Can anyone confirm or deny, with relative certainty, that Sage ran this type of offensive system last season, which would explain his apparent comfort level? I heard this rumor at the office this week. I'm sure playing against the 2nd and 3rd team defenses helps as well.

Let's remember, Carr is basically starting over, not to mention, he is still gun shy. Kubiak believes Carr can take this team to the Super Bowl...not this year, but soon. He's not able to convince McNair of the extension on a pure hunch. Kubiak will likely give Carr a lot of time to learn the complexities of the offense, gain confidence again, and then I think we'll see Carr flourish. Give him and the team time...they will succeed soon.

With that said, I see Carr improving each game. He was not superb tonight, but much improved with his progressions and confidence. Don't forget, Denver is one of the top 5 teams in the league.
 
Carr did a pretty good job. He just doesn't start off toa good start, but battles his way back everytime. I thought that throw to Moulds was a really good job, because Moulds looked to have slowed down on the play early on.

Strange...... we must be doing something backwards, because our second team defense has more sacks than our first team........ I would imagine its the same for most teams... the talent level of the offensive line is a much sharper drop going from 1st team to second, than it is on defense. In other words second team QB actually faces more pressure.

The secondary is probably much weaker, so he is facing easier coverages though.

But I'm starting to question David's intelligence level... I don't think he can think fast enough. He isn't even looking downfield...... maybe that has to do with being shell shocked.

The drop on each team is very different both on OL and DL--this general statement is meaningless.

See, now we need more geniouses like this. If that guy hadn't insisted on catching a ball that wasn't meant for him, then we wouldn't have had that problem. Who's payroll is that guy on anyway?

Weigart got beat badly on one play...... yes, he got schooled. So what...... the game is still too fast for David..

I have'nt seen Carr in practice but I've always read that he looks good . The fact that when in a game he seems to get panicky ... indicates to me he's having flashbacks . The million dollar question is will Carr get settled which in turn will slow the game down .

I think David had an average game last night - nothing special for sure and plenty to work on. But IMO it's like Marshall Faulk was saying last night while DC was playing, He seemed to play better when the tempo of the offense picks up because he can get in a rhythm. It took him a little bit to get comfortable and not try to force it. He's not completely comfartable with the system yet and it shows. The interception - He should not have thrown that ball - plain and simple. IMO he looks like he doesnt want to make mistakes and thus is tentative in decisions at times to take a chance with the ball. He doesnt play with confidence until he gets in a rhythm. But like when they went to the 2 minute drill, Carr was on target and moving the ball crisply etc etc, using alot of the guys on the offense. Unfortunately some players kept slowing down and jumping off-sides - thus slowing the tempo down again and keeping us out of scoring range and upsetting the rhythm of the offense. Carr has looked good in practice and I think Kubiak will focus on getting his game timing down better.

Overall the offense overall looked green at times this week against the Broncos all around. It's preseason so we also had some new lineups mixed in to tryout players and get reps. IMO Owen Daniels should not be the starting TE - he got schooled a few times and made some rookie mistakes. Would have liked to have seen Putzier and Bruener used a little more and more passing. Why wasnt Morency starting at Tailback this game? I'm still upset about the Delay of game penalty the Ref's caused right before halftime. IMO think the Clock should have stopped while the Ref explained things. We would have scored on that drive if it were not for the freaking refs.

IMO the Penalties cost us alot last night on both sides of the ball otherwise this game would have been even closer and maybe scorelessfor the first 3 quarters. The first 2 Denver scores were from Defensive penalties. The Back to Back penalty play was a killer along with the Malone penalty giving Denver their first score. As a team IMO we lost our composure and reverted to our old form at times, but it was expected to happen at some time. Now we have some things to really focus and work on with good tape a few weeks before the opener - IMO think the team will rebound well this week and play well against the 'Birds'

The standouts were on defense which did a pretty darn good job led by my boy D-Wreck who was all over the field making plays. This was a good test game and measuring stick for us to show us we still got a lot to work on. We certainly know coach Kubes is gonna lay down the lumber this week and will use this film alot to teach with. With our first cuts coming today I think we havea decent roster shaping up and could add a few more pieces wit hthe cuts this week.
 
Sage probably looks comfortable because he hasn't been sacked 208 times in the last 4 seasons. Someone called in to 610 last night after the game and said he believed Carr is gunshy and that the last four years of the Capers' regime has ruined Carr which I agree with to an extent.
 
For the last time. Sage is only playing against twos and threes. He's got an easier time back there.

Teams gun for sacks when they play aganst Carr like they want to break records.

If DC would have thrown to the outside shoulder of the RB. It would have been a different out come. Go back and look at the play. It was all green to the sidelines. The LB had his back turned to DC. DC as usual forced the ball in there like he did the previous 2 games where AJ had to become a DB to prevent an INT. This time it was finally an INT.

The nullifier to blitzing on every pass play is getting burned deep. Carr needs to do that--and those highly touted receivers need to actually catch it--and that will take some of the aggression out of thses defenses. I know we all know that already, but it's still worth saying. I mean, hey, we all know everything already, right? :)

That's fine...... maybe we can run the no huddle to open the game, since the first 15 plays are scripted anyway.

I'm sure that's correct. I still think McNair should fire that DB though. It's like he's playing against us or something. :wacko:

he's too worried about the blitz to even think about bombing it downfield. look what happened last night when he loosed one out deep... it didn't hit it's intended target. that's going to chip another piece off his confidence.

I think they were being sarcastic Capt. If Lundy would've caught the ball, he would've been swallowed by the on coming D. I personally don't understand why he rushed the pass. It appeared he still had a little time left. Oh well, live and learn.

He pulls the ball down a lot and takes a sack. People in GB are ready to hang Farve by his thumbs because he refuses to pull the ball down and take the sack. I wish there was a happy medium. Carr is too much like the guy who actually won a ring with the Ravens, what was his name. Carr's throwing motion makes me cringe this year more than ever before. I guess watching Sage throw the ball properly and seeing how he can make the throw "over the top" that David seems to miss for whatever reason makes me wonder if he's just limited by that side arm delivery. He's been at this 4 years now and there's still no magic indicating he's a playmaker.
 
Here's a little tidbit, some trivia that Hollywood McClain just revealed on
SR610 - Sage is in the Jewish Sports Hall of Fame, but Sage is in fact not Jewish.

Show me where DC has improved? Don’t go by his stats because DC stats were pumped up by the prevent D in the last 2 min. Denver’s D kept the WR’ in front of them. Just look at the 4th down play on that drive. The CB was 10 yards off AJ instead of in his face! And DC last drive was against the 2nd team D. When DC throws the ball his WR’s seem to always be diving or jumping for the ball. When was the last time DC threw a slant or skinny post to a Wr’s in stride? This was to be DC’s coming out party from the 1st snap!
He was to drive the team right down the Field. Instead he didn’t protect the ball on 3rd down and fumbled. Just like he fumbled the ball on 4th down in the 1st game. He got lucky on that 1 too.
Lets be honest DC wasn’t impressive at all when it counted! Does DC have a TD pass yet this preseason? You look at Sage and he has a few passes were Wr's catch the ball in stride on slants and skinny post. His 2 TD passes where got in stride.Doesn't matter if it is against 3rd or 4th string D. Rememebr DC was against the 2nd string D and could't score!
