I know it's still a little early but just wanted to check in to say "we come in peace". I see know reason why we'd be throwing dirt over the coming game since we have zero history and no real vested interest in seeing the each other's teams do poorly (other than this Sunday of course).

Anyway, here's to good discussion during the week and a good, injury free game on Sunday. We didn't do so good on that whole "injury free" part this week but that's football.

Anyway, I'm sure there'll be more 'Hawk fans coming through int the next few days. I'm actually kind of glad we're facing an opponent this week that we have no bad blood with. The mud slinging kind of wears you out after a while. Anyway, cheers. Great looking board.
 
Don't worry. We'll be lucky if our whole team shows up without any uniforms on backwards. We don't care anymore, anyway. We need you to beat the crap out of our team so we can fire the *****s running it.

Hilarious post. Believe me, I know where you're coming from. There have been very few years where we've outright sucked because that would be too easy. No, no, no. The way we do it is to build a team with all the potential for greatness, put ourselves in position to be amazing, and then fire one into our left pinky toe gettin' it out of the holster.

At least when you have really terrible years, you get great draft picks to give you hope. The Seahawks are perpetually mediocre - not good enough to win in the post season but not bad enough to pick any true impact players. And yet every year, we're more hopeful than the last.

Everybody has their poison, our just tastes a little different. It'll get better.

Welcome aboard Large_Ant. Your offense was impressive Sunday and Hasslebeck did me right in my fantasy leagues.... Ya know, I've been an NFL fan since the Oilers were back to back 1-13 in the early 70's and I know that every team has their dark years (tough league), but I never expected ours to start in year 4.
 
Careful Hawk Fank your team may awaken our sleeping giant of a football team. Carr is the second coming of Flash Gordon. Yes I am delusional for comparing our franchise QB to an awful Hollywood remake of a comic book, but I have never endured an 0-4 start before.
 
You guys crack me up. It's funny how consoling fantasy football can be, isn't it? At least if your real team is doing bad, you can salvage the day at least a little bit if your fantasy team is doing alright. Of course you always feel just a little dirty when the Hawks (Texans in your case) are gettin smoked because Torry Holt is going off and you've got him on your fantasy team.

Two years ago, any RB on my roster that was playing the Hawks defense was a guaranteed play. We couldn't stop a slow fat kid that year even if we put cupcakes in all of the defenders pockets. Just pathetic.

On a Texans note, what's the over/under on games before Capers & Co. are fired if this trend continues? I know they already sacrificed one lamb (the OC was it?) but at some point, the Gods will want more. Any thoughts on who you guys would want as a successor (and don't say Holmgren!!)?

And how about Carr? What's the patience level like around here for him? Do most people feel it's his fault or that he's just doing what he can until they can bolster that O-line? IMO, Dominic Davis is pretty good and Andre Johnson is a freakin' stud if you can get the ball to him. If you do end up with a top five pick this year, any thoughts on who you'd want? D'Brickshaw Ferguson should be lookin' mighty tasty right now.

D'Brickshaw. What the hell was Momma Ferguson smoking when she named that kid? Don't her and Momma Burress know you're not supposed to touch that when you're pregnant?
 
Hey there LargeAnt. I'll admit, I've never been a fan of the Seahawks until Warren Moon and now Jamie Sharper went there.

I hope that our guys make this competitive. And please tell Holmgren to take it easy on Carr. Actually tell Sharper to take it easy on Carr. After that hit Robaire Smith put on McNair yesterday, i can actually see that happening.

Other than that good game yesterday and here's to friendly posting this week and on Sunday. :respect:

Thoughts are mixed on Carr. The saddest part of trying to figure out if your multi-million dollar guy has "got it" is that he can't operate in a fair situation if the Coaches can't figure out how to fix protections. Our best pass blocking tackle is Chester Pitts and he hasn't played a snap on the edge while we have a guy better suited for RT or G playing LT in Riley - a guy who has never in his history been considered a good pass blocker at that. Last year the biggest problem was the inside rush. This year the Tackles are playing worse than the inside guys and the inside guys make mental mistake after mental mistake and haven't gotten any better.
 
Welcome large ant. I really doubt you'll get too much smack talk from Texans fans here. We're all pretty solid fans. That being said, with every passing week our eyes become a little more open, leading to many thinking we may have a perfect season! 0-16??

Anyways, I'm curious about Seatles overall feeling on Sharper. How is he doing for your team this year???

Thanks for coming in peace. I am glad you posted this as a Seahawks fan, because I used your organization as model of being in perpetual football pergatory (on another board) and that in some ways is more frustrating than just being poor and getting to start over. At the begining of this season, some of us were quietly scared that the Texans were about to turn into the Seahawks or Saints. At this point, we were worrting for nothing.
 
I think the Texans will play better if its cold wet and rainy, which in Seattle there is a solid chance. Right now the Texans can't even figure out when to open the roof @ Relient, the first opening week the fans got toasted, not just by the Steelers but a heat index over 115 degrees. This week we had a beautiful, clear & cool day in the upper 70's lower 80's and they shut the roof. what a mess :tomato:
 
I'l leave them be. We are officially the laughing stock of the NFL. You know it's bad when other teams fans won't come and run a little smack the week before the game because they feel sory for you... :bomb:
 
You know what, Hawk fan has nothing to feel so high and mighty about!!! If they beat us 45-0, and that is a real possibility, what does it prove about their team. How long have they been in the league? How many playoff wins do they have? I for one, do not need hawk fans pity!!!!!! :texflag: :homer:

I don't know - I am too lazy to go look it up. Probably more than we do. Regardless, I doubt they're employing some psychological warfar wherein they pity us to effectively run smack. It just happens that way when you are the worst franchise in the NFL.

OK, after typing that, I have to stop and think - are we actually the worst franchise in football? The Browns are making strides with Romeo Crennel. The Dolphins made a positive move by getting Saban. The Bungles are having a nice season and ever since Marvin Lewis got there, you could see the attitude change. The Saints? Maybe they save us from that dubious title, I don't know.
 
We've won three playoff games, none since 1984, we've been to the playoffs five times in that span. Not a glorious past by any stretch of the imagination. Being a Seahawks fan is a hellish spin through mediocrity and false hope. Take this year for you guys, imagine that happening every year for the next fifteen years, and you have a Seahawks fan.
I'm not here to talk smack, just football. I'm a Texans fan when they aren't playing the Seahawks and my buddy is a diehard Texans fan who still thinks there is hope for you guys and Carr and the gang will pull it together.
With that said, although playing a winless team the week after the biggest win in years is a dangerous situation, the fact that it is a Sunday night game abolishes the chance of a letdown. It also helps that the Seahawks are playing at home, and they play much much better at home. It's a fun and rowdy place to see a game, if any of you are coming up for the game, Have fun.
As bad as you must feel your team is right now, the Texans are better than that winless record. As for last week, the Titans are a lot better than people give them credit for, when they lose, its because of inexperience more than anything else.

Would you believe that in the three years that Qwest Field has been open in Seattle (which has no roof), it has not once rained on a Seahawks home game? It's true. Not very likely that this weekend will break that trend.

Funny thing about Chester Pitts. I live in Southern California and my uncle works for a city called Torrance which is just outside of Los Angeles. Chester Pitts father (who has the same name) is on the police force for the city of Torrance and my uncle knows him well. Told him that I was a Seahawk fan and he told my uncle to tell me that we (the Seahawks) are going to lose this weekend.

So far, Sharper is doing good but not great. However he has been able to stay on the field all year which is more than I can say for Anthony Simmons or Chad Brown over the last three years. That alone makes him a solid addition.
 
Glad to hear that Jamie is doing well. I was and still are one of is biggest fans. I have 3 of his jerseys, an autographed football, autographed 8x10, and a couple of autographed baseball cards. Guess they are worthless now with him in a Texans uniform.

I just can't see you guys losing with the players & potential you have. I thought we had turned it around in Cincy. The team showed fire and desire. They were not on the field just going through the motions. Then here comes the Titans. One of our big rivals, 1-3 record. We were in it for a while, then it seems like they had coaches that were capable of making adjustments(which we don't) and they started picking us apart! We will be a team to reckon with in the future, but not now.

What I hope for is an good, competetive game, with NO serious injuries to either team!!!!!!!!!!!!

Good to hear. Sharper is a class act and one of the fan favorites the past three years.

I hope he has a Pro-Bowl year starting after next Sunday. It would be proof of yet another bonehead move by this coaching staff. Getting rid of proven veteran leadership while staying $8 million under the salary cap is asinine.

Good luck next Sunday. I can only hope that the Texans are at least competitive.

Steve Large_Ant was an Oiler who went on to be a hall of fame WR since he was too small and too slow to play here.

wow...I never knew Largent was drafted by the Oilers. Darn...that figures. :brickwall

I saw an NFL Films on him recently, and he was nails. I'd venture he's definitely in the top 10 (if not top 5) WRs of all time. He seems like a cool dude, too.
 
Yeah, Houston gave Largent to us for a third or fourth round draft pick, don't remember which. He's one of those guys with deceptive speed and the ability to go up and get anything thrown in the vicinity.
The greatest thing Largent ever did was lay out Mike Harden a couple months after the Denver safety knocked him unconscious. That was a great moment.
 
Im excited to see my favorite NFL reciever play this week. The mistake from Tampa Joe Jervicous (or how ever you spell it). Love the guy and love his heart for the game.

Many of us were once Houston Oilers fans, so we know pain. We had 2 consecutive AFC Conference games back in the Earl Campbell days ('78 and '79) only to lose to the eventual champs and our most hated team (at that time), the Steelers.

We had a stretch of seven consecutive playoff appearances without even making it to the AFC Championship game under Warren Moon. During that stretch, we had to endure the infamous Bills game in 1992 (up 35-3 and lost) as well as the 1991 Denver game (up 21-6 and lost). In 1993, we rode an 11-game winning streak into the playoffs, had a bye week, and hosted the Chiefs in the second round only to lose to Joe Montana.
 
I'm quite familiar with the Oilers history. Do you remember the 1987 wild card playoff game against the Seahawks? Seahawks tie the game near the end of regulation, Fred Young picks off a pass deep in Oilers territory, its reviewed and rules incomplete, oilers drive down and win the game. I'm not bitter, it happens.
In 1993, didn't that team start 1-4 before that 11 game win streak?
There really was no way the Oilers were going to deny Montana on that day. That game was his real last hurrah. Weren't you guys up 10-0 in that game too?
There is always the question, which is worse, being a fan of an absolutely horrible team year after year, or be a fan of a team that is good, makes the playoffs but constantly breaks your heart year after year. Personally, I'd much rather be a fan of a consistent playoff team, with the heartbreak there are also many good memories I'm sure.
 
I hope both teams show up for this game and play with respect and with heart. In that said it could be a good high scoring game if the offensive line change works out for us.

One thing seahawk fan. Make sure if this game goes to overtime, tell matt hasselback to not say "We want the ball and we going to score" lol it was hilarious when he said that in that playoff game against the packers 2 years ago i think. Then he threw the interception for the score which he did throw a touchdown :) .

Oh yes, "we want the ball and we are going to score" will forever be in my memory. Imagine what a legend he would've been if they'd actually scored? The pick wasn't entirely his fault, Bannister ran a terrible route.
I'd like to see the Texans play hard, inspired football, regardless of the score. You can build on that.
 
The game where they blocked the kick and took it back for the game winning td was 1996 actually. A forgettable year for the Seahawks with the exception of that game. I forget who blocked the kick but Michael McCary a beast of a pass rusher(whom we let go) picked it up, lateraled to Robert "Ouch, there goes my hamstring" Blackmon who ran all the way for a td.
My memory isn't that good, but if you watch NFL Films highlight films repeatedly as a child, it sticks in the memory.
 
I thought the Seahawks won that 1988 game on a Norm Johnson field goal in overtime. Cause scorewise, if the Seahawks took it back for the touchdown, the score would've been 24-21 or 24-20 before the kick, with the Oilers ahead, so how exactly could the Oilers be kicking for the win? In 1996 the Seahawks won 23-16, Oilers were kicking for the win, it was tied at 16.

I waws waiting for someone to mention the sad state of affairs it is when we are drudging up games from over a decade to go.
The Seahawks don't really expose weaknesses, they just run their system offensively, regardless of what the other team does.
As one Seahawks fan said this week, "This might be the only game all week where our blitzes work". The Seahawks blitz a lot, it just doesn't work a lot. If the blitz doesn't work this week, it may never work.
Good luck the rest of the year, I'm hoping you guys turn it around, just not this week.
btw, when the schedule came out for this game, this game terrified me, I was as wrong about the texans just like everyone else.

Actually, the Oilers used a fourth round pick to draft Largent but traded him to the Seahawks for an eighth round pick (back when those existed). The even more interesting thing is that waivers and rights worked very different back then. At that time, when you cut a player, you still had rights to them and they couldn't immediately be grabbed off of waivers. The only reason that the Seahawks were able to get Largent for the lowly price of an eighth rounder despite the Oilers spending a fourth rounder on him just months earlier was because the Oilers had already cut him. We basically gave an eighth rounder for a player the Oilers didn't want anyway.

And the rest is history. To this day, Steve Largent is the only person in the Pro Football Hall of Fame to play the majority of his career in a Seahawks uniform.

I have to say, Mack Strong is my favorite Seahawk. He is one of the better FB's in the league and, for the most part, nobody outside of Washington knows who he is.

Yeah, he's definitely a fan favorite. Shaun owes a lot to Mack. Would you believe he was an undrafted free agent that has now played over 10 years in Seattle? Does his job and never makes a peep. I'm gonna miss him when he retires soon.
