The Jags play in a stadium that's too big for their market. That's why they tarp some of the seats which has led to everyone making fun of them. Let's compare their average attendance numbers to the rest of the NFL. I bet they won't be #32.

Jags stadium would be top 5 or 6 in seating capacity without the tarps. With them they’re the 8th lowest. So yeah, stadium is too big for their market.

That said, they had the 6th lowest attendance last season and 3 of the 5 teams behind them have stadiums with lower seating capacities.

Jags fans are smart. If the product they are being sold sucks than why buy it? Why is it that Jacksonville always gets discussed when it comes to relocation when as you stated there are quite a few other teams with worse attendance?! I am no Jags fan but I hate when a place like theirs gets little to no respect.

Like I said, a few of those teams stadiums have lower capacity than the Jags do with their tarps. So even if those teams had 100% sellouts, their average attendance would still be towards the bottom.

And let’s not forget that just because tickets are sold doesn’t mean those seats are being filled. I’ve seen the Texans many times struggle to fill half the stadium but the box score would still state 70,000 sellout.

Jacksonville also has the 4th smallest metro area in the NFL, ahead of only Green Bay, New Orleans and Buffalo. Some rich history in a couple of those places and though the Saints were a laughing stock their first 2 decades or so, they’ve at least won a SB. Honestly J-ville probably shouldn’t have been awarded a franchise to begin with. And it probably doesn’t help that they’ve only been to the playoffs twice in the last 17 years and 4 times in the last 25.

If they won at a better clip than they have for most of their existence they probably wouldn’t need tarps. But they haven’t and so we have tarps. Gotta earn respect.

Jacksonville had a lot of support for their USFL team in the 80's and that is why they deserved to have an expansion team for the NFL. If the respect you are saying they have to earn is from other teams fans you are wrong. When Jacksonville was winning in the early stage of their existence they had a large and proud fan base but once the owners at the time showed that their priority was no longer competing for titles the fans grew disillusioned and who could blame them? As opposed to other teams fans trying to root against the city of Jacksonville keeping the Jags, the only people that matter are Jacksonville fans and their owner Shahid Khan. Nobody was talking about teams like the Browns, Saints, Lions or Cardinals relocating so why does ineptitude only count against the Jags? I hate fans of teams in one city rooting against other cities keeping their teams! If the owner states he wants to relocate the Jags he will do that but so far he is loyal to the fans of the Jags in Jacksonville, so the haters from other bigger cities need to STFU!

It’s easy to get support when you’re new. Hell, the Roughnecks had a big following their first season. But that newness eventually wears off and then it comes down to winning games. And let’s not forget both the Panthers and Jags had some favorable things going for them to put them on the fast track of building competitive rosters back then, so the winning early certainly helped.

I also don’t think it helps that the Jags are so willing to give up home games to play across the pond every year. What kind of message does that send to your fan base? That tells me ownership is probably fishing around for a possible better situation than Jacksonville.

I’m not dissing the fans by the way. If the Texans thought they would rather play a game every year in another country instead of in front of Houston fans, that would probably turn me off on them to some degree.

However, if teams like the Saints, Lions, Browns and Cardinals can weather the storm of losing and remain in their respective cities than why should the Jags be any different? My answer is that their shouldn't!

We really aren't in disagreement when it comes to winning or lack thereof as it pertains to teams having fan support or not and those teams possibly relocating..

As far as the Jags playing across the pond, I doubt that has anything to do with their owner looking to relocate them. It is a gesture of good will and promotion of our brand of football and if it wasn't the Jags some other teams would step up to the plate to benefit the sport and our league. Besides the Jags owner has said he has no intention of moving the Jags to another city/state. I don't think he would lie. There are enough Jags fans that that was one of the main calling cards when it came to anybody buying the team.

The gist of my post is that I think it is BS for fans of other teams to talk about some other cities fans leaving their cities unless their teams are winning plenty of games and yet they still get little to no fan support.

As far as turning me off if the Texans played a game across the pond, that just would not happen. I would like it. It would broaden the appeal of the team to far off places and it also could create new fans across this country being that those games are being broadcast all across this nation without simply being shown in the participating teams regions. I do know those games are on really early in the morning but it stll could create more fans for not only the teams in those games but for the entire NFL and the sport of American football in general.

Now aa far as the Jags winning or losing, I think it quite possible that they are in a position to give us a run for our money this season when it comes to winning games. I still think we will win our division but the Jags won't be far behind us.
