Sharper's replacement?

While I know if we lose Sharper to a trade his skill and knowledge will be missed. And since DJ will most likely not be around when we pick in the first round. So I was thinking, how does Barrett Ruud sound with our second round pick? A lot of people compair him to Teddy Bruschi. He matches up pretty well with Sharper size wise, Sharper 6'3" 240lbs, Ruud 6'2" 248lbs. While he may not have the same athletic ability as Sharper, he could probably step in and start if we needed him to play this year.

I have liked Barrett Ruud since the beginning of the offseason workouts. He is a high energy type player w/ loads of athletic ability and experience to go with it. I think he would be there at our pick in the second, but i think if it came down to elton brown or Barrett Ruud, I'd be torn because niether of them would last to our 3rd round pick and both would fill major needs. :hmmm:

I dunno.. I definatly like his athleticism and he seems to have a good personality.. im just wary of giving 1st round money to a guy that is 26 years old.

lets say it takes him 2 seasons to get acclimated to playing in the NFL.. thats a 28 year old that is just now getting into his groove.. thats pretty old for an LB.

id be willing to grab him in the 3rd but I doubt he will be available then.

Why would you give him first round money if you draft him in the second? Are you looking at the same guy, Ruud was born on May 10, 1983 which makes him 22 years old.

sorry I misread .. I was thinking McCune in the first. (dont mind me.. ive been studying for midterms all weekend and my brain is jello)

Robert McCune is not a 1st round pick.

I agree. However, I do believe we'd have to take him in the 2nd. I don't think he'll make it to the 3rd round.
