SD and NYG plans for the future

I can't understand why SD and the NYG are going with QB's that clearly are not in the plans for the future. Granted both teams are playing beyong expectations, but what does that do for next year and beyond. Both teams drafted QB's neither of which is playing. Next season Brees and Warner will most likely move on and SD and NYG will basically start from scratch with inexperienced rookies. I don't know, I just see too much of resemblance to last year with Cincy. Kitna played well and the team was on the brink of the postseason and this year they thought that they can sustain the teams progress with an inexerienced 2nd yr QB. It ain't working.

Most QB's dont come into the league and start from day one , there are VERY FEW exceptions and only two that i can think of off the top of my head .... David Carr and Peyton Manning than started from day one . There are only a few "Special Players" who can make the transition from college to pro quickly.
The difference in the speed of the game , complexity of the offenses and defenses is so great from college to the NFL most QB's sit on the bench for 2-4 years before becoming the starters (unless forced into action by injury) .
Think about the game Dave Ragone started for the Texans last season , the guy looked like a deer in headlights . Ragone is said to be a good QB prospect and have all the physical tools to play the position . (Not that i agree with that statement) But he couldnt deal with the "speed of the game" and took a beating . Carr himself (who played in a pro-style offense in college) had some tough times adjusting (that expansion team O-Line didnt help the situation) , Manning took a beating his first year as well .
Bottom line is teams / coaching staffs dont want to put these players in positions to get injured physically nor mentally so they tend to carry a clipboard for a season or two before seeing significant playing time .

That's a better question for Dallas. Both San Diego and the Giants have better records than Dallas and hence more chance of making the playoffs. Every rep Testaverde takes is a rep that won't help develop their eventual starting quarterback for a time when they are good. Just wasted reps, like the reps Quincy took.

I'm personally starting to get sick of this Big Ben is the best qb in the draft thing because there is no way to prove it yet. Yes he has made great plays but who says that Rivers or Manning can't if they got the oppurtunity. Seriously, start comparing people when all of them acutally play, not when one plays and the other two don't.

Some teams seem to think that QB's need a year or two to develop on the sidelines. I.E. Pennington.

Another reason is, that you dont want your team feeling like its a wasted year with a rookie QB at the helm. I guarantee that Strahan and some older Giants wouldnt have done as well as they are doing now if they felt the season was a wash.

So with a QB like Warner, the team still works hard this year, and your future QB learns the game on the sidelines, instead of the ER.
