agree 100%. would just add I think it's important to transition skilled players carefully, case in point (no pun intended) Savage. would like to take measured steps to build up Blue, keep him fresh & fully develop while exercising Grimes in relief situations, then bring in Blue as needed.

It's not crazy to have three RBs have carries in a game. Hell the Patriots have done it on more than just a few occasions with Ridley, Vereen, and Bolden. Also cannot forget the Giants using Jacobs, Bradshaw, and Ward during one of their Super Bowl runs.

subbing into passing situations however is a way to give a back a breather. that's where brown wins over grimes (and blue). grimes's 1-2 carries at most arent going to do anything, while brown subbing on 3rd downs and late game situations will have him on the field relatively often.

I'd just play it by ear and see which back has the hot hand, with deference to AF.

New England and New York (Giants) are notable for not really having that bell cow RB. It's worked out OK but New England has a 1st ballot HOF'er at QB and New York (Giants) has a history of good to great defense. And one helluva lucky QB.

Regardless, it's gonna be interesting to see how OB uses the personnel at his disposal.
 
I agree Blue has looked better than Grimes. He is much more decisive with is cuts and very explosive. I think you use him to spell AF and he could be our future back with low miles once AFs contract is up.

AF is done next year if we can trade or get rid of him.

I liked Blue coming out of college. He was caught in a numbers game at LSU. Good RB. I've been impressed with him this preseason, especially in blitz pickup.

I don't think thats the case. If he plays well and stays healthy, no reason to get rid of him. I don't think there is enough cap relief by releasing him, but not sure off the top my head.

That's where I am on this hot topic. IF he's returned to form and can be incorporated into O'Brien's offense like the Coach says he will be I can see him playing out his contract. You guys can remember all of us going nuts when Kubiak quit chucking to him out of the backfield. Some of the most impressive highlights in league history. (Just MHO, of course) The man is a very illusive receiver whether in the backfield, the slot, in motion...wherever, and he just doesn't drop many balls. I'm excited about this aspect of the season as any.

The HC has been just somewhat giddy over #23's capabilities out of the backfield since day 1. If he can stay healthy and produce as a receiver like he did in 2011 then Katy Bar The Door. If only Fitzpicktrick can get the ball to him. If not then idonno:

2 untouchables on the Texans roster: Andre Johnson and JJ Watt. Every other player better make this year an audition year. Why should OB keep you?
