Shelton Likes H-town

Predicatbly he is very impressed with our facilites as most free agents and players who come here are.

I hope he comes and signs here we need more competition at the position especially with Riley being out of shape and unable to land the starting job. We wouldn't necesarily have the best starting 5 but we will have the most depth espeically at the tackle position that we have EVER had which is big.

Well according to Justin Lopez in the Chron. there is noone out there that can come in and help the Texans ever.

That guy really blows.

I say bring in Shelton, get the comp going at LT and lets start getting this offense going.

Two things stand out from that article:

"I'm not expecting to come in and start," Shelton said. "But I'm looking for an opportunity to compete."

Does this mean he is not looking for starter's money?

"I've never seen anything like this," Shelton said of the team's facilities. "This is a first-class organization."

I just like when players come to visit and say this. It seems as though they all say this after coming to town.

Its always good to hear those words as well.

But, you've got to remember where Shelton is coming from. The poor Cardinals have been playing at a college football stadium.

They always say these horse crap then goes on and sign with another team. If you like the Texans and Texan greens.....sign on the dotted line!

:brickwall
That's what I'm saying. Right now the frustrating thing for me is how players use us to get a starting bid for them and then go sign somewhere else. Since we were not the first team he visited that does open up the window for us a bit.

Well he may like texas and texan green, but if another team shows him more green, he will talk all day about how he loves where he signned.

Oh he will get starter money. Trust me on that. Does Jonas Jennings ring a bell? Im not saying he will get the same amount, but free agency lights up players eyes like dollar signs. He will get his.

The Bears met with him and L.J. never said anything about them...
From what I understand is that he's from the Illinois/Michigan area, and playing for the Bears would be very attractive for him.

That's not it at all. Most veterans want to go to a winner. Something we have never been. We need to prove it on the field then we will see guys start to want to play here.

Heck bring him in as a TE. Bruener only had 4 catches last year so its not like we would lose anything in the passing game. :)

haha totally agree just put another blocker on the line....good idea. haha :highfive:

There was something that he said last night, during an interview with either Channel 2 or Fox 26, that struck me as interesting.

He made a point of pointing out the fact that ALL of the Texan's players were in camp during the off season & that he hadn't seen that anywhere else he'd been. He seemed to be very impressed with that.

I know that it doesn't seem like much to get excited about, & that the money will ultimately be the driving force, but all things being equal (ie, the money), it at least shows him that the players, coaches, & front office are committed to building a winner. That could be our edge. Or, at least I'm hoping so. :homer:
