Running back situation

For me, the only time you can grade or gather the worthiness of a back is when the contact is live, so honestly (imo) you cannot judge backs until the pre-season starts. This has nothing to do with Mo, but every year there is some small jitterbug guy who looks incredible in camp because there is no contact and they are darting all over the place. When the hitting starts many of those guys don't last.

260 in a good way or 260 in a bad way?

If you watch Wells in the offseason video on the main site, Wells looks like he's beefed up to Fullback size.

If wells has beefed up enough I think it be interesting to use him as a fullback. we could take people off guard with his nautral running skills at a place that you don't see running on a regular basis. I think that it be a fun thing to watch. I don't remember but how was his blocking last season?

i don't think anyone did any blocking last season

hahaha.....o that was needed. i dunno i like wells as a runner also, when he came in for DD last year. the only reason i feel people still look down on him is from the first season he was with the team. hes exccelled on special teams and i think ran with alot of power last season. hes def. a power back that we IMHO need. just my input

37 DOUBLE D, that's the running back situation. Keep our Feature Back out there getting into the flow of the game and he will break at least ten 100 yard games this year, my prediction. :neener: <:~KingRat

Good, then maybe someone'll cough up a first for him come next March.

Casserly'll be wanting extra leverage to move up in the first from our likely 18-20 and take a top OT.

Didn't Wells sub in some at FB last year?? You think he's any faster than our other fullbacks? I know that sounds like a stupid question, but their's actually some pretty fast FB's out their.

Capers doesn't use the fullback much. He would only carry 1 If he could get by with it. Wells would suck at FB he is too tall and doesn't know how to block for a HB. As I recall Wells subed Davis in goal line situations and punched in a few TD's.

this might be me but we do stay in the 1 back formation alot... I was thinking last year with Hollings and Davis in the back field in a split formation would give us 2 good options out of the backfield. I think haveing them going against a LB would be a good matchup for us. It havent seen it yet. I still think it would be interesting with Hollings/Morrency and Davis. Esp like on a 3rd n 5 or a 2nd n 7 or 8. JMO though.

Wells is only 6'1", and at 6'1" 260, he's ideal fullback size (if not a little big). As for as blocking goes, that's what's beautifull about fullback, blocking is a skill that can be coached and taught. My thoughts are that with some coaching, his size and speed, and he has halfway decent hands, he'd be pretty good as a fullback. I could've sworn I've seen him line up at fullback. With a fullback that can catch and run, you can keep your TE in for pass protection or run no TE at all, and send your FB out to the flat and beat the cover 2. Just ask Mike Allstot, who's also 6'1". Maybe the coaching staff had him put the extrah weight on, for that thought?? He has good talent to just be playing special teams.
