that will consistently help them win between 7 and 9 games, constantly putting them out of the running for a quarterback that may some day be as good as Watson while also keeping them out of contention for being a great team? Hmmm...

Cal and company allowed two men that weren't qualified to make long lasting football decisions for them make those decisions. He (Cal) has made things worse (did any of us think that was possible two weeks ago?) by allegedly making a promise to Watson he couldn't or wouldn't keep, and probably wasn't prudent to make to begin with.

They gotta fix this. Cut your loses and quit making things worse. Trading Watson would make things worse.

Jets might, they screwed up their tank so they lost out on Lawrence. Dolphins I don’t think so, think they want to see what they have in Tua and they have our 3rd overall to get pretty much whatever they want.
Watson is far and above Lawrence, Zach Wilson and Justin Fields. He is above Tu'a also and throwing in Tag's injury way above. It is a question of Jets and Dolphins wanting to get to SB next two years and Houston maybe taking 4-5. Is that enough to trade? We will see.

Well that is one way of looking at it but I could say Tu'a plus eight starters & with a reduction in cap moving Tunsil, Watt and Watson and possibly others like Cooks for couple vet FAs could get us into playoffs 2020 and maybe SB in 2021.
