Any idea where this kid ranks as a punter? Chad Stanley was disappointing to say the least. What round is kid projected to go in? If we are able to acquire some additional picks, why not get a solid punter.
 
We have too many holes to draft a punter in any round. Better to go with undrafted free agents or just vetern free agents. jmho
 
Punters rarely get drafted period, maybe if he's the top punter he'll get picked up in the 7th round. I'm not knocking his skills at all, just saying that punters aren't that valuable and most teams won't draft one unless they really need one and a really good one is available, remember you can occasionally find a diamond like Marques Colston in the late 7th round so you don't need to just throw a 7th rounder away on a punter figuring that you won't get anyone of value anyways.

I realize that a majority of punters do not get drafted, but being a Baylor student, I do have to vouch for this guy. He is amazing, and he will get draft unusually high for a punter. He is a special teams game changing type of player. I have personally seen two 70 + yard kicks, and he averages nearly 50 yards. he knows how to flip the field. Also, this kid was a walk on linebacker who knew how to hit. If he did not kick so well (the only two time Ray Guy award winner), he probably would have gotten to start at Linebacker. It was actually humorous, one time the returner got away and was attempting to make a long return, when none other than the punter leveled him. Oh yeah, for a punter, he's huge, in the 6'3" range and 227 lbs. He's also a top notch character guy, and an incredibly smart person (3.5 GPA in Accounting). Basically, he's going to be the exception to the rule.
 
This guy is an excellent punter...I wouldn't be suprised at all if a team drafts him before the 7th round. He gives his team great field position. I would actually think about drafting him if I were Rick Smith. You've got Chad Stanley getting heat from a free agent and he is probably going to lose his job.

This kid is sick as a punter. Absolutely amazing. As stated previously, he is a 2 time Ray Guy winner. He completely tore his ACL in his planting leg before the 2006 season, had surgery, rehabbed and was back to star in 11 games having his best season in his collegiate career. NFLDraftCountdown believes this means he is problematic in the injury area now, I disagree. Would you say McGahee is problematic b/c of his knee...not so much. Anyway, here are his stats courtesy of

He has improved every year as a punter, as show by the most excellent post above. It is a sore spot. The hits we got on day two last year were an anomoly not the norm. Most day two guys don't make it out of summer camp. Untill we get a top ten defense, the Baylor punter in day two is not a waisted pick for this club. It is a needed weapon. Crazy Al took a coule of kickers high one year. When was the last time the Raiders had to use a pick on a punter/kicker ? I don't think the Kid is Ray Guy. I do think he is a player for the sixeth round pick. We get a keeper, we won't have to pick another one for ten years. I like the Hartley Kid from OU as a kicker a couple of years from now. Another note...you go tramping cheap on kickers...it always bites you on the south end sooner or later. The guy that pins the other guys on their goal line, or booms it so high the smurfs can't get a return, is a guy you want on your team.

Thanks for the update painekiller, but that still does not rule out anything. Marciano stated in this same article, that Muro would be competing with SOMEONE in the offseason/training camps, and that they were not sure if Stanley would be his competition. That being said, I'm quite curious to see this guy kick, his description as a big (6'2" 260lb) lefty is interesting. Hopefully he is an exceptional punter and we can focus our attention in the draft toward other positions; but if he is not that good, I hope we realize this and look at one in the later rounds. I know no one wants to here about their team picking a punter during the draft, but if your opponent begins their drives inside the 25 rather than the 50, that's a HUGE help for the defense and the offense IMHO
 
yeah, Sepulveda is much more than just a punter. He can literally flip the field and would be an amzing asset. I'd love to have him but not if it means spending a 3rd or 4th rounder.

Marciano was also saying that he liked the heavy kickers because of their power and this guy seems to fit that mold.

As for the injury...he doesn't play Running Back like McGahee does and McGahee's injury was much more serious. I am just adding to what someone said before.
 
He'll very likely get drafted by some team in need of a punter. Anything before the 4th round would be a bit surprising. It's not unheard of though. Guys like Dustin Colquitt and B.J. Sander are punters that went in the 3rd round in recent drafts, and Sepulveda is definately a rare talent.
 
2. Daniel Sepulveda, Baylor: One look at this kid in uniform and he could be easily mistaken for a linebacker, which makes sense considering he was one before converting to punter. More impressive than the size (6-3, 227) is the booming leg. He's no stranger to punts of 60-plus yards and 5-plus seconds hang time.

Sepulveda is very technically sound, but he will have a few times that he over-extends or takes too long to get the ball off. As a result, the punts either fall short or go out of bounds.

A very determined athlete that works hard at his craft, rebounded quickly from surgery on his right (non-kicking) knee and returned to have his third straight All-American campaign; a school record. The Texas native would look great in a Houston Texans uniform, as he has the opportunity to become a Shane Lechler-type performer at the next level.
