Ryan Mallett (Houston, We Have A Monster)

I think people are letting the disappointment of losing cloud their judgement of Mallet. If you look at things in the proper prospective and leave out negative emotions you can't be to down on his play. Two starts, terrible banged up OL, no run game, WR's dropping Lot of passes, don't see how anyone can be down on an inexperienced guy this soon.
Good post. I need to rewatch the whole game, but I saw several drops today and Washington just flat out whiffed on a well thrown, sure TD catch in the second half. Never even saw the ball. There were several bad throws, to be sure, but I think Mallett is trying to throw a bit low to keep the WR's from taking some big hits and to compensate for the couple of balls that sailed on him (bad footwork?).

From what I saw (2 1/2 quarters), Mallett had decent protection most of the time.

A couple of those drives reminded me of the good ole days. More of those drives reminded me of why we're 1-2. As soon as Mallet calms the hell down and we get an o-line from magic or something, we'll be fine.

I agree. The only way Mallett calms down is by seeing game time, though. Yeah, he's been in the league a while, but it takes time for the game to slow down when you're playing games that matter vs. preseason/practice. I like the tempo, confidence and arm strength I see much better than Hoyer. I'd love to see Savage get some more real game time and prove he's not another Chris Chandelier.

Mallett has all the tools he needs to be a first class QB, whether or not he figures out how to use them is the question.
