Sage Or Carr ?

Carr - not even a question and shouldnt be at this point in the season.

Some people kill me with this Sage or DC stuff - Honestly DC did just about everything he could sunday and finished wit ha 100+ passer rating - What more could he have done to get things going - It's not his fault the O-line wasnt blockign worth a darn and the running game was non-existant not to mention the Defense except D-Wreck forgot to show up for most of the game.

On the sacks - The Freak was nasty on Sunday and schooled our O-line, TE's and RB's regularly and put pressure in the backfield all day. I saw very few times DC held the ball long as their was not a consistent pocket to stand in most of the day except the first few drives as compared to Mcnab who had 2 smokes and a lunch date before he threw the ball most of the time. I saw a lot of poor running and run blocking and alot of Philly blitzes. I'm still baffled how some people are blaming a sack on Carr for getting tripped??? Fox didnt replay the trip so I only got one look at the play, but I honestly wouldnt "Blame' DC for that sack. IMO its not like DC tripped on purpose. My question would be on that sack did Flannagin or someone else step on his foot or defender grab at him to make him trip or did he loose balance or what? There was no angle on TV to see, but it looked like his foot was held when he went to turn.

Carr played a good game, but I have hard to reconciling a QB passer rating of over 100 and you score only 10 points. It just doesn't make sense.

Take out the first drive and last drive of the first half and the offense was completely horrible. The second half was true to form from the past two years or so.

I think Kubiak held back on the play calling and that is why the Philly D was able to get to Carr. Kubiak needs to install more of the offense and really push Carr. It seemed to me the Ealges were not really concerned about Carr getting the ball downfield.

Meanwhile, McNabb put on a clinic with his short passes to the sticks. He threw a lot of passes like that and almost no rush was going to get him. The Eagles offense was played very well and took the right shots downfield that payed off at the right time.

This game, Kubiak was outcoached because he didn't push his players to the limit for a victory. That seems very similar to Capers. What is going on here?

I can understand your feeling here, but the numbers are pretty reliable in this case - When Carr 'had' the time to throw the ball - he was pretty much on target most of the day. To me that equals a good 'Passer' rating. He only had a handful of plays where I questioned where he was goign wit hthe ball. Kubiak addressed this in his Post-game and said David did very well and followed the script he had. IMO the team looked tentative after the first quarter because they havent really played together very long. All Pre-season and TC was about switching players around and finding the right combos. IMO like DC said post game - 'This was reallly the first full game they had played together the whole game.'

IMO Kubiak is going to have to script some new stuff than he did with Denver because we lack the personel to make the running game work when the other team is blitzing the cut-back lanes like Philly did pretty much all day. WE dont have the experience on our line to block like they did and alot of teams are getting better at attacking the running lanes. Look at what happened to Denver on Sunday - they didnt exactly light up the scoreboard either.

IMO the O-line/RB's inexperience, lack of blocking, missed assignments and lack of running game combined with our Swiss Cheese defense killed the Offense - not the QB/WR play. They had no fear of our running game and thus pinned their ears back and came for Carr almost every down in the second half.

IMO Kubiak wasnt so much outcoached as we dont have the personel to compete with Philly just yet. IMO For lack of a better way to put it we are "Green" as a team overall. We dont have the depth or experience in our Offense to keep a veteran Defense like Philly's guessing to keep from shutting us down. We also lack secondary speed and coverage, LB speed and hitting on our defense outside of a handful to contain Mcnabb's roll outs and short passes. IMO McNabb didnt play a flawless game, he had a half hour to throw the ball - That kind of time will let anybody light you up [See Rams rookie QB vs Texans last year] IMO McNabb just found the open man and made the easy read/throw. IMO Our defenses lack of pressure and stops made our offense have to become One-dimensional to try and stay in the game because they couldnt stop Philly from scoring all day long.

From everything you just described, it was Capers and Company but with a different flavor. I am sensing the same old song and dance.

McNabb made some throws in less time that Carr had had from my seats in Reliant. There were many plays where he threw to the sticks and his receivers were there for the catch. Then McNabb went downfield at the right times. I am sure Andy Ried trusts McNabb a lot more than Kubiak trusts Carr, which I think was a big difference in the game with regards to scoring only 10 points.

As for not being able to run the ball and throw downfield, Kubiak is going to have to use his offensive prowess to exploite these defensive schemes at least at points during the game. Take out the first drive, and the offensive was very boring, not to mention predictable. I still can't believe Kubiak called a run play to Lundy on 3-10 in the second quarter. On a play like that, he is not doing Carr any favors. After Sunday, defenses are going to continue to stack the run and blitz Carr, it isn't going to stop until Kubiak designs the plays that exploites these tendacies and relies on Carr for execution. Otherwise, we will continue to have a QB with a 85 passer rating or better, that gets around 200 yards with 60% completions, with about 1 TD, but the offense will score 10 to 17 points. Bottom line, Carr needs to prove himself in the league so he scares defensive coordinators, I really didn't see the play calling on Sunday putting Carr in position to show that.

Honestly, I would rather see Kubiak push these guys a little more on his play calling. If they fail, they fail. Playing this game close to the vest is only going to get Carr in more trouble.
